  • As a kiwi, I appreciate how humble and candid John has been in all the clips I have seen of him during the tournament. He is very down to earth. Definitely a coin flip for final I reckon - hopefully it is a good flowing game where the players decide the outcome.

    • @@caydenvandermerwe1566 Yep, it would be wonderful if the boks could play a flashy open game and beat the All Blacks, but the reality is that at the moment, this is beyond their abilities, we can however match them sometimes by playing a very physical confrontational type of game to try and stay in the fight, in the end the boks have to try their best to win the game within the laws the best way they can, there are many ways to play winning rugby and the boks have to do it the way that works best for them, history will really only remember the winners, very few will worry about the style of rugby played by the eventual winners.

However, if NZ takes it, I can think of no team more deserving. ❤ There has been a lot of nonsense coming our way from the southern hemisphere teams and throughout both SA and NZ have displayed respect, dignity and humility Good luck to both teams.     • Class comment mate. The respect and anticipation for any SA NZ test match is always the benchmark for any game - with the game itself being a true showcase of the best of test match rugby. The history of our clashes together are things only few sports could dream of. Hoping our men in black get it done but my god will your lot give us hell for trying. Actually, with our Springboks being accused of racist comments and death threats no less, I would say NZ znd SA Are the true Ambassadors of Rugby. Just remember we speak Afrikasns, so if your guys hear anything they think is suspect 😉 It is not. However, I do believe the AB have the intellect to grasp that. Here's to a fantastic game.   • South Africa's nr 1 enemy is the All Blacks. The world doesn't understand, we've been waiting for a final like this since 1995. Definitely didn't think this year would be it, because how good Ireland and France have become, but all the cards just fell into place and we FINALLY FINALLY got that final again. The one thing every South African kid has dreamt of for the past 23 years.

    • @@Algojo So,,,, We Springboks HATE kicking game, we always want to run with ball. The reason why you see this, is 1) Our coaches want to experiment at the wrong times. 2) Sometimes it works to apply pressure and force the opposite team to make mistakes. It's a massive gamble - and we generally HATE it. Nienaber is not a great coach and we've been fighting against him for 4 years now and it's getting annoying. Hopefully after this WC we get someone new.

    • If this SA side ran a lot and kept the ball in play they would lose a lot more. The pack is strong but not the most mobile, its huge but not that fit by modern standards. Duane is old, the front row are not a mobile front row like NZ. @@josephvanwyk2088

  • I'm biased but because of what the boks had to go through these last couple of games - the absolute grit they had to bring out of themselves, they deserve to win - they had the hardest road of any team to get to the final and that should count for something

  • What a refreshingly honest outlook from John Smit. I think he is spot on. He outlined the traits that can enable South Africa to wi on Saturday. However he also highlighted the more difficult path to the final that South Africa have had. My gut says New Zealand will win. I will be happy to be proven wrong. As a young democracy there's only been one thing that's been able to galvanize us, bring us together, bring us hope, drink beer together, shout and scream at the television with gay abandon, and that is the springboks.   • I think it is "the best" outcome, I actually called it 6 weeks ago, I'm so glad I was right, but more importantly I think it's so good that our 2 nations respect each other, because it makes us so relaxed obviously we want our nation's to win, but we,re not gonna slit our wrists if we lose ( like we would if the French or Irish won) so we can all enjoy this game for the belter it's gonna be
