  • I have a Harry Potter bear from Build a Bear, and I sleep with my bear every night. Brings me a lot of comfort.

  • Thanks for sharing this! I had mine for 8 years and I sleep with him every night. He has already lost some of his fluffiness in his neck! And I am freaking out because I don't like the idea of having to take him apart to get him fix 😭😕.

    • It’s okay. The most you’ll have to do is open a seam and remove the cotton and sink wash him in laundry detergent NOT dish detergent because it’ll leave them sticky and get a hair dryer and blow dry on high and from a distance. The only reason why big bear needed to be dismembered was because his limbs are sewn separately. He’s a vintage teddy.

  • This got recommended to me because I was looking up toy restorations, lol. I really like your aesthetic and editing. You have a very calm and charming quality, and I really enjoyed the video. I'm gonna look through your other videos, too. :D So happy that Big Bear got that spa day he desperately needed, haha.

  • I watched another restoration video somewhere, where the lady took some of the old fluff and made a little heart stuffy and put it back into teddy with the new stuffing! So meaningful! Hahhah Great job! I love that you didnt over stuff him and still kept Big Bear soft and cuddly.

  • Great job on your makeover of your teddy bear!! I did restore my favorite stuffed animal about last year. It's a medium sized orange tiger named Simba. I still have him for 15 years! I gave him new hypoallergenic stuffing and handwashed him. I also brushed Simba with a brush with strong bristles and he looks good as new. Once a month I still wash him. I try to take care of him, just like he takes care of me, in other words giving me comfort.

  • If you do this again, and the animal you're restoring is not degraded so much that it is losing fur, you can put the faux fur of the stuffed animal into the clothes drier on *air* dry, no heat, and it will take a lot of the excess moisture out. It will also take off any excess fluff that might have accumulated in the fur over the years. If the fabric is degraded, don't do it, but healthy fabric will not be harmed by an air dry. You can air dry it a couple times, if needed, then hang. It will only take a few hours or overnight to dry completely that way, instead of three days. The important part is absolutely NO HEAT. The eyes can be protected with painter's tape, if you're afraid they'll be scratched or break. Source: have made and restored many a stuffed animal iover about 10 years

  • Thank you for the video. Your bear is very cute, and I admire your courage! I have struggled getting this task done on my own one, but now I feel more motivated, especially since it seems I'm not the only one in this situation ... Thank you, and I hope you're going to have a great time with your brand new best bear friend!

  • I usually wash mine in a pillow bag or washer bag in the washing machine the air dry them on the rack. Although I have some emotional attachment to those, I do not like the fact that they are made from cheap polyester fabric. I wonder if I can open the seam, retrace them on organic cotton and give them a new skin... seems like a lot of work though!

  • Oh my gosh. Big Bear looks just like my bear (who is much smaller, but the same kind of age - maybe they were made by the same company!) But otherwise they are exactly the same, the fabric the same, the seams the same. My bear also has the fur matting and his nose stitches rubbed away. Definitely giving this a go - thank you so much

    • Metal pet brushes are always the best as plastic often pulls the fibers and can overstretch and tear at them whereas the metal sort of glides through

  • I need some help. I have a 33 year old stuffed animal who I can’t express how much they mean to me. Im 14. The stuffed animal has been mine and my moms. He hasn’t gotten cleaned in several years from how delicate he is, he has hair loss that is growing on the back of his neck, and his hair is extremely matted down, stiff, and curled up flat. At one point it was apparently a very velvety plush. Im desperate to try and fix his fur that has been matted for 20 years and possibly give him new stuffing because of how flat his stuffing is. I need advice on how to fix his fur. That bears matted fur looks just like the issue mine is having, but flatter.
