Souness saying that he was just happy to get to tournaments because we’re a small country. This is what’s wrong with us. In the 70s/80s we had some of the best players on the planet but were just happy to turn up.

In the 70s and 80s he was wrong. We had similar/better players than England, Netherlands, France, Spain. They all thought they could/should be winning tournaments then.
I really believe that the Germans love it when they are called horrible before a tournament. The pressure is off. I saw Germany play against France and Musiala and Wirtz were really good. Scary good.
lmao the pressure is not off for Germany, they're the host country, they have plenty of pressure. Hopefully they perform well though as I enjoy watching them. They've been very inconsistent w/ Nagelsmann so far, but it's early days.
I know. I live in Germany 🇩🇪 but they kind of have this way of “Oh, the national team sucks” so there aren’t many exceptions put on them. It’s weird. They don’t overhype them if you know what I mean.

It's the logical progression. We've yet to do it so that has to be the goal.
Dutch game was strange match. Terrible defending but actually better team much of match
The 4-0 was in no way an accurate reflection on how that game went though. Scotland looked the better side for the vast majority of that game. Even Koeman thought so. Some of the football we were playing was unbelievable. We could and probably should have been 2 up at half time as the Dutch barely threatened and then out of nowhere they score a screamer. We didn't collapse after that. We immediately retook control of the game and should have scored another 3. Lack of a top quality striker is the only thing missing from that side. The Dutch got a sloppy 2nd goal in the 70th minute and then the defence just collapsed. Dutch smelled blood and scored 2 more quick goals. Thats the difference between Scotland and the top nations right now. We need to be more ruthless in front of goal. We do that, we should get out of the group.

Completely obvious that Souness didn't see any of the Netherlands game. Scotland were brilliant for 70 mins.
Will be difficult for Scotland to get out the group imo, I'm scottish and think we will finish 3rd at best, I hope I am wrong but feel we don't have enough experience at international tournaments, as long as we keep qualifying and hopefully improve our team squad over the next decade or so.
Swiss and Hungary are decent will be tough.
I know a 4-0 result looks like a one-sided affair but it wasn't Scotland did everything other than put the ball in the back of the net and now we have a goalscorer ( granted only done it in the Scottish league ) but never the less let's see what happens but this wasn't a one-sided spanking far from it

Germany will turn up as they tend to do at Tournaments. Hoping for the best for Scotland though. The home nations being in it, is always a plus.

It wasn't a 4-0 game to be fair. if it was a draw or either team had won by a goal you couldn't of complained. They took chances Scotland never, but it wasn't the score the performance deserved.

I only watched the first half and we were so tidy and netherlands didn’t really get a sniff apart from that wonder goal. No clue what happened in the second half

England will be lucky to make the quarter finals. I’ve been doing this for 45 years now and England will always let you down.
Scotland going by current form will definitely not get out of the group. You don't have to be a genius in the odds to figure that out. Certainly going from history which means more than folk think scotland always completely bottle it at every tournament and will do so again. Scotland have qualified for many many tournaments in their history-you could literally only say one was a qualified success and that was Germany 1974. The rest of the many tournaments they've played at have been abject failures.
Nothing expansive about 90% of international games I watch, apart from the actual tournament, international football is dire

We will have a plucky loss in first game, draw the middle game and get pumped in the third. It's our way. I'm 49 and all expectations of ever getting out the group stage of a tournament is non existent. It's just the way it is.
The opening game of Euro 24 is the worst possible for Scotland.

Belgium's pop is 10 million. Netherlands is 20 million.

You should probably watch the France Germany game that just happened. Germany is ALOT better now with Kroos running the midfield and Musiala and Florian Wirtz playmaking. Souness went on Bellingham who constantly got fouled by Paqueta & Brazil team because he didn't ride out the challenges in a friendly & risk a injury. Funny how Souness goes on Bellingham & not the many English stars who faked injuries for their clubs, including Harry Kane, Saka & so on.
