This mountain lion plays just like a kitty cat when she discovers a swing.

2022 ж. 5 Қыр.

The kitty choose to sleep and rest next to this swing while feeding on a deer kill nearby. After two days she discovers it moves then proceeds to play with it before lying back down to sleep some more.
After feeding, sleeping and resting here for four days he gets displaced by bears.

    • This is apparently true: Cats are genuinely notorious in scientific circles as one of the worst animals to try to do reliable, consistent behavioural tests on, because there's almost no way of knowing if they're not doing something because they can't figure it out, or because they're so done with our shit that they just cannot be bothered to play along. It's possibly why Schrodinger did his famous thought experiment where an imaginary cat in a box is both alive and dead, because he couldn't bare the humiliation of discovering that cats have a whole range of quantum states, not least of which is "not even in your stupid box, monkey, because we know how to teleport" 😂

    • People have this notion that house cats are domesticated because they make themselves so comfortable, but they are wild animals. They never lose their hunt drive or instincts. One of my cats who is generally skittish even completely let's her guard down when she sleeps on my bed with me. I've never given her a reason to think I would even do something that she doesn't like because I've babied her since I got her at 11 months old. She also never learned the word "no" and we made it our business to treat her like a queen when learned that was a real term for female cats. Plus she's a super rare Arabian Mau female Tabby. Her body is unique from the other cats and she kind of looks like a cheetah body wise so that's another reason we treated her like that.

    • I think I read there is an estimated 20,000+ wild Mountain Lions in North America and only 20 deaths in the last 100 years. There's some photos of some very large and muscular Mountain Lions. Even a 80 pound Lion can kill a human; they are very strong and for the most part we are helpless, but it's rare. We can't run, we can't see, we don't have the sense of smell or hearing they have. It's believed they will see a hiker way before you will see them and they usually will go the other way.

    • @@vvelvettearss Very true, and it's a testament to domestic feline intelligence that they can figure out that a love bite for them is a painful bite for humans. I just saw a KZhead comment where someone said they rescued a wild cat, not a domestic breed, and it never learned to retract its claws when playing with humans. I theorize that this failure to learn was due to the fact that domestic cats possess a certain type of intelligence that wild cats do not possess. The reason why I get mild scratches and bites from cats is that I violate the Basic Rules of Safe Cat Interaction (BRSCI). The reason I violate the rules is because the cats trick me into doing it by being charismatic, overly-huggable (many humans have been wounded in retaliation for committing the sin of holding a cat for too long), or impressively athletic. It doesn't help that I refuse to have my cat's claws trimmed. I don't really mind the scratches - I just tell everyone I get them from participating in underground knife-fighting tournaments so I don't seem like a weirdo.

  • It's a pity she didn't try getting on the swing 😂 My domestic cat used to do the very same thing with my son's swing and tried to get on it. She eventually managed to get on and then wouldn't get off. She sat on my son's lap or squeezed in beside him. My son is 34 yrs old now but the swing is still there but birds love it. I do miss my cat tremendously. What we could learn from animals especially about Motherhood if we only tried. ❤

I saw that in their enclosures a lot of them were batting around a ball like a house cat bats around a toy mouse...then I realized they were 10lb bowling balls and they were flinging them around cannonballs and chasing them down to pounce on.
