    • it’s actually not bad at chess. chatgpt is just built to consider all your previous responses during the conversation. so when you play chess with it, it sees all the board positions in your game at once and has no idea which one is correct. i’ve tried starting a new chat for every move and it plays well for like 20 moves

  • I actually understood how the ChatGPT messes up when I tried to practice a Queen's Gambit with it At the moment it says the last move wasn't good/legal, it basically forgets all moves played until then, so it practically starts a new game from that move on, but without remembering where all pieces were standing on the last move

  • ChatGPT has gotten so used to humans explaining to it why the moves it's trying to do are illegal, that it now thinks doing so is a normal part of chess, and does so whenever the opponent does a move it didn't see as possible. After all, most likely, from ChatGPT's perspective, humans are telling it that its move is illegal whenever it comes up with a really good move that gives it advantage! (if it can even understand the concept of having the advantage)
