Chateau Entrance Hall | Scaffolding Goes Up & Chateau Friends Help - Journey to the Château, Ep. 193
In this week's Friday episode, Patrick and Stuart work on the restoration of the doors, walls, and ceilings of the chateau entrance hall. Stuart creates a platform out of a wooden palette so that they can use their scaffolding on the grand staircase. They also have a visit from friends Gary and Jojo from the Chateau de Quantilly who spend a day helping them with projects in the entrance hall restoration.

What a great idea the viewer had using the pallets....they are handy things. You sure cracked on in fine style....great helpers!!! It's good that you're almost a quarter done....it's close!!! I can imagine how exciting it must be knowing that you'll be ready to have guests coming to visit....I wish I was closer to come and help!
Thank you darling Norma. The suggestion was great. And there are people who think we don’t read comment z😮😊😂. We will be done by the time the first guest arrive. It is truly exciting right now ❤❤❤. Love from Colombe
@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 I know first hand you read the comments, you've replied to me every time which makes me feel close to you two. It's wonderful!

The hall entrance to your home...is such a difference..just...WOW.. Gentlemen!
Thank you so much ❤❤❤😊
The black wrought-iron hand rail is now outstanding, and I was able to appreciate the details . Everything is looking brilliant.
Thank you so much. It is so true. Now they shine against the newly painted it is almost shocking to see it. ❤😂❤. Love tour comment
The entrance hall is looking so smart! Can't wait to see the finishing touches on the B&B suite and hear about the garden springing to life soon - have a fab weekend!
Thank you so much. There is a lot happening right now and many projects that took many on this are coming to a close. Amazing . ❤❤❤
Things are getting there little by little. I just love watching your videos and the interactions between the two of you. Thank you for sharing this with us. Please don’t ever stop showing us your progress ❤
Thank you Catherine. We have been making such progress. And little by little is so true. You are so kind. Huge hugs ❤
My dad called the process of fixing one thing leasing to needing to do another "buying a doorknob". You start with a new doorknob, then the door looks bad, then the trim looks bad, etc, until you've built a new house.
We completely agree with your dad ….. it is the perfect analogy. One thing leads to another….. We have a few years till we get there 😂😊😂. Huge hugs ❤
😆
But that’s the journey you’re on and we’re enjoying seeing you leaping forward! @@patrickjourneytothechateau9452
I was actually quoting your comment to Stuart today 😂😂😂. Huge thank you
Glad that you found a way to get up to the very top of the stairwell safely. 👍
Thank you. I actually like working up there. 🙄🤔🥰
Scary to watch you working from the scaffolding Patrick although you made it look like a walk in the park. But with your perfection in everything you do Stuart, knew the brilliant platform would ensure Patrick's safety. So filled with admiration for everything you both achieve. Perfect partners.😍
It does look scarier than it is (for me). I have no hesitation because I know that Stuart’s construction would be safe, and you knew it! I love it. Hugs from Colombe ❤❤❤😊
Aloha Patrick and Stuart, SHEER PERFECTION👏. Guinness knows🐾♥️🏰.
Aloha and thank you Leah. And indeed….. Guinness is the sweetest supervisor. ❤❤❤. Hugs
Hi Patrick and Stuart, It's amazing what a bit of elbow grease did to the door and removing the balance of the wallpaper and painting. The scaffold was a great idea, I'll have to consider it when I do the basement stairwell. Mark & Scott
Good morning Patrick & Stuart, Splendid!! It is wonderful to have such kind friends, all helping, assisting and organising projects and then you in turn repay the compliments. So pleased the scaffolding worked out perfectly, that was a grand idea from a viewer, well done sharing that. I am sure you will have all spick and span before the guests arrive, try to have a couple of days done before they arrive just to get yourselves together. It has been so much work finishing off and the results are amazing. Do take care, not too much rushing and don't forget to breathe. Do enjoy and hopefully all will be done soon. Thinking of you. Kind regards, Elize.
Thank you Elize. It has been 16 hour days for the last 3 months. We will be at a point to take a few days with no renovation work…. Hurrah. Hugs and love from Colombe ❤
What a great job, guys. And how nice to have friends to help. You two are like the energizer bunnies. 🐰
Thank you so much Linda. We are indeed lucky ❤❤❤
Paint = miracle solution. A lick of paint makes such a difference.
Absolutely true. ❤❤❤
The entry hallway looks so good and probably makes you feel good when you come through the front door. It’s such a beautiful staircase with a stunning railing and now it pops. What a brilliant idea using pallets for the stairway scaffolding. You have good friends to come and help you with the hall, enabling you to get so much more completed. You must be excited to have upcoming guests even though you still have projects to accomplish before they arrive. Have a great weekend and many hugs. xx
Dear Stephanie. We are so blessed with our friends. 😊. And the hall is just amazing to walk through. We fell in love with the hall when we toured the chateau. We had a vision and it truly surpassed our expectation. We are thrilled. Love from Colombe ❤❤❤
Well done! Your front hall/entry with your beautiful staircase and now almost repaired and painted walls and ceilings is truly transformed. What a difference it make to have these areas completed. I know that it seems like the work never ends, but hopefully you will continue to have some good helpers/volunteers to assist in the progress. Many blessings to you for safety and health for you and your sweet furry friends.
Thank you Elle. It is a lot of work and we now see it come together. What a huge difference. We love it. And we appreciate the help we get. Love from Colombe ❤❤❤
The use of pallets is such a great idea! The staircase looks beautiful as well. It is all coming together so well. ❤
Thank you so much Deidra. It was such a great top and Stuart’s ingenuity made it happen. Huge hugs ❤
The 3 tone paint scheme is lovely. Stewart, maybe a little block on the edge of the platform so the wheels couldn't possibly roll off it... We treasure Patrick and I suspect from that height he might be breakable.
Exhausting, but I'm sure very rewarding progress. The hall renovation has really advanced quite quickly. Well done to you both (and of course also to your friends for helping, so kind of them) 👍👍
Thank you Marie. We were standing in the hall today and were amazed that we are almost done for this season. It will change a bit in the future and we will paint the ceiling again. But overall, we are amazed that 10 days made such a difference. 😊❤😊
Awww guys, the chateaux is looking so lovely. It's not only the look but the feeling of love & your personalities you put in your chateau. Congratulations to your subscribers, here's to any more.🥂🍾 Great work!😁 🙏❤
That is so kind of you. I do believe you are right that the feeling of life and light makes a big difference. Very much appreciate your wonderful comment ❤❤❤
Wow guys! You are really moving along with the hallway. Such a huge job, but it’s already looking fabulous. That beautiful iron work on your stairs will look even more beautiful in the finished space.
Thank you so much and you are right….. with every day, the iron works looks so much more impressive….. and more in need of scrubbing 😂😂😂😂😂. And I will happily do it. Hugs ❤
Patrick you are so brave!! I guess you can’t be afraid of heights when you own a chateau. The entry hall is looking so fresh and beautiful. What a major difference the paint made on the doors. ❤happy Weekend!!
Thank you Tammy. I don’t mind heights as ,one as I don’t think about it. 😂😊😂. The feeling of the entrance hall is lovely. Light, fresh and still historically accurate. We love it. Love from us
I love your platform!! Thats not going anywhere, very sturdy. Your doors are marvelous with all those metal locks...just perfect. Im so glad you were able to paint so much and have help.
Thank you so much for a marvelous comment 😊
Well done on your renovation progress. You both appear well pleased with your progress and so you should. You have achieved a lot recently. Can’t wait for the final finish on the floors before the furniture moves into the B&B rooms. And luckily you received some help from friends. That always lifts the spirits. And I’m sure you’ll have fun times with your future guests. Loved seeing your dogs once more. 👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️🐕🐾
Thank you Jennifer. We are truly thrilled about the progress we made. Floors are next and then the furniture and decorations. And the hall……. How amazing are all the things that we now see to come to fruition. ❤❤❤
Actually brilliant way to put the scaffold up and your safe.
Thank you Kim. ❤❤❤
Good friends make all the difference in our lives.👍🏻
They absolutely do and we are blessed. Thank you ❤❤
Staircase is really making a turnaround. Keep on cracking on
Thank you Patricia. It looks sooo nice. We are making progress every day. Feels wonderful. Hugs from Colombe ❤
Thanks for another nice episode. The old girl is looking lovely.
Hi Lynn. The old girl seems to be coming to live again (unless you meant me 😂😂😂😂). It feels great to see all that progress. Hugs ❤❤❤
A coat of paint certainly can make a big change. In the chateau is more than painting. The preparation you both do before is really what makes the big difference. A little of work before painting but the results are always the best! There are colors that are not my favorites to paint, but when you use them I totally change my mind. That is because you know exactly where to use them and the perfect combination of colors. Patrick and Stuart you did it again! The foyer looks magnifique. ❤
Thank you so very much. We did so much research on what is appropriate for our chateau of the 17th and 18th century. So glad you approve. Love from Chateau. ❤❤❤
@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 Yes. I can tell that there is so much research you both do before taken a new project. You are both very knowledgeable and always welling to learn more. I learn a lot from watching your videos. For me, it is more than just watching the end results of your projects, it also learning about all the aspects of restoring an old chateau, enjoy the music and your great personalities. Have a great Dimanche and a wonderful semaine. Mercy beucuop from SoCal. 😊😍
@@PablaMMoore Thank you so very much. You just made my day
Your friends are the best! Kudos for tackling that stairway, your a brave man. No worries about the platform. It looks very solid but the drop made my heart drop.
We are very lucky and have a wonderful chosen family. ❤❤❤. The drop is quite daunting but I am not afraid of heights. I love it if there. 😊😊😊 love and hugs from Colombe
Congratulations on hitting 30K subscribers! The doors turned out great! 1000% improvement. What a transformation. The ceiling is a triumph. What a difference a coat of paint makes... And a ton of elbow grease steaming and scraping wallpaper, etc. Patrick, I can't believe that you were on that scaffolding on those pallets. You must have amazing locks on those wheels. I was nervous watching you move around up there for fear they would turn and roll off the edge. I trust that you're taking adequate precautions. Patrick and Stuart, you keep making steady and noticable progress. It's great to see. ❤ from TX!
Hugs Ray. Thank you. We are growing and are grateful for it. Love the progress. Every day brings more improvements. Hurrah. Walls and ceilings are such a changed look. The locks are very safe. Once locked….. they don’t move. I was quite safe. And I am careful. Hugs from Colombe to TX ❤❤❤
I didn't realize how sad looking the hallway was. It sure is looking much nicer with each "one thing leading to another " project. God bless from California, USA. ❤ 😊
It was quite sad, wasn’t it? 😂. Only when we started to truly start to put it back and paint went up…… oh dear. Bless you from Colombe and thank you ❤❤
The balustrade looks fabulous ❤❤ the black against the white is a great contrast ❤❤
Thank you so much. It is lovely. ❤❤❤
The entrance hall is really starting to shine. A lovely beginning. Best wishes
Everything looks so good!! When you're channeling your inner Coco Peru and something that bothers you, action is the best plan. ❤
You are absolutely spot on. Action is the best antidepressant for me. I’ll channel her any day 😂😊😂. Hope you are having a &a bulbous time. 😊. Love from Colombe
The Hall renovations has been great and and Patrick and Stuart you both have achieved and progress along very nice even there was a lot to do as usual you have shone perfectly to attain the best the guest room and the entrance so rich color keep the challenge both see you soon bye

Hi Lisa. Thank you so much 🤩🤩🤩 indeed. It feels like a different chateau. ❤❤❤
The entrance looks so smart!! And that scaffold jig is genius!!
Thank you so much. We are thrilled and the scaffolding jig was a game changer ❤❤❤
Sitting here w/my glass of wine on a Friday night and enjoying watching you work 😃. You are achieving so much though I know there is lots more to do. It is always fun to see what you get done in a week. Bon weekend!
We have, after many months of prep work, turned a corner and finally can complete many projects. Hugs hugs and thank you from Colombe ❤❤❤
The hall and landing are looking great, Little Greene should be very happy

Isn’t that amazing! Truly, a lot of preparations and the paint….. and voila! A fantastic entrance hall. ❤❤

Both of you have amazing commitment to the work on the Chateau which is commendable 👏👏👏 Patrick … you are fearless on that scaffolding… I think I’d need a large brandy 😂
ThNk you Gerry. We work about 16 hours every day (with a few short breaks), and we love to finally see things coming back together 😂😊 I had the brandy after I was done each day on the scaffolding. 😊😊😊
It’s got to feel SO good walking into the entrance hall now. You’ve made such great progress on it. It’s beautiful! Stuart, I’ve said this before, but I’m saying it again, love those red glasses on you😃. Hugs!😘
It is so true. It feels like walking into a different chateau. We live it ❤❤❤❤
Well Stuart, you can add structural engineer to your list of trades. You took your viewers suggestion and ran with it. What a difference you have made in the entry hall. It really is lovely 😍 just can't say enough about all the work you have done and what a fulfilling life you are making in france. ❤️ ❤️
Thank you, Gloria! 💕😘
Gentlemen, you have made such great progress, fantastic work!! Congratulations. And I must say I am so envious of your front door hardware!! 🤭❤❤ Mark and Phillip

You’re doing such a wonderful job. Great taste in colour and design. A pleasure to be part of your journey. 😊😊😊 I always smile as I watch. 😊😊😊 oh and what a great idea on how to use your palates.👍
Thank you! 💕
That platform did the trick! 👍
Wasn’t that a great solution? I’m glad Stuart came up with this. Amazing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank You for sharing and have a great Weekend ❤
hello boys, another great paint job, it magnifies this entryway even more... the inexpensive idea of the pallet wood platform is excellentyou still have a lot of work left but you should already be satisfied with what you have accomplished
Finally you reached to the top, im so happy 😊You be renovating for sometime xx
The magic of paint
Exciting for sure... Its looking incredible in the entrance hall gentlemen. And your helpers did a fie job. Cant wait to see the finished rooms 😘😘
It is such a joy, watching you both, doing a great job
You guys are doing such beautiful work! I so appreciate your videos. And kudos once again to Stuart for his choice of music. And both of you are such troopers on all that painting and plaster work. I love that front door. Maybe it's not visible in the video, but I can't figure out why the hardware on the door needs any work, it looks great already with the freshly painted door. And congrats on surpassing 30K subscribers. I'm glad to be one of them.
Thank you! The front door has all of the hardware stripped and we love it. The back door still does not have the hinge hardware stripped.
Ah, i understand now! Have a great weekend!
Super boulot de forcenés, mais quelle joie quand ça ce fini 😊😊😊
And a fabulous use of the pallets ❤️❤️
Looking magnificent! Hard work and good friends to help 👍
More nuances de gris ! The never ending cycle of home renovations.
👍
The entrance hall is looking great. You can do a lot with pallets!! Well done!! Lots of love from Tennessee!
All coming along nicely and looking grand 😊
Sorry, I was not home earlier to watch. I'm watching now relaxing after a busy day with medical tests. Enjoy the weekend Patrick and Stuart.
Thank you so much. A happy weekend for you as well. Fingers crossed for your tests. Love from Colombe ❤
Amazing. Love the transformation of the stairwell You just persevere. the scaffolding is an engineering feat. Love Guiness. such a great name for a dog. My two mini Aussie doodles are Beau and Scout. A friend has this thing about dog names , his labradoodle has some long aristocratic name. He wanted to know what my Beau real name was so I told him Beaujolais. He was dumbstruck. Scout is named for Scout Finch from 'To Kill a Mockingbird'.
Looking so good! What a brilliant idea to use those pallets!
Congratulations on your 30,000 subscribers! I’m so proud to “know” you! And please pay attention to the poster who asked you to wear a mask when sanding. We don’t want to lose you!!
Thank you. Masks are not needed for sanding when there is no dust. Connecting them to shop vac eliminates it.
What you achieved in such a short time since I left is outstanding 😊❤
Thank you, Brad! ❤️
Wow, what a difference some plaster and paint can do. You have to be happy to have that brown wallpaper down. It was so nice of your friends to come help. That pallet came in very useful, thanks to your viewer for suggesting it. I have a fear of heights, so it wouldn't be me.😂 Guiness is adorable. Have a great weekend, guys.❤
Hugs Peter. It is true. Plaster, paint and a lot of hours made a huge difference. And the help,of our friends too, of course. It looks so different. Greetings from Colombe ❤
What a great difference your work has made to the entrance. Well done. I was wondering how to solve the scaffolding issue, so that was a great tip from one of your viewers. Looking forward to the next exciting installment. Unfortunately my plan to head over in June has fallen through as my travel buddy can’t get the time off work, but I’ll be there soon enough. Looking forward to meeting you in person and supporting you as a guest. Xxx
Congratulations on your subscribers!!! Fantastic progress!!! 🥰🎶❤️❤️❤️🎶🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🏰🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
Hi Patrick and Stuart. The platform looks great, Stuart, but I must say My stomach sort of clenched when I saw Patrick on it. The wheels seem awfully close to the edge😯. Patrick just don’t wiggle the scaffold at all! No dancing up there😅. I’m amazed at the difference now in the entryway! All prettied up but none of the original charm taken away❤. See you again soon😘😘😘
It was a bit scary the first time up there. Then we knew it was safe. Now I love it up there. I didn’t dance…. But I wanted to 😂. The hall looks like it would have 400 years ago. Isn’t that amazing. ❤❤❤❤. Hugs and thank you😊
So kind of your friends to lend a hand is what friends are for :) you two have such great friends and supports :) The entrance, foyer and stairwell will come up a treat and be a welcoming space you don't have to worry about anymore is great. Well done on all your hard work the door looks beautiful even as is (hardware) and know Ash has a great way of refinishing door hardware. Hopefully all the other tasks will get a little easier now. Guinness was a great comfort I am sure.
What a difference! Looking great !
Beautiful transformation
It’s Crazy how much work we gotta do in Life just so people’s eyes don’t travel to areas.😊 -SE Texas❤
😂😂😂 so true
What a beautiful job you guys are being doing, The Chateau is back to life ❤❤❤
Guiness is adorable. How old? Have a sense that he's a young one of the pack. The change in the entrance hall since you purchased the chateau is astounding. Really enjoying watching everything come together. Bravo!
Hi there. Guinness is a charmer and a love. He is almost 7 years old. 😊. Adorable. The feeling of the hall is completely transformed. We love it. Great comment. Tha ‘ tou❤
It looks really lovely what you have completed.⭐️⭐️
Thanks guys. The progress is incredible.
Patrick when you moved the scaffolding into the corner near the end of the video, loads of orbs are caught on camera 😊
I saw that too
I saw them, as well. Lots of energy there! Wonderful.
The work you two get through makes me tired out watching you .but your hallway looking brilliant .have a lovely weekend .
The music makes painting look like it’s not such a chore!
You are absolutely right. We had music playing…. 😂😊
The stairs look so good! ❤ I love the dings in the wall and wood and I love that you have a dog named Guinness! My old golden retriever was named Guinness.. I wanted to change it at first but my middle daughter was 2 and refused to call her anything else
Great job Stuart being inventive with the pallet to support the scaffolding. Everything is progressing nicely. Take care my friends, Ralph Rocchiccioli
Wasn’t that amazing? Love Stuart’s ingenuity. Hugs ❤❤😊
The entrance hall is looking really really lovely love the fact your just getting on with what needs doing. How sweet of your friends to lend a hand, thanks for your video I enjoyed it so much
Thank you so much. There are other…… nicer projects. But we will get there eventually. We love the progress we have made. Glad you enjoy our videos ❤❤❤
