Anyone else been buying the wrong type of screen? I always thought Hard OLED was the better option. I assumed hard meant built strong...
Yeah bro the first time I switched with a hard screen, I could easily see that it was cheap. After 1 month I found a refubish company that sold screens cheaper than aftermarket screens and from that day on I only held with the refurbish which can never let you down! :-)

I’m looking for a LCD screen to put on iPhone 13 because I cannot use iPhone 13 OLED! OLED gives me constant headaches!
Another job well done sir! Thank for putting out this information 👍🏻
Very thankful for this, not all of us have money to buy each type to try it out. So this is great for those who buy part by part wanting the best quality
Thank you for this!!! I was wondering about exactly this question.
Summary part at the end was the best keep it up Hugh!!
Thank you so much for doing this video!! I fixed a few phones before that, and only seemed to get crappy screens that would fail after a few months of use. It's just infuriating to know some manufacturers produce screens that are just bad. Like: what is the purpose? People buy them once, find its trash, then give up on repairing because it's too much money for what it's worth. Why sell that crap? Sell only the good screens, people pay more and get what they need!
As so many screens are up in market , smart phone screen invention has really changed our world the way how we see .It’s always good to know the best screen that suits for your phone. Thanks for sharing !! Bravo 👍👏👏
Great video as always Hughes! Thanks for the info. Will get the soft one

They all looked the same on Xs max oem.
anything that isn’t LCD is ok lol
Do you watch Jess from iPadRehab?
@@lifehackerhansol LCD is the best for ppl that use the phone a lot (not as a replacement for OLED equipped phones, but as an original LCD phone like the iPhone Xr). All those stupid OLEDs have burned in on me. Keyboard is burned in on my iPhone X. I can see it overlayed on all apps. Also WAZE is burned in. Stupid poop display. LCD is infinitely better. That at least does not break like the useless OLED display. Yes, OLED looks better to the eye, but it is NOT reliable. It degrades very fast.
@@Henry_Jr_Watsson oh no, that's not what I meant at all. I meant to get the display that matches the technology of the one that came with the phone. Say, if for some reason there is an OLED panel for your LCD phone, don't get that, get the LCD. In the case of an iPhone past the iPhone X, it would make more sense to buy an OLED panel since that's what it comes with. There's much less headache that way, especially if you want to use your old case. I got an LCD panel for my Galaxy S4 once, and I could no longer fit my OtterBox case on it anymore. I'm more careful of replacement parts after that.
thanks for this vid, great info, just in the process of replacing a screen 🙌
Great video. Exactly the information I was looking for
I'd really like a video showing touch performance of aftermarket. Because even refubished has an aftermarket touch digitiser. eg accuracy (perhaps drawing with a ruler and a conductive tipped pen), update speed using a slow motion camera, edge accuracy so it doesn't bleed over the bevels, distance to activation (as some can activate slightly before you actually touch), 3d touch consistancy and sensitivity (using something like the Roli 5d keyboard or Garageband). Thanks!
This has been very enlightening. My only problem now is where to find them especially the programmable ones.
Thanks Huge for the brief details I really appreciate you.

Excellent video man. Great comparison
Thanks a million for this video. I for one appreciate this review so much!! I have a hard time convincing customers which display they can prefer based on how much they want to spend to repair their iPhone. Some just don't want to spend too much while others just want the best. I do recommended pulling off an original display from a broken motherboard or locked iPhone. But not a very successive procedure and sometimes sellers want too much. So with comparison and reference to this i can always show them what's what and what's best.

All time Favourite repairing channel!
A few more general differences: - A decent LCD should have good viewing angles - LCD has slower response times, so things like scrolling will look blurrier - OLED has true blacks, since the pixels just turn off, instead of trying to block the backlight light from coming through
Mobile Sentrix's incell LCD screens have been very good for my customers.
@@ztechrepairs I’m thinking about getting this for my iPhone 12. Is the screen quality and viewing angles as goo as the oem?.
@@nasz687 NO not as good as the OEM. Thats why they arent as expensive. The XO7 incell are pretty dang good but if you want OEM get refurb/premium
And most important thing with OLED youll be blind sooner
My Samsung Galaxy A12 has very good LCD; viewing angles are good and it doesn't look yellow- or pink-ish

I replaced the LCD on my iPhone 8, the first one I ordered was damaged, and they sent a free replacement. It was $32.99 on Amazon and I got good tools, and I got to keep the damaged screen, so the replacement front camera might be able to be reused. It comes with a screw mat, good tools, screen protector, and waterproof seal. Sadly, I broke the home button.

I'm planning to buy soft oled for my xs max. Have you used it ? What's ur review on soft oled ?
@@razal.k wouldn't use different technology than soft oled. I have experience with GX soft oleds. They are decent, but there are better options. If you have the option to buy a refurbished original display, go for it (but only if you have the intention of keeping the phone for a long time.)

Hey nice video Just a question If we install gx screen and a third party battery Will software update have any issues ?
thanks man. big help
Keep in mind though refurbished OLEDs might also come cheaper if they come with certain burn ins. Finding one in A quality with no burn ins is indeed very expensive. Finding B grade ones can be a cost saving measure if small amounts of burn ins dont matter to you
This is the biggest issue I've found with refurbs. It has been very difficult getting an display with even and not discolored gray colors. 2/3 displays had big green tint. 1 of them was decent so I got it. Now I wonder if I should've pushed to see more panels or maybe gone for a good aftermarket one, since the one I got isn't good as the original one as well.
@@s2000. If you look at more reputable sellers (as opposed to be the cheapest thing you can find on ebay), they will usually tell you specifically for each panel what is wrong with it, or at least give you a letter to tell you what grade it is. If you get a B grade panel, burn ins are to be expected, and black spots for C grade. My Galaxy S5 panel has typical burn ins on the top status bar, and the S7 panel has more severe burn ins, but fortunately they don't have any discolourations or dimples or such major problems This guy will recommend ifixit panels, but you can see those panels are not worth it if you are fixing a 4+ year old device

Nice video and thanks for the comparison. From watching this, I would probably go Soft OLED, since the LCD is inferior in terms of viewing angles and display, the Hard OLED is too fragile, and the OEM (albeit the best) is likely going to be too expensive. Having said that, I'd go OEM if the difference was only a few £s.
Hard OLED isn’t bad at all, he’s scaremongering to an extent. the chances of a hard OLED breaking without the glass also cracking is slim, the damage he is showing is from install error.
@@giomxx hard old is fragile, I've broken one installing it yesterday and had one I previously replaced also come in without a cracked screen but a cracked oled. I also only replaced phones at school every once in a while, so they are VERY delicate.
@@abraamsamor7418 good job ressurecting a 2 year old thread. 😂
@@giomxxAnother 7 months later Ill also revive it, since it doesnt matter how much time passes, your comment is wrong. Hard oleds are fragile and break easier, I've seen this type of thing happen very often on such replacement parts. He was very valid in warning people of its fragility.
@@danii2609 any idea how the quality of gx hard oled for iphone 12???? i got it installed and i am scared i might break it
Well now I know what replacement screen to go for in the future
Hard OLEDs suck. I had one on my iPhone X, and when I pulled the phone out of my pocket the screen was damaged really badly, but I didn’t do anything. The glass was undamaged also. After that, I went with an original panel. Colors and strength are much better.
How to get original panel?

Thank you for the information...
ironic that in this video, whether it be because of the angles or whatever, the OEM vs the OEM refurbished were the two displays where I saw the most discrepancy between the colours on the test output haha
Just replaced my pixel 4a screen glad I went with soft oled. It looks just like the original. I doubt anyone would notice the difference, I sure don't. If you want quality and save a few bucks, go with the soft. I am very satisfied with the results.
What about the true tone?
Since an OEM display is an original display with a new glass, doesn't this mean it should have some OLED degradation or burn-in depending on its previous usage?
Yes, finding a pristine quality OLED refurbished one is not only uncommon, but expensive. Not as expensive as an actual brand new one, but still expensive.
Perfect, thanks
