  • Love how you point out issues you don’t like. I am learning more every time I watch. Had to laugh though. When you said “no good, no good, no good” it reminded me of my Dad. He always said ‘NBG (no bloody good)’ when he wasn’t happy with something. Took me years as a child to work out what he meant. Well done again.

  • The green--it's a warm, yellow toned green as opposed to a blue green--complements the warm golden tones of the wood, and the monochromotic look is serene and lovely. Really like that this butternut makes a lightweight piece. Nice!

  • Loving the exposed rim sides! I feel like they named this color of green wrong. It's more of an olive or autumn leaf green. But I actually think it works well with the more yellow-y butternut. Would be interesting to see if it gets more vibrant with the ghost pearl (I think that's the name) added to it!

  • I've seen some very nice butternut and this piece is right up there with them! I like the darker green better than what it could have been. Pistachio is quite bright and almost fluorescent. I think that would have taken away from the butternut. I like brighter resin on less interesting wood and less obtrusive colors when the wood is phenomenal...like this one. Perfect! Call it "Spiders and Snakes".

  • Gotta say I was with you & a lot of your commenters in being doubtful about the pistachio to start with, but wow that ended up nice! It's a great complement to that lovely butternut, especially with how big that crack ended up being. I love the look of bright colors, but I must admit that for some things being a bit more subtle is just the right way to go, and this was one of those cases! Great job!

  • You mentioned that you thought the color was drab. You could add a glitter or ghost pigment into the resin along with the color to get some of the effects you might be looking for but didn't know that you needed. Another beautiful bowl.

  • It’s a lovely bowl Jim. Thanks for the tip on using scotch brite pads to buff in the Polyx-oil. I haven’t had great results with it so far as I find it’s very streaky, despite trying all sorts of different methods of applying it. I’ll definitely try the pad the next time. Really liked the different rim and the colour. 👏
