--------------------------------------------------------------------
In the second episode of Car Trek series 6, AutoTempest challenges the guys to drive to Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, an extremely technical track in Oklahoma. The first challenge is to get the most lateral G-forces without spinning. Ed's Porsche 996 is in no shape for under or oversteer, but maybe his racing pedigree can save him. Freddy's Toyota Supra has the power it needs, but turbo lag makes it a bit hairy in the handling department. And Tyler's Pontiac Trans Am WS6 is all over the place, as usual.
They are then challenged to race their old Car Trek cars, including the Maserati Coupe GT, Ferrari 456, Ferrari 360, and Nissan Maxima. Strap in. This is going to get bumpy.

  • I actually love Ed's 996. It's got battle scars. It's a car that you can drive hard without remorse. Supras are fun and cool and all, but I'd be scared to really push Freddie's car just based on its value alone, and that makes it a little bit less fun. That 996 you can drive at 10/10ths all day long and not really even get into trouble. Tyler's car is cool, makes nice noise and has good power, but belches smoke everywhere and constantly falls apart, never mind that hideous late 90s/early 2000s GM styling inside and out. Okay, the WS6 isn't that bad looking outside, it's styling has maybe started to come around a little, but that interior is garbage and the build quality is unfortunately typical of GM from that era. At least it's got an LS in it. That car is begging for better tires.

    @rars0n@rars0n2 жыл бұрын
    • I agree with most of this, except the Trans-Am. Yeah, it smokes, but it's an LS engine... One trip to The Car Wizard, and a few hundred bucks, and that thing won't smoke for atleast half a decade... And it's not worth much either way, so you can beat the snot out of it with no remorse. And if something breaks in the process... It's an LS engine! Couple hundred bucks, and you're back on it. The Trans-Am is not beautiful, it's not high class or amazing build-quality, but if you're looking for fun-per-dollar... It's about as good as it gets.

    • @@dekkerlundquist5938 I'm sorry but if any driving instructor was to tell you that the proper way to negotiate a corner at speed in a high hp rwd car with bad tires is with one hand on the wheel and the other holding onto the gear shift lever, run far away from that instructor. The car is a pig for sure, but that driving technique is what's worse.
