This is the funniest thing I’ve read all week. Hahahahaha
Nah it's all about short throw dipsticks
You don't want to know how much the carbon ceramic wiper brakes on my P1 cost!
At least the blinker fluid was already topped up when you got it. One less thing to worry about!
I cant even imagine!!! Hopefully they are not damaged from the hurricane and can be reused!

Had to rewatch this video since there was not video today…Always replace my blades every April 1st..
I remember helping my grandpa with a repair like this on his old Chrysler. Being built in the 1970s, it had drum brakes on the wipers.
LMAOOO XD
😂
Ahh yea, my old buddies Peterbilt had huge wiper brakes because it was was a semi truck
I think Disc Brakes wipers was an optional. And in some cars wipers Brakes are behind the dash so you can't see it
@@fabidroidneo Yeah, on those you have to remove the entire dash, such a pain.
I made the mistake of not using DOT 3.5 blinker fluid when bleeding my wiper breaks and we all know in NJ inspection stations they check for wear and fluid level. Thanks again Chris for keeping me off track!😊 It's not like the old days when you had vacuum wipers when you pressed the gas pedal to the floor the wipers would just stop in the middle of the windshield.
Its very important to reminder Make sure machine the rotor!
Most will think you were joking. Yes, don't forget history or it might repeat :-0)
Don’t make the mistake of using amber signal fluid when you should have used red. My wife did that, had to drain and refill with correct color.
I boosted my wipers with a twin turbo kit for extreme performance. However, with that mod I had to go with very hard to find and VERY expensive drilled, slotted and double vented ceramic rotors to bring the wipers to a stop. Well worth the time and money!
Pure genius. I just installed a turbo on my washer jets. Works a treat.
I trust you redirected the blow-off valve airflow to dry the glass afterwards as well? ;)
@@realMrVent that's genius, I gotta set that up!

@@gilbertsbiogasexpertske1120You say that as a joke, but the current racing Hypercars actually do have coolers for the electronics behind the headlights.
@MrVent absolutely. 🙂. Add a little Party blower too. For added sound effects.
Keep in mind some older SUVs and trucks will use drums instead of calipers for the rear windshield wipers. Hope we can get a video on that soon!
Unfortunately, they are hard to find nowadays. JC Whitney still has them.
I am thinking I should do a wiper drum to disc conversion...
What about the exhaust brakes for the big rigs?
@@chrisfix what about doing a big brake upgrade for people who live in regions with lots of heavy rain??
More modern ones will use caliper brakes on the rear window. Also, most use TWD - Three Wiper Drive.
The effort in this is top of the line. Even custom printed cardboard boxes!
Since when do wipers have brakes??? I had to read the comments. Then, I notice someone talking about replacing the headlight blinker fluid and it all made sense. Great video!!
Haha thanks!
As a mechanic I love how this guy puts in the effort to make these so believable.
Making what believable? I just used this video as a how-to for my car. No more screeching wipers!
Zactly Mac! The guy is so thorough - but I do wonder how many takes he needs to not bust out laughing, lol

My car came with Carbon Ceramic Wiper Brakes, the dealer wanted $15,000 for replacements!
That's outrageous! Even the titanium disks are not that expensive. Almost, but not quite.
NEVER rely on a dealer for those. Perfectly good aftermarket Carbon Ceramic Wiper Brakes can be had for around 5K. Just shop around.
What’s up Samcrac
They do really try to rip people off, gotta say, You can get factory quality or even better for half that
What?! That’s way expensive even for carbon ceramic wiper rotors. I’d go aftermarket then.
I installed dual caliper Brembo wiper brakes just last week, huge upgrade in performance.
The upgrade is worth it. The Brembo wiper brake calipers are expensive tho!
huh? bro you joining some kind of wiper race?
@@chrisfix Good thing there are cheaper options!
I immediately ordered an OEM kit (incl. the ceramic disks, calipers, pads) for my Ferrari. They were on special and only cost me $4K at the dealer. Got lucky! Thanks Chris for this important video!
I recently bought a 2005 Tacoma. Mechanically everything checked out! Unfortunately, I didn’t realize after the purchase how badly rusted my wiper brakes and calipers were totally rusted out! I heard Toyota had a recall/class action suit on these but I guess the original owner never got the notice. Anyways, the dealer is replacing mine. So glad to find out now that I can do this job on my own. Thank you Chris!

I just turned mine yesterday at SnapCo Auto, they they included Water Bearing Lube this time👍
I've been working on my own cars for a couple decades, but I had no clue wiper brakes were a thing. Crazy!

Just a quick tip, from my experience, since these are linked to the brake system, you can help the wipers stop by pressing the brake pedal each time they reach the A pillar. That way, you won’t scratch your paint and it will give you a few months to get a replacement!

I wish I would have found this video sooner! It would have helped me tremendously when I upgraded my old stock wiper motor brakes system for the Brembo kit. Bleeding them was a bit tricky without help from a well trained friend. Be sure to top off your windshield wiper brake system reservoir while you are in there. I almost forgot. The reservoir in most vehicles is either next to or directly behind the blinker and flasher fluid reservoirs.
