    • It’s all fun and games until the one and only engine you have, quits. Regardless of how well you think your engine is maintained, anything can happen. Not to mention weather. Night time ops ads a whole new level of complication and risk that I’m not willing to play with when the odds are already stacking against me.

He was very interested to see if I learned a lot and I told him I learn better from videos like yours vs just some talking heads in a training video! It was cool to run into someone from youtube:) Oh, and Instrument Checkride passed!

    • Hahaa, good guess Kai ;-) I saw that u r also into flying and cars. I am specially into Porsche. My latest one is a limited 718 GT4 Sports Cup Edition. There are also some videos here on YT. Are you driving track days? I used to fly a privately owned PA 28 when I was more frequently in the area of Phoenix and kept my PPL current. Had lots of fun with my girl flying up to Sedona for breakfast and continuing to the GCanyon or KLAS. Also flew many times into the Socal Area including Catalina......thats why I love this channel sooo much. Reminds me of all the time spend in the plane and experiencing the area.....which is at least in my opinion, very diversified. Always love to fly from Santa Monica to the east and using the "propstream" between the mountains over Palm Springs direction desert. Once had 160+ GS in an basic Arrow.....lol.

    • @@kgiesbert Yes I am! I am German too btw! I moved to LA from Munich when I was about 15 mostly because of my aviation path I was on. I do love cars and had the pleasure of reviewing cars for quite a while and currently sell BMWs in Newport Beach. The 718 GT4 is excellent. I love any GT cars. Looking for a 997.2 GT3 sometime in the next few years I hope. I do go on the track as well in my 6 Speed Manual F80 M3. Sounds like you did get some great flying experience here. I love flying in the Southwest. That's quite some good speed you had there. My record was 290 GS in a Cessna 400 from Long Beach to KLAS at 17500'. I have done a few hours in the 744 in FRA at ProFlight as well, quite a bit easier to land than single engines (for me at least haha). You're very fortunate to get to fly the 747!

      @Kaipeternicolas@Kaipeternicolas3 жыл бұрын
    • @@Kaipeternicolas I already saw in the videos that u r german as well. I have to say that I really love flying the older 400s as the -8I has some characteristcs I do not like so much. The 400 is just that bit nicer to fly because its more maneuverable.....maybe I am too sensitiv as many colleagues say that they don't feel it.....but it is super nice to be able to fly the bird for a living. Its the queen and everytime I get out of the cockpit and see the plane from outside I question myself....ok, I really flew this ship? The cockpit and upperdeck area is pretty small on the 47 (upperdeck is like an old 737). Concernig the GT cars....the 997.2 GT3s are cool. We have a 993 Carrera S, 987 Cayman 2.7 Base and a 982 (718) GT4 Sports Cup Edition. Than older they get than cooler they get....Porsches. Looking for the 982 GT4RS. Guess it comes in april onto the market. Do you have an ATP or CPL/PPL IFR? Saw that you also fly helis. Never done that before.

      @kgiesbert@kgiesbert3 жыл бұрын
    • @@kgiesbert Oh really? I didn't know there was a difference really to the -8 but actually now that I think about it, I believe the -8 has Fly-By-Wire if I am not mistaken? I think I just saw that a -4 from DLH landed in LAX today and is going to Mojave tomorrow for her final resting place. Very sad... I have flown so much on these planes as passenger and will miss them and the A340s a lot. Yeah the GT4 is going to be great I am sure. I can't wait to see them. I have a SEL and Rotorcraft PPL + SEL IFR and soon my CPL. Had the chance to fly a Citation Mustang as well and have some Twin Star hours. I kinda put my aviation on hold for a while but now I am getting back into it and might work in the industry.

  • How cool. My buddy and I did a similar trip after Oshkosh in the early 2000’s. We owned a Mooney M20K N39MG. We stopped at Custer for lunch on our way to Yellowstone. Yellowstone had numerous forest fires so we diverted to Cheyenne. The controller asks if we hotel reservations. We said no. He tells us there is a major cowboy celebration that weekend and there are no hotels or rental cars for hundreds of miles. So we went to Denver instead. The Mooney was a great traveling machine.

Those things are awesome to have, but only if you can actually get to them when needed. If you go down in rough terrain, there is no telling where the SPOT will end up, and if your or your partner will be physically able to get to it. That's why it's recommended to have the SPOT attached to something (flight/survival vest) on your person and not attached to the airplane. Looking forward to the next installment of your trip. • Nice! I was at Grand Prismatic a few years ago and kind of kneeling down to get a low shot when I felt someone next to me... like snuggled up close. I glanced over and there was a young oriental woman getting herself and her camera as close to the same shot as I was taking. She looked up from her camera, smiled, went back to the camera, finished rattling off a few bursts, got up, and went back to her group :o) I have made a few trips to Yellowstone. The best was in November, right before they shut down to switch to winter ops. The park was almost empty. I drove through West Yellowstone on my way to Gardiner. he worst was in July. It was way too crowded and I vowed to never do that again. Grand Teton NP is also gorgeous but also best to be avoided in July.

  • I'M sure you understood that you are in a vocanic activity zone. Many of the spots you visited are on the Red List for volcanic possibilites, thats why we go ! Exciting ! 😎

  • Great work looks like a cool trip minus the logistics issue. Can we get more approach & takeoff footage? Cinematog was well done once again.
