The WORLD's most famous horse race & what a story! NOBLE YEATS wins the 2022 Grand National at 50/1
Amateur rider Sam Waley-Cohen enjoyed a fairytale finale to his career as he guided Noble Yeats to a thrilling victory in the Randox Grand National at Aintree.
Waley-Cohen had announced on Thursday that it would be his final ride before retirement. Most expected the 39-year-old to be little more than a support player aboard a novice chaser owned by his father, Robert, but instead the pair took centre stage in the greatest race of them all.
Sent off at 50-1, Noble Yeats was going well from some way out but the game looked up for him when the well-backed Any Second Now hit the front at the final fence under Mark Walsh.
However, Waley-Cohen, who has also built up a chain of dental practices, extracted more from his mount and won going away by two and a quarter lengths.

What a race, what a battle, what a jockey. Purely stuck a few quid each way on Noble Yeats purely because it was Whaleys last ever race and has the best record over these fences. Incredible

More than one.
Yes I did hear it was going to be Sams last ride but all I thought was ...ahhh I hope he runs well. I was never going to back him and I did not hear any tips going his way. But I am happy for their win. Such an amazing story and what a fantastic steer from Sam from the back at the start of the race through the field. He popped the fences for fun. Best horse won on the day.

yeah sad that i think 4 horses actually died in the whole meeting.
So glad for Sam as he was a real Aintree jockey. He had real affinity with those green fences. Really gifted horseman
Good on the Cohen family they put out a lot into racing had there ups and downs what a journey deserved all there success
Stopped Betting on this race a few years ago But as I was betting Thursday Friday, got caught up in the momentum and I got the winner 50/1 got the tip from the betting site which predicted it would finish third
Can remember the first time I heard of the Waley-Cohen name was when a horse called The Dragon Master won a novice chase at 100/1 at Sandown. Fairly sure Robert was the owner/trainer back then. Also been racking my brains trying to think of who tipped this horse in the paper/on TV well before Christmas.
Liverpool does show its ❤️ they come together, right now

Terrific finish well done Emmett Mullins Noble Yeats Sam whaley Cohen super ride a top class athlete and to do it for his father great story

£5 E/W at 50/1. A few drinks for me this weekend. Nice one, Sam Waley-Cohen.

No one was going to beat noble Yeats yesterday even if Sam had to get down off him and carry him across the winning post but the determination from both horse and jockey won it the devil himself wouldn't have passed him.

The one thing that stands out is his ability as an amateur is superb. I know without the horse you cant do it But as as a chase jockey hes been fantastic. A proper horseman And also strong in a finish Job done Sam

Finally saw this! Congrats to Noble Yeates, and his connections. Wow! I am wondering if the course, as of right now, the same course that Battleship won over, many decades ago?
same course but the fences have been modified. Bechers Brook has had the biggest adjustments due to a high number of fatalities. the brook was filled in to prevent horses falling back into it and the drop isn’t as steep anymore. many jockeys believe this has had a negative effect as horses are now running faster increasing the risk of a serious injury, but they had to make the fences safer due to pressure from animal rights groups
@@olliebcafc Thank you! The course didn't look the same, since I last saw it, so I was just checking to be sure my mind was still working. Again, thank you.

Pity you support animal abuse.
@racinganalyst Actually I do knowabout horse racing. Supporters etc of it fail to see the abuse.
None of you seem to notice Cohen excessive use of the whip. Sometimes hitting the horse has two effects one is they will dig their heels in and NOT go faster, the other is they are frightened and want to get away from the pain. One of the better ways to get a response is to growl at them. Horses have very sensitive hearing.
Barbara Dyson ... Most of the "whipping you see is not that hard. It's mostly just tapping. How many horses in the winners enclosure have you seen with whip whirls? None I think...Pull your horns in lady.

The greatest horse race in the world, hands down.
14 horses either fell or unseated! most since 2014
I noticed that was the thinnest pack by the last fence ive ever seen!
Probably a reasonable outcome given there must have been 514 at the start. Otherwise some very unsafe conditions to be observed with both outside and inside rails collapsing or out of alignment. Poor entrants have enough to contend with without crap like that.
@@flamingfrancis There wasn’t 514 at all. Nowhere near. Horse racing is still evil and cruel though.

I backed the 2nd and 3rd,. But when my season started at chepstow Friday last October whilst looking at very first race I looked at for the day,a race in Ireland looking at the form,I thought that's good form, the horse won it 9/2, the only race it won, it was noble Yeats. @@danielledewitt1 true....but we humans condemn one thing, then glorify another . Everyone's having a good time, drinking, betting,.. On average about 300 race horses a year for or are put down...but there's too much money to be had...so we turn a blind eye. Killed just for our enjoyment, not for food, no necessity..just gambling ! Money root of all evil.
@@beverleymorris167 So you like seeing horses murdered? You sicko.
@@beverleymorris167 It is an issue that can be looked at from several angles. A popular answer is that the horses would not be there if thoroughbred racing didn'y exist. Also in long bygone times community horseracing formed the basis of many social activities including annual Cups. On another point here in Australia there are numerous organisations for the rehousing of retired horses...look up Living Legends. While you are there on YT look up the story of our great Subbie, SubZero winner of the 1993 Melbourne Cup. I will say no more but it is well worth a look.

It confuses me how people say that they love horses or that they care about horses but then they go out and do something like this. So many horses fall during jumps racing. If only the world could be a little smarter like Australia recently was and ban jumps racing or better yet, ban racing in general. They say they have strick rules but they don't most of these horses won't even live to be 15 because they'll be sent to a slaughter house. This "industry" is cruel and disgusting.
Agree horse racing is animal abuse.
Brilliant. I do miss the old commentators though, like peter o sullivan.
O'sullevan had too much affluence over the BBC. He should have been sent out to grass long ago.
These commentators are pretty Good, but there will never be any to match Peter o sullevan, Julian Wilson and John Hanmer tho
Altho a lot Safer than it used to be, the National is still the toughest Test out there by Far . All the Loose Horses at half way, and the fact only 15 finished from a Field of 40 proves this. And what a story again Last Ride for Jockey is a victorious one, First amateur Jockey to win for 32 years , and Noble Yeats the first 7 Year old to win for 82 Years. Last Year the First Female Jockey to win, and previous to that first back to back winner since 1974 .....Still Unique...
