  • 3 massive improvements I've seen from Osaka in the last 6 months. 1. Fitness and speed around the court 2. Consistency, plays with much more margin than what she once did 3. Mental strength. With consistent results at all 4 grand slams, she's a major grand slam contender

    @markanthonycore4081@markanthonycore40816 жыл бұрын
    • Mark Anthony Core that’s because her coach introduced her into using more topspin, so that explains the margin thing.

      @danieljarmann87@danieljarmann876 жыл бұрын
    • other improvements are that she is constructing points much better and she is also increasingly able to problem solve during a match.

    • Absolutely! I had the same feeling about her as I did for Nadal when he arrived on tour. If she's consistent and dedicated, I see her as a future dominating slam champion!

    • Mark Anthony Core I agree, her movement is much better and so is her ball hitting, much cleaner. She seems more composed.

    • paper wait exactly and about point construction: she said it herself that she is much more aware of what she's doing on the court. She's matured in the last couple of months.

    • 17sunnyhour, You are correct Her inconsistency probably due to her being a rookie, I remember the Williams sisters started out that way too. She got the physical talent.The mental aspect of professional tennis is what she will need to improve to become a Grand Slam Winner. Did you know that she is half Haitian? That's where she gets that beautiful Tan.

  • i don't think that pliskova matches up well against naomi. while naomi also serves big and hits big, she moves much better than pliskova. naomi really does have a game that is much like that of serena's. halep might have a big problem against naomi if halep can't find a way to break naomi's spirit. the match against sakkari was good experience in adjusting to a player who mixes things up, which is something that halep does really well. i don't understand the negative comments about pliskova. lack of showing emotion does not mean that she is playing without heart or that it will keep her from being able to win. some of the comments about pliskova are not entirely unlike some of the comments about ivan lendl when he was playing. it didn't prevent him from winning. pliskova's biggest challenges are the limitations in her game: it's not clear that she moves that well; and she needs time to wind up for her big ground strokes. so a big hitter like naomi can make things difficult for her.

    • Brent Pham Yup, I think I read it in an interview before she started working with Sascha Bajin. I’ve been a big Serena fan since 2000 when I saw her play Venus at the 2000 Wimbledon. I’ve also been dreading the day that Venus and Serena will retire, so it’s fun to see a young player like Naomi emulate their playing style on the court.

      @jasonly2387@jasonly23876 жыл бұрын
    • All because she is brown doesn't mean she plays like a Williams sister. Venus and Serena by her age were serving and volleying and winning doubles slams. This girl just hits hard and can hit some fat serves. Pliskova does that. Ostapenko hits hard. So does Sharapova.. A bit too one dimensional to play a Williams style game. So can you please clarify what makes Osaka's game a Williams game as opposed to just hitting hard? Because the sisters have a whole lot of variety than they get credit for.

    • P V You ain't got to get all out of control about what I said. But if you must know what I think is similar I'd say it's shot selection.

    • roter13 Naomi looks like she's developing into a great player (with some Serena-like attributes) and will be a contender in the future, but her serve isn't on Serena's level, which would be a foundation of Serena 2.0. lol

    • For Naomi to be Serena 2.0, she would have to be better than Serena. Serena has 23 Grand Slam Singles titles 13 doubles 3 Olympic Golds and I believe 2 or 3 Mixed Doubles titles... Naomi isn't even in her league.... And if we adjust for age... Serena had already won some doubles slams and mixed doubles slams with Venus by this time already....Does Osaka even play doubles?
