  • Neither club owe England anything, FFP has necessitated clubs have to do things like this (even though in NUFC owners have funds to not need to) so they can compete/spend etc.

    • Nufc do need to because they can't spend what they want to due to the lack of off field earnings, which means they are affected by ffp

The rich and powerful always look after their own kind unfortunately the sheep of the world just don’t get it and lower their heads in deference. • It maybe worth noting that the Spurs v Newcastle match in Australia is 3 days before the cup final. The players will probably return in time to watch the Cup Final. Should the Cup Final be postponed to after the Euros. Spurs and Newcastle are welll within their rights to do this trip to grow their revenue stream. Especially Newcastle if they have FFP issues

  • Living in Melbourne, working in the sports industry, and so seeing the demand for football and in particular Tottenham, it is clearly evident that Tottenham have an Australian opportunity to capitalise on here. Having already committed to a pre-season tour in Asia, and as others have said, it is technically before the end of the English domestic season, what doesn't make perfect sense?!

    @goodwin9114@goodwin9114Ай бұрын
    • From a Newcastle point of view that's an easy answer, Mike Ashley. He had no interest in trying to be successful, grow the Newcastle brand so therefore Newcastle now have an uphill fight to generate more revenue.

  • This is possibly the stupidest, most pointless debate I've heard in a while. As others have already pointed out clubs need money for FFP and are quite entitled to take their players wherever they like, whenever they like. A long trip but they'll be in the lap of luxury the entire time. Tiring for sure but they can take a few days to recover when they return. As far as the Euros go, thats just tough. Hopefully they'll be sensible with regard to fatigue and injuries while helping to make their brands better known across the world.

  • Jordan isn't defending Levy, much as it might seem like it sometimes. He is the voice of a chairman at every club. The more that players earn, the more games that clubs will need to play, otherwise the cost gets passed on to the fans even more than it is already.

  • Putting all that aside for a moment, yet again Newcastle players like it or not are travelling miles and miles to play and train in heat and then return to Luke warm. For no reason other than a bit of a money and sales pitch thing. We did this in the summer in America and it lost half our squad, tired us out chronically and made no positive differences whatsoever. But the board etc won’t learn. I saw the red flags during that tour instantly, look at our bench then, and the body language during interviews of certain players and it wasn’t the same enthusiasm that the coaches had etc. So you go and do that, spurs as well, daft as it is, meaningless, and you’ll get no end result at all except yet more carting bags around on ya hols and being over tired when your back!

  • The FA play relatively meaningless friendlies at every available opportunity. Why? Because it's commercially viable and a revenue stream. Do they care about player welfare? Of course they don't. Would they care about Newcastle United if Anthony Gordon gets injured playing against Brazil or Belgium and missed the season run in? Of course they wouldn't. The players primary responsibility is towards the needs of their club, and they are contractually obliged, and paid handsomely, to adhere to their clubs wishes. Jim White whining about the Euros is quite frankly pathetic.
