In response to the thousands of fans vehemently jumping to conclusions based purely off of what they saw in a 90-second trailer, I figured I'd make a video with proper evidence to debunk some crazy claims that have been made, and answer some popular questions while I'm at it.

EDIT: People need to actually watch the video before commenting lmao. Gotten way too many comments saying I'm whining or complaining or whatever, when that's not actually the case. If you watch even a couple minutes of the video, you can pick up on the fact that I'm really not upset about this - just trying to clarify things for people who are. A couple other points that I neglected to mention in the final video: - Period-correctness; since GTA 6 will be set in the modern day like GTA 5 / GTA Online is, it seems logical to recycle some cars between the two games. Traffic that's seen in GTA 5 / San Andreas isn't unique to that state, so it's reasonable to see some of those traffic cars in GTA 6 / Leonida as well. - Recycling is a very common practice; if you know anything about racing games, you'd know that many franchises recycle vehicle models that are many years (in some cases decades) old. Not saying that this is an excuse for Rockstar, but given that they're modeling these cars completely from scratch (rather than relying on already-detailed 3D scans of real cars), it makes sense that they might reuse a few models from GTA 5 so all that work doesn't go to waste. - Recycling, but the other way around; most people believe it's GTA 5's cars being recycled in GTA 6, when in fact, it's probably the other way around. We already have evidence of assets from GTA 6 (accessories, clothing, liveries) being added as content in GTA Online instead, so it's logical to think Rockstar would do the same with some cars too. In order to tide the playerbase over for a couple more years until GTA 6's release, Rockstar may be pulling cars from that game to re-purpose as GTA Online content.

@@HeySlickThatsMe there was a button down shirt with Vice City-style graphics on it, along with a different taxi model (that looks similar to the updated Stanier from the GTA 6 trailer) added to GTA Online. There's also a livery for one of the Arena War vehicles that has 'VCPD' insignia on it. That, and Rockstar's sort of odd selection of recent DLC vehicles, also makes me think that they're recycled NPC cars from GTA 6.
Ngl I understand 2019 and up gta online DLC vehicles being in gta 6 but anything else doesn’t make sense because the OG gta 5 cars and the ones they’ve been adding to gta online up until 2019 doesn’t look as good and barely looks like what they’re based on

People tend to forget that over 300 cars have been added to GTA online over the years, most of them during the development of GTA 6. If anything, it's possible that some of the recycled cars were designed for GTA 6 instead of GTA online.
Exactly right! I neglected to expand a bit more on the idea of Rockstar double-dipping in this way, but you're 1000% correct - we've already seen some assets (accessories, liveries, clothing) clearly meant for GTA 6 be released as content in GTA 5 instead, so it's logical that this is the case with some cars too.

GTA online is the main reason the game didn’t come sooner people kept dumping money into GTA online so Rockstar kept providing content even a lot of the online DLCs were clearly originally made for GTA 5 story mode but got forced into GTA online

That’s actually exactly what happened. I remember during the time before the tuner update came out they were saying they were testing new cars and physics for GTA 6 but were adding the vehicles to GTA Online. People need to realize that the cars in GTA Online have been added over a 10 year period so most new and current vehicles in real life are already made in GTA Online. Also GTA V still has certain vehicles from GTA IV and even a small amount from San Andreas as well. Also just like in real life not everyone is going to be driving new vehicles so even retro vehicles have already been made and some will be added to GTA 6, but I’m sure they’ll be adding more cars for every category of vehicles.
In real life old cars don't just disappear when new models are made so it makes sense to see cars from previous episodes along with new ones.

@@bluerie Some of them are from GTA Online which take place after GTA 5. Also even if manufacturers update the new models, there are still a lot of cars that belong to people who bought previous models (not everyone changes cars whenever a new model appears).

It's the same universe, same brands, same cars. There is no reason there shouldn't be any old cars. It's not like Mustangs only drive about Los Angeles...

I still remember how the players wanted some GTA IV cars back when GTA V was dropped And i was of them, vehicle entusiasts always welcomes old glorys upgraded (like the Cheetah Classic) mixed with new cars, perfect combination and haters still gonna hate...
There’s a very simple answer to this; it wouldn’t make sense if they didn’t. Cars in the real world barely change from year to year, and if GTA VI, and GTA Online are both supposed to take place in the present day, then of course they’re gunna be the same cars.

In addition, some of the car models are adjusted to fit the modern models. So recycling tbh isn’t bad to me, they’ve always done this. And I don’t mind, since they clearly added new cars in GtA6

@@danill4381well it’s only a 5 year gap from IV to V. It made sense that people were still using cars from 2008. Even a 12 year gap, people would still use cars from the 2010s in 2025.

I don't care about the reused/recycled cars. I just want to see more customization for all cars. In GTA V, I feel like the Cheval Fugitive could've had the potential to be great if it had customization options

Honestly, new cars in GTA Online are super customizable. The only ones that aren't anymore are mostly just "normal" cars from the base game

In GTA V the fastest cars were capped at 130-135mph because of the “small” map size and to keep a stable frame rate. Cars are going to be faster in GTA 6, they might not be real life speeds but the fastest cars might get to 180-185mph

You could be right, but if GTA6 is equally demanding on the console as gta V the speed would stay the same. Digital foundry already predicts 30fps and 1440p so that means its gonna be pretty demanding.

@@jlall4467 I'm actually not that bothered about the speed. I disagree because the world has a lot of entities.. I'm thinking because of it all those limitations will be there speed, resolution, fps. But we shall see. I am disappointed about the cars though. Seems like gta 4 cars were redesigned for gta 5 but not for 6?

6:06 is why I'm hoping for at least some recycled vehicles, familiarity. 3 cars I liked driving in GTA 3, San Andreas and Vice City were the Patriot, limo and Romero Hearse. I didn't have a PS3 when it first came out and didn't get to play GTA 4 until after I started playing GTA 5 on the PS4, so I was happy that at least there was a limo, Patriot and Romero Hearse in story mode in GTA 5.
Also we gotta be realistic, a lot of the cars are based off real life cars so with that being said there's not much you can put out since there hasn't been anything new coming out irl other then put cars from the past into the game

I'm glad they're doing this, its consistent and realistic to see previous decades cars in a 2025 setting. I'm just praying they give is the Jeep with square headlights from SA!
Pretty sure many of the new cars in GTA Online were backported from GTA VI, with many of the new features removed. There are some files in the game that reference a suspension system and some other stuff that's simply missing in V's engine.

Just a sidenote did anybody notice how cool the police cars look. Like there’s literally a sheriff CVPI. I absolutely love crown Victoria’s and seeing one and a Gta that finally doesn’t look like garbage is amazing
I'm really excited for GTA 6. I understand why people are upset about the returning vehicles. Every shot and frame was perfectly selected by Rockstar to showcase the level of detail in this game. And the fact that they chose to show majority of returning cars, is slightly concerning. I understand that there will be more cars, many of which we've never seen before. However, I am confident that there will be an excellent variety of vehicles. My main concern is the level of customization. I just hope they bring back midnight clubs customization

GTA online had like over 200 different cars at some point so trying come up with something completely new would be extremely difficult. Plus, in the real world, it’s not like only chargers drive in LA or theres only lambos in New York. I saw a few actually new cars in the trailer and the leaks had a new vehicle as well (even though it’s just a redesigned/updated picador). Sometimes I feel like children are lobbing these complaints. Not saying you’re a child, and I mean no disrespect, but it’s just annoying some of the shit the community comes up with.
@@HomeboyMcGoo My point attest to this issue. However, I do believe that they can easily come up with another 200 cards. Rockstar is known for jumping on the latest vehicular trends. I was extremely disappointed to not see some version of the Tesla Cyber truck or the Rivian added into GTA online. Maybe they could add it in GTA 6, but there's still a lot of room to grow.
I'm sure we'll get new cars in GTA 6 but they're not gonna show off everything in a teaser. They want a few surprises for later. Also GTA has that roster of "Legacy" cars that appear in almost every GTA since they're just so iconic. Lastly speaking of iconic, players will want cars that are famous in real life. Whether it's their own personal car but in game version or a fantasy car of theirs, GTA is gonna add the most in demand vehicles, some if which already in GTA. My guess is older variants of non-iconic cars will be phased out to make room for newer models. (I.e. we might not see a 2012 model, which was GTA 5's launch, and instead see the 2023 version instead)
Honestly, i want to see the 2012 models as well as vehicles from the 1900's to 2010's in the game along with 2020's vehicles too, also vehicles that were concepts, one offs, prototypes, special built, hot rodded, custom built, rat rodded, race built, drag built, couch built and so on and so forth, diversify the range and not just the same model from same year, modern only models or such, make it more lively and like in real life, so yeah

I think it’s worth noting that in the leaks, there were new cars that we haven’t seen before in GTA V and its online counterpart, such as a 10th gen Accord-looking sedan, Chevy Sonic-esque hatchback, older-style SUV’s and more. Like he said, they’re likely still polishing up the details and physics on those cars so they didn’t showcase them as much in the trailer. Plus, we’re bound to receive additional trailers on the game so there’s more chances that any new cars that weren’t shown before will likely show up by then.
Its normal for Rockstar to recycle cars for their games, especially for trailers. In the GTA 5 trailer there were a lot of GTA 4 assets and vehicles in that video, for VI it should be no shock, might I add that some of these recycled cars are iconic on their own right such as the Cheetah and the Banshee, so it would not make sense for them to completely scrap these old cars.
The HD GTAs (IV, V, and VI) are in the same universe ofc so it makes sense for them to have shared cars. GTAV had quite a few cars recycled from GTA IV, and since GTAV has been constantly updated with more modern vehicles, it simply makes a whole lot more sense for a lot more cars from GTAV to be implemented into GTA VI.
I dont know why people complain about this, honestly I see this as a massive W. We get the cars we love back into the new game, in a fresher, new updated look too, plus possibly even get its all old customization with new parts too. Plus all these cars we're possibly all for GTA VI in the first place, and keeping things in time with the universe/lore of the game. Honestly I am excited to see new cars aswell as to see familiar cars I worked hard for on Online to be sometime I see just on the streets.
It's called CONTINUITY. I like that the cars are coming back in GTA VI, unlike the transition from GTA IV to V where 60% of the cars from GTA IV were deleted from existence basically.

They’ve spent 10 years creating these “new” cars for GTA online since launch, its not like they’ll just copy paste the cars, as far as i see they are reworking them so they won’t be the same, recycling cars is nothing new in the GTA series, it’s just that this time we been 10 years without a GTA, at this point they almost remade every popular irl car in online so what else could we want? I do believe that a lot of background cars are stand ins but the ones with a lot of focus are not. One thing with cars is that a lot of the popular cars in real life that people want in the game are in there and their models are not just going to change in real life (a 1970 Challenger will always be a 1970 Challenger). Cars that do not look similar to their real life counterparts like the Banshee, Turismo, Cheetah (modern) should get a redesign. Other than that they need to wait for manufacturers to drop new cars in real life.
Considering I only play singleplayer, all of these cars are gonna be new to me either way. Hell I didn’t even know the cars in the trailer were from online. I just thought they were new. I’m glad I’ll be able to enjoy these cars without having to grind for hours and then just be blown up after leaving my garage. Finally having these in a singleplayer environment is a win in my book.
10 years ago GTA fans would kill for content that was in past games to make an appearance in the next. The fact that people are upset the cars are being recycled is ridiculous, like some cars haven’t really visually changed since gta3 besides the obvious graphic improvements.
Right? Currently my hope is that for GTA 7 they find a way to put all three maps from 4 - 6, and then some, into a mega full USA map. They could bring all the cars back. That would be the ultimate free roam experience.

Usually what happens is that they keep some models if cars and add new ones. I'd be completely fine if they use most of the ones from gta 5. Since alot were added with gta online I assume it would be hard to make even more. Probably they thought that most of the new cars would carry over to gta 6.
Im sure some of these cars maybe the new dubsta in gta 6 trailer will be added to gta online for the new gta online dlc or maybe they will add the new audi rs5/6(obey), they will definitely add one car from the gta 6 trailer to gta online

From what I've heard some of the recycled cars from gtao that were new could be from gta 6 and some of recycled cars could be placeholders since the game is still in development
Just to add: most of the DLC cars were supposed to have been for GTA 6 anyway, but because of the delays of GTA 6, we got them in GTA 5 online, including the island itself.
GTA 5 had cards ported from 4 like the Comet, Sultan, Shafter, Infernus, Feltzer, and the iconic Banshee, but the cars got more details, like the Comet looking like a 996 GT2 rather than a regular Carrera, and the Feltzer going from a regular Benz to something that looks straight out of DTM
they’re not just recycled. they’re going to be completely remodelled. with the same design but changes to accommodate things like a more realistic interior, more realistic lighting effects, newer badging and subtle visual differences on the cars. and honestly i’m all for it. the more recent cars from GTA 5 weren’t bad at all. and to get them in GTA 6 with updated interiors and such with hopefully updated customisation is a massive W in my books. i see no issue with it. in fact id prefer it that way in addition to new cars that we know will also be in the game
This is kind of tricky. I think because of the cars being constantly put in gtao they have to put some in the game. But i think some are place holders, some are going to be cars that where only in online but not in story mode. Im positive there will be new cars, and new models of old cars for instance we need a 2024 upgrade for the parody g-wagon, lamborghini urus, and we dont have the obvious tesla cars, and a lot other cars. Cruiser motorcycles as well with the big face shields and storage compartments on both sides.
I just hope we get most of the cars from gta 5 over into gta 6 bc I just really wanna drive them again with the better and more indepth customization and new map ofc. I just hope we get like 50 50 of recycled cars and new cars we have never seen. Maybe like 300 ish cars from the beginning and then moving on with getting recycled polished cars from other gta games as well as completely new cars we want like Forza does with a suggestion hub thing. Maybe a livery editor as well as a stance editor would be cool and just having good customization with wheels rims and stance would be soooo cool

People forget that an enormous amount of cars were reused from gta 4 to gta 5. It was actually fun looking for the Sultan in GTA 5 because of its legendary status in GTA 4
I definitely wouldn't be happy to see the older lower detail cars from story mode added like the carbonizzare but the newer cars from online have beautiful models and a ton of customization so I see no downside in having those in the game. Especially because some players said they wanted online vehicles in gta v story mode so I guess this is a way of having online vehicles in a gta story setting.

Personally, I don't see why they should have to completely redesign every car from the ground up, they have plenty of great cars in GTA V. All they'd really need to do is bump up the polygon count and improve the interiors, and then they're good to go. Recycling cars is fine, as long as there are improvements made.

Maybe in gta 6 they will hopefully fix the worst gta 5 issue I keep having repeatedly.... cannot connect to online because we can't get cloud save data. How many billions have they made and still can't even play online because rockstar can't get their shit together.

It does seem that this game is more of a "step to the side" as opposed to a "step forward".. BUT to be fair to R* theyve used the same car names since the beginning and have just updated them and added more. Even GTA3 had the Vigero for example..
For me the problem is that they keep a car like the Carbonizzare which looks like a real GTA car, just like cars from IV or earlier. However lately they have been making more realistic cars that look just like their counterparts which just makes it weird that they would keep these older cars that don't look similar to real cars in the game.
it’s not like they aren’t going to update the car models. they may already be established in universe but they’re going to be updated in terms of fidelity and also in terms of the model year considering gta v came out in 2013 and most the online cars are a few years old now anyways
If every old vehicle +15 new models made it into the game that'd be badass. Next time you go for a drive look at how often you see the same 10 cars over and over
It's a Lore reason. This game is in the same universe as GTA V and IV, thus, the same companies exist, thus, the same cars exist. It's so simples it's stupid, the same thing happened from IV to V. Doesn't mean there won't be new cars, evidently there will be, but having some recycled cars helps ground it in the same universe as the other games from the HD universe. It would make no sense to make completely versions of these cars.
I truly do believe that GTA 6 will include dlc cars according to the cars out within the time period whether it is concept, cars like the Buffalo EVX is a Charger Daytona EV concept!
I don’t mind recycled cars, because it matter in the handling of vehicles mostly. Plus can’t wait what they do with the car customization
They can apparently get tons of upgrades though, I'm happy with that
They don’t even know what they are talking about until the game actually releases. They did the same thing with GTAIV to GTAV so it’s nothing new or catastrophic. The game physics will be different as well so it will still be a new experience. People will find anything & everything to complain about

I’m hoping for some of the cars we don’t see on the st now but we can buy end up being npc cars like the vigero so hopefully it’s a mix of cars like that

I think they just wanted the focus of trailer 1 to be more so the things you could do and the scenery..not the cars
Do some people really have an issue with this? I haven’t seen that. It’s the same universe that’s stretched from GTA 4 so of course some of the same cars will be there. There would be a lot more complaints if those cars weren’t there.

Outside of licensing issues and payment that rockstar won’t want to make, it’s because we will port our gta online garage over to gta6. So of course they have to be the same cars up to the release of gta 6

Considering every time rockstar makes a new gta it always has recycled cars from the last game its been like that forever so ppl are upset for nothing
Tbh they did this with a few cars when going from GTA 4 to GTA 5, and I'm pretty sure they did it with 3D era games as well. Besides, it's not uncommon for games to do this. For instance, Watch Dogs 2 had A LOT of the cars from Watch Dogs 1. That being said, they did handle differently and the interior was more detailed if I'm right? Besides that, it wouldn't make sense not to recycle cars, if anything, then just because GTA 6 and GTA 5 are both in the same universe AND in the same country. West coast, east coast.. You can imagine that most of the cars you would see in Cali, you'd see in Miami too. As much as people would call it lazy thing for Rockstar to do, I personally think it's good. It's more immersive that way, and just makes sense. It's like Sprunk, eCola, Lifeinvader etc. suddenly changed their name. By seeing familiar thing at a different place, it makes the thing more believable.
I wouldn’t say “recycled” cars but cars that I and many others like and would love to see return in gta6. Ofc they gon add new ones but we always need our og cars and stuff that gon bring sum nostalgia. I mean we’ve been riding in these cars for literally 10 years so don’t say you won’t be hyped when you see these cars new and improved with possible new upgrades and etc. especially if you have a fav that’s returning

I think it makes sense from a lore perspective. Why wouldn't we see older cars from the past hd titles reappear? In real life you see 90s and 2000s cars fairly often. Why wouldn't it make sense to see them in gta 6? So long as the models are updated from their gta 5 counter parts I think its fine.
I'm just disappointed there weren't any sentinel's in the trailer. I also wish they would recycle the gta IV sentinel.

I saw this too and I think it’s just because it’s in development and not actually them recycling cars. Maybe they just didn’t make new ones for the trailer.
Either way, why not add recycled vehicles, they did that before for GTA5 along with new ones bar some from GTA4 that did not make it in, also there's nothing wrong with recycling vehicles because some are iconic and staple to the franchise as well as we literally see similar in real life so theres that
@@bradwhite5884 the thing is there’s always been recycled vehicles. It’s apart of the series. There are cars in GTA five that were in gta 1, 2 and 3. But in the 6 trailer, it seems like it’s somewhat in a beta like state with MOST of the vehicles being recycled.
I wouldn’t care if they could bring all of the 400+ dlc cars along with the old cars already in the gta universe. To have 600+ DIFFERENT car models to ride around in offline or in solo mode would be amazing in itself. Let alone the cars they plan to add with dlcs. That would be insane. Not counting the NEW cars being included from release. I’m excited. I want to jump in fresh. I haven’t watched any leaks or anything. Just observations from the trailer
The only people who are outraged by this are people who never played a GTA game besides GTA: Online, which seems to be the majority of this fanbase now. GTA games have been recycling cars since they went 3D with GTA 3. GTA 5 recycled at least a third of it's cars from GTA 4 on release (not to mention all the car horns also being the same from GTA 4) yet everyone seems to conveniently brush that aside. Many people say the gaming industry is in a dire state, and while that is true, it's no surprise when you realise just how much dumber audiences have got in recent years.
I might be a minority, but I would be even more excited for GTA 6 if I knew that every single vehicle or even just most, minus the over the top scifi things and weaponized ones, were utilized in the base game. There have been tons of vehicles added to GTA V through the online mode over the years, and it would be a shame to see a lot of them disappear and eventually show up 7 years down the road in an online update again, because it's likely that Rockstar won't add them to singleplayer just like with V.

Well, now it makes sense why they removed so many cars from the websites with the bs excuse they're not being used.
Yes and no. Many of the removed cars weren't recent DLC vehicles that we saw in the GTA 6 trailer. Not justifying Rockstar's actions though, creating any sort of artificial scarcity is a scummy thing to do.
For those people's information, the cars span the universe game to game just like real life, manufactures exist in the world as they did in past games, plus the cars are remodeled, redone handling, to be new but the same, a much closer version of the car then the previous games. People just use it as an excuse to dog on the game.

You know, in real life I saw a toyota prius one day, and then the next day, you know what i saw? ANOTHER prius. Its like the irl game devs couldnt be bothered to release new cars every single day and just recycled the models. Such laziness.
Its pretty worrying that they really only showed recycled cars in the GTA 6 trailer. Everyone had high hopes for Forza Horizon 5 but when it came it, it was literally just a dlc for Horizon 4. So it worries me a little bit that they might have alot of recycled cars in the early years of GTA 6's life. BUT with that being said, GTA is known for putting cars from past games into new ones. For example the Sultan, Banchee and the Comet were all cars in GTA 4 and the Banchee and Comet were also in GTA San Andreas. So its not surprising that they would have cars from GTA 5 in the new game
And yet back when GTA V was released, no one complained about the reused cars from GTA IV...
They've been using the same cars since GTA3 (maybe even longer, 3 was my first) They just re-use some, update some models, and add more as the games come out. It makes 0 sense for people to just all of a sudden be upset about it, that is just how it goes and it wouldn't make any sense for it to be any other way
