He showed up at the press conference with his crying shades on, then dipped out almost immediately. He's never shy about running his mouth when he's up, but when he's down, there's always some really bitchy cope he comes up with to try and excuse the loss or make sure the narrative remains about him (the "I made another dream come true" bit after getting schooled by Strickland). He really makes it so easy to hate him.
I won't defend any of his antics, especially what he did with his dog, but Paulo Costa is a piece of shit and deserved that. The celebration after his win vs Pereira was petty, and he shouldn't have done that. Costa merits no respect.

I used to love Izzy man, but ever since the belt he's been different. Izzy's latest downfall was due to much more than just his racist approach towards Dricus. The way he always looked for excuses in defeat, immediately shot down the opportunity for a Pereira rematch, the dog 'thing', and worst of all, his total lack of charisma, which shone brightest during the Cannonier press conference, where he got verbally dominated by Strickland. It's been wave after wave of downhill for Izzy, and the win against Pereira was just the odd period of sunlight where people hoped to place hope in him again, just for him to throw it all away with more embarrasment and childlike attitude. I swear man it's like watching a pre-teen acting up for clout, but the pre-teen is a 34 year old manlet. Check what Pereira's fanbase's reaction was to his loss. Now do the same with Izzy's. There's a reason his following is just as hollow as he is.

It's funny because even though I understand everything you guys are saying about Izzy, he is still my favourite fighter. (Izzy, Jones and Silva top 3 fighters of all time in my opinion). Let's not forget that Izzy has been an extremely active champion and has never pulled out of a fight. He wouldn't admit it himself but burnout is a real thing. There are things to pick about everyone so yeah... Jon Jones being arrested and screaming like a child shouting "i hate you" to police offers whilst drunk and just having beat his wife in a hotel isn't my favourite moment either but he's still in my top 3.

I wish Izzy took a different path after beating Pereira. He had so much goodwill but instead he decided to turn heel for no reason. It made it easy for Strickland to get the audience to turn against him and probably put more unnecessary pressure on himself.
In Izzy's older fights he seemed way more dynamic. Using elbows/Knee's/fighting in the clinch/actually using combo's/using intelligent offense/More abstract movement & attacks. Nowadays he seems so rigid & predictable. He uses way too many feints compared to how little offense he utilizes.. He will throw like 1 or maybe 2 strikes at most.. spaced apart in a slow paced manner.. he shuffles his feet & leg kicks, and the occasional attempt at a head kick but since his patterns are so similar lately it's really easy for people to catch on. He also got in the bad habit of shelling up against the fence when he's being hit, instead of getting out of the way. He doesn't take some to give some, to break thru his opponents offense to build combo attacks.. There is so many things he COULD do, but he just doesn't.. idk what him or his team are thinking if they think they "found the best approach or something?" It's definitely not it... He has to change things up..

One thing that interests me more than this whole situation is how much people love to hate Izzy. It's nothing like the odd person who wanted McGregor to lose because arrogant people are always polarizing. It's super interesting. As much as I don't like Izzy I doubt this affects him much. He may not be able to win title as long as Strickland holds it but make no mistake about it, as soon as Strickland loses that title Izzy will prob win it back from whoever holds it. Unless it's returning Pereira lol. His is bullying rest of the division with his height and reach advantage. I will be honest here, as happy as I am for Strickland I can't lie I wish Pereira became LHW champ and came back down, Ko'd Izzy and took him belt too. One of izzy's greatest issues is that he takes himself way too seriously. I love him, and have dedicated a lot of my personal time to his content and story, but he needs to realize that the gap between him and the rest of the division was never really that massive, and he remained on top for so long because of his work ethic. He shouldn't be so shaken after a loss to not even be able to withstand a press conference.. In a way he creates these story arcs himself, being the most active champion of all time leaves room for spectacular wins and spectacular losses. We should treasure him that we have a fighter who enables these story lines and embrace him while he is here.

We HATE bad sportsmanship, especially a bad winner. That sort of nonsense will be beaten out of you in primary school. We tell it like it is & we expect others to do the same. Izzy is none of those things & his accent doesn't sound anything like he's from New Zealand, let alone Australia. BTW, there is no such thing as an "Oceania accent". Much of Oceania is made up of non English speaking Asian & Island nations. There's dozens of different accents. There's a reason Izzy was booed at every appearance he made while Sean was cheered at all of his appearances.

Izzy said it took a lot of convincing to make it happen. He basically promised the UFC that he would win, so that afterwards, they can resume building the Driscus fight with their beef. Please, no more making excuses for Izzy with no evidence.

He's been in nothing but title fights since 2019, moved up a division because he cleaned out his division twice. Came back, lost the belt, won it again, and lost it to someone he absolutely underestimated.
