Alexander Volkanovski is at a crossroad. 2 choices, 2 options.
Let's take a look at MMA history and learn what other UFC fighters have done in the past.
Retire a LEGEND or Fight Long Enough to RUIN your Legacy ?
I feel bad for Volk and Usman they were unstoppable and Great 😶🌫️
Eventually somone comes with your number.
Usman can still beat 90% of fighters, it’s not like he’s finished. Volk is sadly finished at the elite level, no one comes back from 2 straight KO’s
volk is washed.his best win is against max 2 times.lost the 2nd fight.usman looked great against khamzat.almost won the fight in short notice.
@@jonyhyder6506 I don’t think he’s gonna be champ again though
@@Habibivech usman?maybe. He did beat leon in 1st fight.was dominating leon until the ko in 4th round.3rd fight was very close.some say its was a draw.thing is leon aint that great either.he is beatable.
MMA is a cruel sport the fall from the top is always brutal
Yes bro which just makes the fighter pay situation fued up,Dana doesn't care about these warriors😢
And it can happen insanely fast. For some all it takes is one loss and they never are the same. That’s the double edge sword of an undefeated record. Once the loss comes because it does for most, how the fighter handles losing the 0 will define the rest of their career in a lot of cases.
This man said “Dana Pink” I’m done 😂😂😂😂
I had to double back on that one😂
Facts lol
I think its a Reservoir Dogs reference about Dana having the character of Mr Pink instead of Mr Whites.
@@juangringo3906 there's no reference, dude looks like a medium rare steak. 😂
@@juangringo3906no bro, it’s because he looks like he’s got pink skin in some videos
The UFC needs to hire him as part of the media team to make weekly MMA content that goes through the history, current and future fights. Make it part of your subscription
Yes. 100 percent.
I do not care, Volk is different. He can get that belt back
Exactly. The UFC needs Lucas Tracy, and MMA Guru and this channel. They need to start promoting fighters, not relying on "luck" for fan interest. Milan has the best video productions of anyone, and he should work for the UFC.
Legend's live forever...just spitting FACT'S
But does their money?
not worth the cte and little money
This is a brutal sport man. Unlike other sports, a fall in combat sports is absolutely brutal. The highs and the lows lows. Wish you the best volk. You’re my favorite fighter of all time
The brain hits a tipping point where it just can’t handle the hits anymore. In UFC this becomes apparent with the first horrible loss the champions have
@@harorider96 I agree. Heartbreaking man. Not for the weak.
"Live for nothing or die for something"-John Rambo.
Very apt. People who covet but never tried, never made it, whatever, but circle a sport, find that they know better than the guys who did make it. GSP was on point: I have other things I want to do. Some guys don't. This is their thing. This is their life. This is where they get their purpose and validation, their self worth. To say you MUST retire because of X risks and something about legacy - the record of their prime still exists, no matter how it finished. The only drawback is if they are on the decline, never to get the old magic back, but they think they can. That is the only real danger zone. But to make a choice based on the love of what you do, maybe even the need for money, and finding they'd rather live now and bugger tomorrow... that's their choice. They are the ones there who know. They know what is in their hearts. Tony... it's like they want him to go away because he's become inconvenient. It's cloaked in all of this concern... well, he appears to have lost everything but being in the UFC. Piling on and saying it's too awful and embarrassing... if he can wear the losses, why can't the viewers? That mental illness is constantly conflated with CTE in Tony's case, tells me no one is really paying attention, despite all the concern, all of that care they have for him. So... farting about in the suburbs or staying in a game they love - again, if it comes with some nice rational reality that they are past their prime, it is different, it will be different - is dying for something. This is what passion can look like. Hanging on for longevity without the highs of performance, some people would rather not.
Knowing when to stop is a discipline most people don't have
Makes it only make perfect sense why Khabib is one of the very few in all of combat spots to do so. Similar to Floyd. If you are well informed on their lives, you'd know how disciplined they are.
@@6tiple6ix6afia Sadly because when khabib's father passed away, he retired a bit early, he made a legacy but one that falls short when compared to the goat's of the sport. GSP would be the best example of when to retire, made a legacy, title defenses, came abck and won a second belt and retired at the top
This reminds me of Hughes and Liddell - living legends that were showing cracks in their armour but were fighting top levels guys. Then the losses continued and it clear that they were not the same. Hopefully Volk will comeback strong with a long enough break.
I would add Chuck 'The Iceman' to the list as well. He made me a fan of the sport but his fall was heartbreaking.
I swear to God, no one makes videos like you ❤❤your videos are next level Awesome
I think ilia's approach is wise, you can also acheive greatness and retire on a somewhat young age for mma, look at gsp, he had 9 title defenses by the age of 31 years old, but not everyone is gsp, i think looking at all these legends at a very old age suffering grusome losses changed this new generation's mentality, guys like chuck, tony, bj penn, frankie, everyone knows now that staying too long might ruin your brain and your legacy as well
Personally I think Ilia is going to realize at 31 that he's still got it and will continue.
@@madgavin7568ilia honestly should dominate the featherweight division for the next couple years,if he did that east work of volk i do not see him loosing to anyone that volk faced.
@@cjvastro. It wasn't easy for Topuria actually. He could lose the rematch to Volk.
gsp overrated.got title fight in his 2nd fight and then lost.got another title shot in his 4th fight and won.fought against part time plumbers who never took fighting seriously.yeah not everyone is GSP.
@@jonyhyder6506 🤡
I think if volk wants to turn the corner he is going to need to take a page from gsps book. Switch his game up, he has some of the best gnp in the division, some of the best timing and vision. If he starts training himself as a grappler like gsp I think he would be able to get back to being dominant. That's what made gsp the goat, he evolved, changed his game when people started to catch up. It is inevitable that people catch up (what we see with illia now and the opposite with izzy) gsp was able to totally transform his game to keep himself dominant realizing his ego couldn't get the best of him and he needed to learn. Volk has the best blueprint to do that, start nailing takedowns and stop trying to outstrike these guys, their game has caught up to you, they get to watch years upon years of your footage.
Sadly, too late
GSP lost to hendricks.hendricks beat the breaks of GSP and GSP ran away from ww.never returned in ww.wrong take.
found ur channel a few days ago, been listening too ur vids at work. see u going far, keep it up bro. 🙏🏻❤️
This is what makes Greatness: the risk involved if you lose. While it may have just dawned on us that Volk can lose it all or leave as a legend for this fight, the simple matter of the fact is that every fight has these implications. We the fans praise the winners who took the risk and shun the losers who took that same risk. This is a cruel, cruel sport.
Fantastic work!
I'm gonna say it: GSP, with colitis, taking down (look at how Bisping, a well rounded fighter, was capable of handling himself with grappling in close losses to wrestlers like Chael, Rashad and Hendo) and repeatedly outstriking the bigger Bisping (who had then beaten - repeatedly wobbling and dropping - Silva and KO'd prime Rockhold), at will, is far more impressive than Jones subbing Gane (who has 0 wrestling defence and was outwrestled by a learner wrestler like Ngannou) who has only beaten fat journeymen like Tuivasa and Lewis.
GSP lost to hendricks.hendricks beat the breaks of GSP and GSP ran away from ww.never returned in ww.
@@jonyhyder6506you could say the same for jones who should've lost to reyes
Alexander "The Great" reigned 13yrs also before his demise in his 30s. Js
Amazing story telling W vid
People never talk about Cejudo’s return enough. The man pretty much retired as one of the greatest minds in all of combat sports, and all that is slowly being erased.
Greatest mind? Come on bro.
@@snarfjohnson2262 the man quite literally drilled with Jon Jones the same maneuver he used to take down Gane for the finish. Trained with DJ before the Moraes rematch. Knew how adjust on the fly against Marlon. Let’s not act like he wasn’t one of the greats.
Amazing video
This is the best channel out there
This one was a hard one to watch 💔
looking at the mirror and seeing that you are not who you used to be is.. painful.
Best ufc channel out rn
A very real and sad truth behind the fighting world. A fighter may fade but legends never die
your best video to date, impressive
Thanks for this masterpiece
sometimes losses help u grow as a fighter and become better but they can also ruin ur confidence in ur fighting ability
Regardless which one a fighter choses there are going to be fans that don't like the choice, they just have to do what's best for them and say forget the majority. Real loyal fans are going to love BJ no matter what, going to love Khabib no matter what, when some will say one stayed too long and one left too early.
Another TFB banger‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Even if Volk came back for one a rematch against Topuria, lost, and decided to retire I think his legacy his still pretty much intact. It’s if he goes on the BJ Penn or Anderson Silva multi-year skid…
Alex will forever be great and hard to forget. One of UFC historical legendary champ, no one can deny he fought everyone and even moved up a few weight classes and challenged the champ.
Video on francis vs AJ ,jhousa ❤ to know your prediction and analysis..
Nice work as always.
4 fights in exactly 12 months, doesn't give yourself the best chance to win, but the new contract he got when he agreed to Islam 2, was generational wealth..I wouldn't be surprised if Volk does what he says, and I wouldn't be surprised if he losses to Topuria again..But, it makes absolutely no difference whether champs go out on top, or go out on a losing streak..No one will know they lived in 75 years..There is no legacy, it only lasts a few decades..Generational wealth, lasts for generations..Fighters should never consider how fan boys want to remember them..
It was H-e-a-v-y ma..n. Great video.
Retire a GSP or fight long enough to become a Tony Ferguson 😢
Man that parking lot KO is something else i cant believe it
2:36 Dana Pink LMAO
Aldo really said both 💀
nice job my friend; real boints and hard facts.i just want tony to stop hurt his body anymore and retire soon
You guys are really not giving ilia his flowers for how good he is he got caught it happens he looked sharp and in shape ilia himself said he was surprised actually people like myself know volk was going to lose not because what yall are saying ilia is the future technical masterpiece and he’s only going to get better
Ah the case of Manny Pacquiao. Dude boxed so long and even managed to nab a belt at his last few fights at age TooOld for boxing shocked everyone. You can definitely aim for till you cant do it professionally anymore or just drop it while people still love you but cant deny the appeal of the people still loving you even if you are showing signs of aging or slowing down and you are still shooting lightning bolts on your hands or whatever sport you have and still compete with the best but thats like a rare case. None of us can beat getting old since your recovery goes nuts at age 30+ and you start to get injured often so no spring chicken anymore so in a reality kind of thing your body just cant keep up with your passion on a legendary state coz we are getting stronger as eras pass like the next era will be faster and stronger just from standard of living alone.
AV would probably still be champ if 1) he wasn't foolish enough to try to move up a weight class (he is too short), and 2) if he wasn't knocked out so viciously, and 3) knocked out so recently, and 4) knocked out at his age.... because 5) the best indicator of another traumatic brain injury is that you have already had a traumatic brain injury If AV desperately needed to compete for his mental health, do it in some different sport, or create your own sport. This is what Lance Armstrong should have done.
Hopefully Volk sees this
Make a video on Benoit Saint Denis
its like the NEXPO for MMA
Didnt have to do Big man BJ Penn like that. 😂😂
this volk situation is the exact reason i try not to be fans of any of these guys. seeing your fav fighter lose is deadass heart wrenching. My 9ers lost the super within this same week and the Volk loss still hurts more tbh
Legacy don't Pay bills. Get as much money as you can while taking as little damage as possible. Plus most people won't see Volk, Tony, or any other elite fighter as anything less than that, L's are part of the sport for almost all. ,
nice
Thank you for saying it. Sad to see Volk can't see it.
Who is the voice in the intro clip
Sad reality for a lot of champions but I feel the worst when it comes to Tony Ferguson. He's so passionate about fighting and just doesn't seem to be able to accept it's time to hang up the gloves. it's time, Tony. You've proved yourself and did a great job.
Makes me depressed! Volk is in my favorite 5 current ufc fighters
In MMA, there are no happy endings 😔
EVERYBODY SHUT IT UP! THE FIGHTING BUSINESS JUST POSTED!
When i Heard that volkanovski Is done i almost started crying not gonno lie
Volk said that He need break so if he fights it's going to be in the end of a years
Volk vs Yair right now
People love to ignore how GSP retired in time to not be subjected to USADA, then he suddenly came back, MASSIVELY bigger than before after not being in the USADA testing pool for years. He wins only a single come back fight, and then retires again. Pretty obvious why
Very few are able to stay away and keep their legacy intact. Off the top of my head GSP and Khabib. I mean who else retired a legend? Legacy intact?
Volk def turned around to quickly. I appreciate his warrior spirit but he lacked wisdom on this decision. And he will likely not take enough time off, again. I just hope Topuria defends before the end of 2024. Against whomever he wants. @The Fighting Business - Thanks for you work on these videos. I know it takes a lot of time and labor, especially to produce some of your longer videos. As a video journalist for the US Army, I'm curious. What editing program do you use?
Randy was the first UFC multi weight champ
Only one exception... Jonny bones jones
Jones wasn't looking Dominant anymore.. until the Gane fight. People truly have forgotten that. And Gane mentally lost that fight before it even started.
All the cliches and phrases apply here. It can happen to anyone. He was winning the first round. Father Time is undefeated. He’s human. Everyone has a peak and a decline. Say whatever you want, but Volk is for sure one of the greats, and deserves a rematch.
🗣️💨
Its kind of a silly question because you'll never know what fight will be the ticking point where you can say its a "crossroads moment" in hindsight. A legend like volk, he could think that he'd want to beat ilia and retire as a legend, with perhaps the pursuit of islam again being what would ruin his legacy. Thats the brutality of the sport, people fall in an instant and there's no way to see it coming
Ali, frazier, tyson, holyfield, liddell, jackson, silva. Name a combat sport legend, they all fall victim to father time.
George Foreman may have been one of the few that father time didnt hit hard. World champion in two different era's, only lost 5 or 6 times to the best. Is still healthy, literate and financially stable going into his 70's
I think Ronda or DC did it best. Be super dominant for years then after one or two losses call it, otherwise you'll get too comfortable with losing
Volk said he’s gonna take a decent amount of time off in a more recent video
Tbh I don’t disagree with anything you said. I love Volk but he’s been in a funk
time waits for no one
If he takes a year or more off, it's over with for em. Better to retire if he's going to take that much time off.
Are you doing a video on joshua vs Ngannou next Friday
I think retiring early is defo the best option. Look at Khabib. 3 title defences and people call him the GOAT. Imagine if Silva retired early and didn't keep fighting. I personally don't count the losses out of your prime but everyone else does.
Max is next
You forgot Henry Cejudo?
That’s why jones is trying to duck Aspinall
Dana pink 😂😂😂
Can you ruin a legacy worse than boxing Jake Paul? I don’t think there is a lower low.
Ferguson is completely delusional. Gaethje and Chandler fights were hard to watch. He will most likely have to be saved from himself. I don’t see the guy retiring of his own will. It’ll take a brutal injury or fight and I just don’t want to see that happen. I’ve never been a huge fan but I remember Tony from Tuf and it would be sad to see him end him career that way. Hopefully he retires after his next Win but I would be surprised. If he’s able to get another one that is.
Bj penn getting ko’d in a parking lot was so funny to watch 😂😂
volk should let the featherweight division play out... com back in a year
still picking ovi over roblox head
Its not falling off or losing it. Every fight takes a toll on your body. While newer guys haven't taken as much damage. No lion stays king forever. You get older and slower and there will always be a new younger challenger. Becoming a legend means you remain a legend. Getting there is what seperates the classes of fighters
Gsp is a legend because of his long title reign.. and he lost multiple times in his career as well... Thats very different to someone who only fights a handful of top lvl fights in their prime and retires young to protect their record just so naive fans think they'd never age and win all other hypothetical match ups.. The thing is, it never ages well over time.. recency bias will have some short term effect but the longer time goes on the numbers become more and more relevant and having 0 or a couple of losses but only fighting 30% the ranked opposition to ur peers wont make the cut.. Its differnet if you came in young and active and entered the top echelon 10+ fights ago, but if ur 30 just fighting ur first top 5 lvl opponent and looking to retire and call urself a goat.. ur a fraud
Gsp lost only 2 times and avenged both losses.
Why you have to make these kind of videos every time 😔🚬
ILIA WILL KO HIM AGAIN IN REMATCH!!! AND ITS WILL BE CRITICAL FOR HIM!!
If Volk loses this one I think he should retire tbh
I have a theory. You do it as long as you love doing it. Everything else, wins, championships etc. are irrelevant.
Y’all really think volk done because he lost one fight a fw
Lol
Stop making this a narrative so we get something better than option A. or B.
It doesn’t ruin your legacy to get old, el cucuy Tony in his prime is still one of the scariest 155ers ever. More of the concern as these fighters are getting old is not taking unnecessary damage.
Volks got a lot of fight left in him and these nerds are counting him out because they never even tried when they themselves had an opportunity. People like to see successful people fail.
Dude wins most of his fights and gets dealt two hard losses and now we immediately go towards “he should retire”. This isn’t boxing. Save your perfect record bullshit for someone who gives af
I dont think loses can destroy ones legacies, despeit of everything is Anderson silva stilll not goat of middleweight is bj Penn not goat of lightweight and a person who revived a division is Jorge masvidal not the person who holds records of fastest ko in ufc history inaugural bmp champion loses can't take legacies away
Unless content creators r offering positions within the UFC ORGANIZATION like griffin, lidell, & many others before volk.. leave him be. His body his self sacrifice & if we cared about these fighters we wouldnt ask them to get roughed up TWICE ON WAY DOWN FROM CONSECUTIVE LOSSES, TO QUIT. IT WOULD BE THE DARKEST PLACE FOR THE FIGHTERS WE LOVE. THATS NOT LOVE THATS NOT FIGHTERS FANS. THATS "I CARE ABOUT U SO LET ME MAKECTHIS ABOUT ME DISGUISED AS THIS FOR U. GIVE EM ALL INCLUSIVE POSITION IN UFC OR 🤫
Commenting on every The Fighting Business video until he stops saying that corny ass "I gotta bounce" at the end of every video
I like it, So I hope he keeps saying it.
Don’t forget the corny smoke inhale sound at the start
