Two BEAUTIFUL Chateau CHANDELIER RESTORATIONS with friends - Journey to the Château, Ep. 102
In this week's episode, Patrick and Stuart welcome family friend Frauke back to the chateau along with her friend Gesche. They help out with removing more of the 20th century wallpaper in the chateau, as well as helping Patrick and Stuart with two of the chandeliers. Patrick also works on some repairs to a clock that they acquired from a recent auction that will become a gift for a friend.
Join Patrick and Stuart on their journey to find a neglected, forgotten, or crumbling château or castle in France, and then continue to follow them as they work on its restoration, rénovation, decoration, and furnishing. Along the way, they will also create and share videos on their preparation for having gîtes for guests, and an event venue in their chateau (wedding, birthday, anniversary, organization or club meetings, retreats, etc.).

Thank you. Frauke is my mother’s cousin. Gesche is a goof dried and neighbor of hers. I wish I had more time for tinkering 😮😮😊. The clocks range from 1750s to Art Nouveau. We love variety ❤

I am slowly feeling some better, thank God. The pain was unbelievable. My older brother and SIL are visiting July 6th for a week from Labrador. I pray I will be well enough to enjoy their visit by then. Unfortunately my hubby Pat has to work. I am so looking forward to seeing them.They are the first of my family to visit in 23 years that I have been here. I last saw them in person in 2016, so this is very exciting for me. I had a clock like that, but the works were missing and the pendulum. We ended up donating it to an elderly man who worked on clocks as a hobby. I’m sure he brought it back. We have an extensive clock collection and we just hadn’t the room for it, sadly. It went to a good caretaker. Nonetheless, I do have a little case of the green eyed monster. Love them.

It will be fun assembling the crystals pieces and the stag chandelier is just too gorgeous for words. I am sure the clock will be restored perfectly, just a bit of patience. Oh my, the chandelier is beyond gorgeous!!! You are collecting so many magnificent pieces including the beautiful clocks. I love the sound of clocks when they chime. I always seem to tell you about childhood memories, but so much of what you do or have triggers my memories. When my parents were in their upper eighties they moved in with my sister. My parents had many antique clocks, French, English, German, Swiss, etc in our childhood home. They all chimed, gonged, cuckooed, etc. so when they moved into my sisters house along came many of the clocks. My sister never liked the sounds they made, so she would go around switching them off, stopping the pendulums, etc. My father would turn them back on. This silent battle between them lasted until my parents passed away in their 90’s a few years ago. My sister still has the clocks and of course they are turned off. One night not that long ago they all chimed at midnight. She called me freaked out. I told her she was always looking for a sign from mom and dad and the chimes were our parents letting her know they are ok and with us. I can’t think of any other explanation. Thank you for collecting such beautiful clocks. xx

I know this is going to sound perhaps a little strange given the fact that I do realize the walls are old and the covering is old and changed dramatically over time. That said, I love that color! It comes across as a kind of faded rose/peach. Just love it.
