  • For anyone who doesn’t know. Eminem was accused of being homophobic and hating gay people. So when he appeared with Elton John it was a huge thing.

    • The best thing about all of this is that Sir Elton John approached him first, and publicly defended Em against people calling him a homophobic. Their friendship is freaking wholesome.

People tried to "cancel" Eminem well before cancel culture existed, claiming he was a homophobe because gasp, a dude from the streets had some homophobic sounding lyrics. He shut down the haters by doing this collab with Elton John, and they became lifelong friends. Elton John is one of his closest buds and ensures he always has a pal who understand drug abuse, that he can go to when he is considering relapsing. As far as I am concerned they are both legends as far as gay people are concerned, Elton John being gay himself, and Eminem being straight, but coming from a culture where being gay is kept low key, but coming out in great support of gay people and being great friends with one of the most flaming queens ever to show his support. I love and respect them both.

    • I thought it was pretty choppy. But almost every comment here is going on about how great Elton was. I like the original better, but Elton John f*cking rules (more as a solo artist than doing the chorus for Em.) I’m glad he performed with Em, but the contrast of Dido’s very smooth voice sounds better to me with this song. I’m glad everyone else loved Elton’s version though. Hopefully a lot of new people discovered his old songs through this. ❤
