That they can listen with dignity to the words of someone at the other end of the political spectrum to themselves with humility and appreciation...it belies how decent human beings can behave....that is a tribute as much to John McCain as to Barack Obama, and indeed the McCain family. This is how decent people behave and respect each other.

Treating all people fairly is representing the character of America is how President Obama described John McCain. “The spirit of striving to be better, to do better ...” above party lines. This is why children could have aspired to become President of the United States. No one is perfect, you can only strive to be the best you can be and to help bring out the best in others to achieve the best outcome for all. Let you without sin cast the first stone

If we believe it, we might be tempted to conclude that indecency and incorrectness automatically betray hidden kindness. This neither is true nor follows from the first. Even if a show of niceness were always dishonest, that wouldn't make a show of nastiness any less horrible. Just because some people may pretend to be smoother than they are, we don't need to celebrate the ones who act the self-centered, conceited bully. We need to stop believing those who sling dirt in the name of "saying it like it is". Instead, we should question their honesty. We should ask whether they're really the lone voice of truth they may claim to be or whether they're attention-seekers hoping to profit from our desperate need to hear something different, anything different, from our belief that anything different must be better than the platitudes we get to hear on a daily basis. Optimism shouldn't fool us into assuming that the grass must be greener elsewhere. It shows a dangerous lack of imagination if we think political correctness the peak of depravity and follow anyone who mirrors this belief.

The incredible surprise of Senator McCain asking the man who stood as the victor in his most prolific moment of defeat is a level of humility that leaves me speechless to this day. And President Obama’s masterful performance and portrait of a man with whom he vehemently disagreed but admired, respected, and loved is just the best display of compassion I have ever witnessed. I watch this every month to remind myself that I am a part of the greatest human experiment known to man, and I owe it to the lives I’ll never know to give my best to whomever I can as often as I can.

  • Damned president Obama exudes class but I am partial to our black president. President Obama is my role model and he makes me proud. I as a Hispanic celebrate our first black president and I live for the day one of my people becomes president. President Obama opened that door for minorities. Thank you president Obama for being the leader that minorities have yearned for. Rip senator McCain thank you for your service to our country. You are remembered for your courage and your unwavering support for our country. Thank you just isn’t enough. But we honor you for being a protector of our country. May god hold you in his holy and loving arms. I have the upmost respect for you. America loved you and you are held in the highest honor. Condolences to your loving family. May god give them peace.
