  • I'm 25 years old and a sims KZheadr just taught me that SOS means save our souls. I don't know wtf I thought it stood for all these years but not THAT. I feel supremely stupid rn. Thanks for the education, Satch 😂

    @LollyHolly557@LollyHolly55722 күн бұрын
    • i was always taught it meant save our ship! maybe its a regional thing

      @alyssa6510@alyssa651019 күн бұрын
    • It's save our ship. Message in a bottle tossed overboard from a sinking ship with SOS written on it, in hopes it would wash ashore and someone would find it.

      @Gerrly@Gerrly16 күн бұрын
    • @alyssa6510 I literally thought it was just morse code. I'm actually a historian and it seems like it is more likely just a morsecode message that people have ascribed a proper meaning to. Save our ship makes sense too. Save our souls is so dramatic lmao which I guess is fair if you're literally dying

      @LollyHolly557@LollyHolly55715 күн бұрын
    • @Gerrly This makes a bit more sense. A lot of people claim its just a morse code message though and people have ascribed this meaning or Save our Souls to what was essentially a generic coded message for help. Save our souls feels so emo to me haha

      @LollyHolly557@LollyHolly55715 күн бұрын
    • It doesn't "mean" anything, never did. The letters are just coincidental. It was designed as a very simple message that would be readily understood even by untrained people. It was so effective that we still recognize it even decades after it has stopped being relevant. "S" and "O" are the easiest letters to recognize in Morse code. ... _ _ _ ... There's your SOS. Any other set of letters would have been less obvious to people who didn't know the code. Plus, it was a random set of letters, unlikely to be confused with some other abbreviation.

  • Oasis Springs park is my favorite community space to build on. I put a pool in, loads more playground stuff, a toddlers area with a splash pad, and a cemetery in the back for my funeral club to meet at.

    @kimmycook2698@kimmycook269824 күн бұрын
    • I do a lot the same. Graveyards are great for parks and oasis springs is best for pools. If you use sims sessions stuff by searching in the gallery and some imagination you can make a base game compatible camp area. shrinking down fireplaces can make a camp fire work too. It fits the exploration element of the secret world by the oasis springs park..

  • Some of my tips: Use multiple roof pieces to minimise trim overlapping. The Crystal Clear item (island living) is useful for skylights on flat surfaces. Get TOOL if you can to move objects off the lot. If you can't, some objects are still placeable hanging off the lot to some degree (possibly MOO only). For instance, cottage living animal do not need the shed to be on the lot at all. But if you don't have TOOL be careful placing them, if you can't grab any part of the physical shed item, without TOOL they will be stuck there forever.

  • My favorite trick is building second empire homes with mansard rooves. Similar to the attic trick you showed us where you put those corner roof pieces around the box, you can add windows to the box to make it a more livable space. You have to do more fenagling with the roof pieces, but it looks great and isn't too difficult once you've figured out how to do it.

  • A sunken area three levels deep is a great way to hide a rocket on the lot. A ladder will go all the way down to the base level. You can further camouflage it with fencing and landscaping or even build your house around it. I repurpose lots all the time. My favorite is Umbrage Manor in Willow Creek converted into a library. It went from a lot I never played in to one I use all the time. It’s also much better than the library that comes with the game.

  • Thanks SoS 😂❤ I’ve been playing for so long and have not really understood some of the simple building tricks like the sunroof overlaying which I guess is not my level of intuition. I really like the idea of the split lot in preexisting builds because I like keeping the original concept of the build when it fits with the world, but actually having more options for my sims to do stuff around their town. Good stuff! I watch every day - favourite time of day is having my afternoon tea and watching SoS ❤❤

  • The most searched lots on the Gallery are for Basegame but there are very few actual basegame builds, you need a dozen or more packs and kits to download them. I don't use anything other than the basegame and free stuff that was added to basegame in my Gallery uploads, most are for single Sims or couples but occasionally make larger builds for families of 4 or 5 and I add most of the basic furnishings and a wee bit of decor. I'm actually pretty new to The Sims 4, less than a year, my in-game name is still random letters and numbers but my profile pic is the same as my KZhead pic, Yin Yang Zombies. It would be cool if a KZheadr gave reactions or breakdowns or whatever of builds from players like myself, Basegamers. My latest upload to the Gallery is called Murgatroyd Manor, I also have a couple others like Serenity Now and Kitty's Corner as well as a couple Community Lots like The Old Swimmin' Hole, Flying Llama Park and Rocko's Gym. Yeah, builds including furnishing takes a LOOOOOONG time, I get why a lot of players prefer downloading ready-to-move-in-and-play homes if they only have an hour or two to play at a time, it would take them a week or more just building a decent home and that is a gamebreaker for a lot of people.

If I had my choice it would be the other way around but instead I think people should respect other countries saying things differently. I like to learn the differences and where they came from.. I don't want everyone the same. That would be utterly boring and be a huge loss in culture
