I think the reason she used different wands was because there wasn't matching wands so she was using the closest version/result. I don't think TikTok should have gotten the point since Amazon's looked better. Sometimes cheaper and faster doesn't mean anything when paying a little more looks better.

The quality of both of the first dresses is so different; honestly they both are pretty but the fabric and stitching of the blue is so much better than the pink. I would rather pay for the Amazon dress if I knew there would be such a big quality difference between the two dresses

Same. Sometimes saving a bit of money is not worth the difference in quality and if I am looking at a nice dress, I am going to go with quality over price if there is that little difference. Now if we were talking multiple hundreds or thousands of dollars that would be different. I think I would look for a totally different dress at that point because I just don't think the pink looks very nice. It looks cheap.

As someone who worked at Amazon, I can tell you these are just bulk-produced items that got sent to any big company willing to handle them. The ones missing stuff or without proper packaging were most likely customer returned items that were sent back to the originally seller to do with whatever they deemed. A lot of sellers will simply resell them "as is" whereas Amazon itself goes through a damage/return process. A lot of the time sellers will dump their products at warehouses and refuse to handle any returns or damages or even refuse to take them back (I've seen products sit for 9+ months), but usually Amazon will gather returned or damaged items and ship them back to the seller if there are issues. It's a headache with drop-shipped and mass produced items tbh. An incredible waste of everyone's time, money, and energy imo.

I think the bubble curler has a learning curve. I feel like you maybe put the hair in between the bubbles, and over the bubbles for a different effect.

It’s the exact same product from the same company the only reason there were different attachments is because Wavytalk has different bundles and if she would have looked further on Amazon she would have found the bundle with the same attachments from the TikTok shop. Also this device is known for the heated brush because it’s a dupe for the Amika blowout babe thermal brush so honestly this was comparing apples to oranges. I love Hope so no disrespect.

Am I the only one who was skeptical on the charger results? Batteries wear down differently, so using two different phones isn't exactly fair. 😭 I would've preferred seeing the same phone for both and timed, though I know it'd take longer to test those products.
Exactly! She either should have used two phones of the same make and model. Or drained one phone, timed how long to charge to wake on TikTok charger, then repeated the experiment with the same parameters for the Amazon charger. That would have been a better test. But certainly not a scientifically rigorous test

When you make your money from Tik Tok you are going to give it better reviews. Many of these tests were set up so tik tok would win. I bought the camera for my niece for $10 on Amazon for Easter. Way cheaper than what she paid.

It's all the same things though. They're ALL dropshipped from China, and the sellers on Amazon just charge more because they can, and will still make sales. In the end most of them are the same exact products. Not including the original products that have been duped of course.... but Amazon is like...99% dupes at this point.

And the tiktok one used the same picture. This is why I would never buy off tiktok. You might get the same thing for a better deal but more likely you’re just getting a crappier version of the real thing. Especially when it comes to clothes.

Okay, nitpicky, but the scientist in me is upset: The phone charger test wasn’t really fair. What are the relative strengths of the batteries in the different phones? Had one been dead longer than the other?
and will one kill your battery faster? I have read so much conflicting information on those types of chargers that so far I have stuck with just the chargers that come with my phones or ones that I have replaced from Apple directly. And I hate spending that kind of money if I knew I could trust a different, less expensive charger no matter the type. But dang... phones are expensive.

Rather than 3 sweaters bought for a season, then throw them away when they fall apart, you buy one sweater and can wear it multiple years.

I don't think the curling iron is the fairest test when you use two different barrel types, especially since you are far more experienced with the straight barrel than the bubble style barrel that you've struggled with before. I appreciate all the hard work you and your team put into these videos, though.

Something to consider, since Amazon is guilty of this, too, is that when businesses like these try to get a hold on the market, they will lower their prices for the same products to try and get people into their service over the ones they already know and drive other online retailers out of business, so I definitely wouldn't put it past TT. Amazon famously has done this for medication and books, and once they got what is essentially the monopoly on the online store/shipping market, the prices went waay back up, and now they can charge whatever they want since it's one of the only places you can get stuff online.
I’m sorry but the fact that hope was so surprised with the “shipping cost more than the item” is so funny to me as a Canadian cuz that’s literally everything all the time for us. $5 dollar product? $15-20 shipping and then customs on top of that!

The biggest advantage of Amazon for me is how easy it is to return items. I'm way more willing to give something a try from Amazon because I know I can return it with no cost and no hassle.
Fun fact: TikTok Shop is the one who gives a discount not the actual shop itself that's why some of the items were cheaper like Halara one.

I think that the Tiktok shop is doing the same thing that Temu does which is they put their price lower to make people buy from them. I've read that Temu loses 80% of their profit with their sales, and long term, that won't be sustenable for them. So because everything is cheap on TikTok or Temu for the same products compared to Amazon doesn't mean that these prices are going to be that low forever.
You’re right, Temu has already begun raising prices on the same items we were getting in the beginning for half.
That’s the business model for a lot of new business. They price low or do something to take a loss that way they break into the market but once they establish themselves they slowly raise prices or stop the deals so they can at least break even.
And it takes weeks to get your items!!
It’s because they expect people to buy more for less. So instead of buying one thing for $50 you end up spending $50 on about 20-30 different things because they’re so cheap.

Here in Brasil there was a sudden surge of this app called Shopee that looked just like AliExpress and everything was really cheap with no shipping and there was crazy sales all the time (I bought a bag of little rocks to put on my succulents for R$1,00 with no shipping), but now they only offer no shipping above a certein price and lower the price on promo days. Gone are the crazy big disconts but the costumers still use the platform and it became something everybody has downloaded on our phones and use all the time. Its strategy.

Amazon is always going to win for me because the customer service and return process is so easy. Also they replace missing packages no questions asked. I like the peace of mind.
Just one word of caution about TikTok shop (I still buy from it, but do so with this knowledge); with my first order the post office tracking said my package was delivered but it wasn't. I got another package that day (different business) so I knew the mail had been delivered. I called the post office and they dug into the tracking number and surprise surprise, they have been finding that the drop shipping companies are using the same tracking number and shipping labels to pay for shipping of multiple packages and just changing the addresses on the labels. The post office found that the package with my tracking number sent by the TikTok shop was not even addressed to me or my address. The post master told me this is sadly not the first time they have found this to have happened.

Girl, these are all drop shipping. It costs more to sell on Amazon = higher price and you’re paying for quick shipping with Amazon name. When seeing it on sale, it helps push product and is viewed more. Just a sales tactic. When buying from brands, they pay more for brand shops & branding. So higher prices.
cider and halara and items sold directly from amazon (aka everything) is not drop shipped
Also, without her showing her going through the search bar for everything she got through amazon, there is no way to be sure she just didnt purposely pick a higher priced vendor. A lot of the time, there are multiple sellers with a wide range of prices.

The dress and curling wand from amazon should have gotten the point. The tiktok mirror was advertised as having rounded edges so that was false advertisement on their end. The battery test I'm confused, batteries wear out differently, not to mention idk if it's the same iphone model. A better test would have been to drain out and recharge the same phone and time it out Something i missed out is if the same stuff you got from your personal tiktok had different shipping prices on your public tiktok I do love your videos and all the time you and your team put into them, so I wanted to give my 2 cents because I know you'll improve for a next one. ❤

For the mirror- I think they were advertising the rounded edge one, but in order to get the better deal I had to get the straight edge one. The amazon one was just the cheapest available one I could get of that style regardless of the shape

@hopescope As a poor person who loves dresses, I respectfully disagree with saving the $80 for a dress that doesn't look nearly as good as it should. You buy the best one, not the cheapest. This will end up the better choice, not only in quality but it is more likely to get more usage. So, broke me would rather put in the extra money for a beautiful dress that fits and looks great. I'd wear it often enough to feel the money spent was worth it.

You can return any item to Temu with no hassle. All you have to do is keep the inner bag item came in and pack the items and THEY pay for return shipping.

An awesome point! To add on how long the refunds take to get. I imagine Amazon would win that hands down. Drop my return merchandise off and the credit comes before I get home. I did a return for tiktok and it was a terrible experience. It never let me access the return label, the page would say "this page is processing please check again tomorrow" and it said that for almost a week. And to get ahold of anyone was terrible too. Took almost a month to get it figured out and tiktok just ended up refunding me and told me to donate the items. So in the end it worked out for me but I would have rather have had a smooth normal return.

Just so you know I use that bubble looking curling iron almost everyday. It does work it just needs a little getting used to. How I use it is to take a piece of hair, what you had is perfect then wrap the hair between the bubbles. Next I flip the whole wand upside down. Once the hair is ready to come off then I pull the piece of hair downward lightly. Hope this helps hope. Btw I love your vids so much! Also you should review the brand Altar’d State. I love hope so much, but I really don’t think fast fashion and quick disposable items like this are something she should be influencing so much. It’s really bad for the environment and the majority of the places these things are produced are terrible to their workers or even use child labor. I love hope but I just don’t really like that she’s promoting buying from places like this so much.

There's a factor that wasn't considered - how easy is it to return an item to a TikTok shop if there are any issues. For me, I'd lean way more towards Amazon because it's so easy to tag them with issues and get your money back. I'd really love to know what it's like for TikTok shop.
If the quality was better, regardless of price, I'd have given the point to quality... like you did with the lashes. Thank you for showing the TikTok shipping is kind of crazy sometimes. These influencers act like you can get it so cheap and they don’t mention the shipping, I have had where the shipping is more than the product several times.
I don’t think you should be using Amazon prime for these videos, as it’s not actually free and lots of people can’t afford a monthly subscription just for free shipping. Plus prime is also faster shipping, you wait a lot longer when you don’t have prime.

well don't forget the 'fast shipping' from amazon does come with a monthly fee - so that does count - the shipping isn't 'free' but depending on how much you purchase it isn't a lot. 🙂

CURLER UPDATE: Hi, I purchased this in December. For the bubble wand, its being used wrong. its supposed to give a certain wave, like a spiral. It is also meant to be used for smaller pieces. NOTE: I purchased mine from AMAZON. I use this bubble wand often and everyone loves the curl it girls. I have also used it on my friends and they too love it.
You could have just done one eye with both of the lashes and divided the amount of lashes used per one eye with the amount of the lashes in the packets.

I'm 100% not an influencer on TikTok and I get free shipping deals frequently with them. Especially if you order certain products they're doing deals on.
