  • I think AJ found his highest level after the two Usyk fights and he's now taking the pressure off himself to be in a better place in his career where he can enjoy it more. Fair play to him and wish him well.

  • I've never been an AJ fan but the pressure this guy has had since winning Olympic gold was too much in my opinion. What he has achieved is quite impressive in such a short amount of fights, I've always been a Fury fan but it's hard not to respect AJ.

    • Unfortunately this racial stereotyping gives real AJ fans like me a bad name, I have to be honest that we was warned that AJ was a hyped manufactured fraud but we never listened, he’s capitulated over the years since quitting to Andy Ruiz and now he’s become a lost puppy. That BLM speech was also a huge pivotal moment in the “ Stella drinking fans” as you say turning on him, BLM have since then been exposed.

    • @WB why keep it to Joshua??? Let's keep it factual. Fury & Wilder stayed out the ring 20 months.....fought each other and then Wilder was out a further 12 months. Ruiz lost to AJ and spent 17 months out the ring before fighting Arreola then another 15 months before fighting Ortiz. Wallin has fought 5 times in 3 and a half years and all against nobody......so activity doesn't exactly mean anything right now either. Parker has had periods of inactivity as long as 12 months and between losses to AJ & Whyte and losing to Joyce didnt fight a top 10 fighter in 4 and a half years. Joyce since 2020 has only fought once or twice a year at best.......just over 1.5 fights a year on average. Dubois has fought twice a year since 2020 and had only one meaningful fight........and lost it. Whyte's only fought 4 times since 2020.....that barely averages once a year. Hrgovic has only fought 5 times since 2020 which isn't even 1.5 times a year on average. Ortiz fought 3 times since 2020........and average of 1 fight a year and he didn't fight at all in 2021........same deal for Charles Martin........and Helenius also had 3 fights since 2020....as is also the case for Kownacki........all one fight a year. Bakole is in the one fight a year since 2020 club too. Jermaine Franklin didn't fight at all in 2020 or 2021. Even Chisora has barely fought 1.5 times a year. Usyk fought once a year since 2020. AJ fought once a year since 2020.......just like half of the top 20 of the heavyweight division.....so let's quit the bullshit.......there is an activity issue across the whole division and even when fighters are active there is an issue in the level of opposition they face effectively negating the level of activity.

  • It kinda sounds like Angel Fernandez deliberately kept AJ away from Derrick James first time around. Spencer Fearon said that someone in AJ's team screwed up - they were told contact Charlo's trainer meaning Derrick James, and instead they contacted Ronnie Shields. If he's saying Fernadez was the one doing the shortlist, that sounds to me a lot like it was probably Fernandez, and I find to very hard to believe they screw up like that accidentally. Fernandez most likely pushed for Robert Garcia because Garcia was prepared to let Fernandez tag along. Very sloppy. But good to see AJ out there, focussed on one head coach.
