  • I am from South Africa and fell in love with Scotland during my solo tour of 17 days in May 2006! I traveled by bus from Glasgow to Oban, did a three island tour (Mull, Staffa and Iona) traveled by train from Oban to Fort William, went up Ben Nevis with the cable car. Traveled by the Steam train to Mallaig, took the ferry to Isle of Skye. Stayed in the Pink Guest house in Portree, rented a car and explored the Island. I left my heart in Isle of Skye!! Took a bus then a train to Inverness. Bus trip to Edinburgh (O what a city!) i went to Arran, rented a car and explored the island too. I wish I could go back again, but the finances are a problem. Thank you for your videos xx

  • I am a Scottish Canadian. I am obsessed with Scotland. Have hiked many a mile all over. The West Highland Way (7 times) is a world class trek. My mother was born in Glasgow (Dickson). When I’m in Scotland I feel as though I am home. I would agree that the narration could have been much more authentic had it been done either by a lad or a lass. The Anglo pronunciation detracts from the soulfulness of some of the magic that is Scotland. Otherwise.......magnificent. The views are stunning.

  • I am from Greece and used to admire the Mediterranean kind of beauty. This footage is a revelation of a very different, unique and inimitable concept of beauty possibly carved by a higher spirit. The landscape, the light, the colors, the bewildering calmness and the ambience of this video is an elevating experience. It comes as no surprise that Scotsmen have fought for so many centuries to protect the identity and freedom of this eerily beautiful, timeless land of theirs. Thank you very much for this upload.

  • My dad's grandmother ,born in the mid 19th , according to my dad , launched out a can of Campbell's soup, into the street, having seen it in his mothers pantry. This happened probably sometime in the early 1930's . She shouted at his mother, never to have anything Campbell in the house. A childhood memory of my long gone dad ,who witnessed a form of living history. A family tale coming down the centuries from Glencoe.

    • Hi Linda. Just came across this video and noted your post. I too have been researching my Scottish family ancestry. My paternal MacIver and Morrison ancestors came from Isle of Lewis and Harris in the 1880's to settle in and around Lac Megantic, Que. I already had quite a bit of history of the ones who arrived but not of their ancestors. My best find for researching outside from Ancestry.com was the volumes of work done by Bill Lawson, and listed at hebridespeople.com. A cousin in Que put me on to this source and the few books I purchased took just a few weeks to clear U.S. customs but the wait for each one was well worth the effort. My maternal ancestors were of Lancaster and Spragues (English) and I had a family compendium that filled in the Lancaster side with complete families of many generations. Been working it for 4 years or so but interestingly you would think that staying at home as much as possible during this pandemic I would have plenty of time for my "hobby' but alas I have been slacking! Anyway, good luck with your family tree research.

  • I toured Scotland for seven consecutive years, and camped all the way. I often let the kids decide which route we took, so sometimes we zig-zagged up to the Cape Wrath region, or just hugged the West Coast all the way round to John O' Groats, with detours up The Great Glen. And of course Dunnet Head is the true most Northerly point of mainland UK. Which was my favourite part? why all of it; but especially the Highlands, and Islands of the Inner and Outer Hebrides. My only regret, is not 'taking the Gaelic' - yet.

  • Of all the places in Scotland, the Isle of Mull is my favourite. My Mother used to say how she loved the Isle of Skye, as do I, “but wait ‘til you visit Mull”, I told her. So we took her there on holiday and visited Iona too. The weather was beautiful. Sunny, with a gentle breeze. At the end of our holiday she agreed with my opinion that Skye is a wonderful island, but Mull has something magical about it that we couldn’t put into words.

  • My family, the Mackinnons once owned a large part of the island of Skye and Mishnish (including Tobhar Mairi/Tobermory) in Mull. We lost it all when the new British Parliament confiscated our estates after the Jacobite Rebellions in 1715 in which my family sided with the deposed Stuart dynasty, kings of Scotland, England , and Ireland. We managed to buy our estates back, but we could not afford the installments , so were forced to sell all of it. Today, the Mackinnons who once held 300 sq kilometers of estates in Skye and Mull with income from some fifteen villages, can only visit these wonderful places and admire the lands we once owned. Many other nationalist families suffered the same fate. Some of them were executed and imprisoned.

  • One of the best teaching movies about Skye and the Isles. I have been twice on the Isle of Skye and in the Highlands. This is one of the best documentations took in HD on a video ever. The best way to enjoy this video, look it on your Smart TV with the youTube plugin available for the most newer Tv sets. If you´re planning an adventure in your holiday in Scotland this is a "have-to" before you´re go to plan a tour. 5 Stars to the Camera and the Cutter of that movie ! Very good work ! Go further on with such amazing movies of our Planet and - of course - Scotland. Yes for Scotland ! Thank you for this video! yours Jan

  • EXCELLENT!!! Highly Informative. Direct correlation to historical facts learned long ago! Exciting! Geologically fascinating! A land that has long fascinated my interest is now laid out like a platter! How I recall reading about the McDonald and the MacDougall clans! Now to see the land itself gives me the final perspective I've needed for soooooooo many years! Plus the Viking history! All, Totally Exhilarating! Completion of many books inclusive of encyclopedia books! Not only confirmed my mental images of the topical landscape but added even more! HUGE THANK YOU! 😃 TREMENDOUS THANK YOU! 🤗

  • I love Scotland, we climbed up to the Old Man of Stor (first clip), in wind and rain and mist. It was worth it even thouight we couldn't even see the top of the old man! We ended up at Durness, the very top of Scotland. Campervanning all the way.

  • 31 years since I took the ferry to Skye (no bridge then). Bed and Breakfast with the Cummins Family in Portree. Hiked up high oved the Heather washed peaks. One sunny afternoon, actually saw steam rise up from the woolen rug in my room. That is how damp it was. The Scots are a hearty tribe. Best food I had in the UK was in Skye and the Highlands. Twas a bonny vacation!

  • Scotland is a replica of serenity for its residents as well as the tourists. Almost every natured sight described here, uninhabited by the human civilization, is a sight to behold
