  • Josh, another great video in all respects! One thing....from initial flight training - way back when. I was always taught to treat the prop the same as the proverbial unloaded gun....don’t trust it!

    • I agree! A few people called that out in the comments here, and I appreciate the feedback. We check our magnetos before shut down after every flight to make sure the off position grounds them every time, but just like a firearm, you should always assume that it’s hot and ready to go. Learning and refining every day! Thanks for the feedback.

    • @@Aviation101 I have a fear of flying and acrophobia. I was told that the best way of fighting with it is learning how flying works or what is happening, and I find your videos great, it definitely helps a lot. Thanks.

    • Yeah my dad taught me to fear the prop lol, the only way I get close to it is to check for nicks or bends during my pre-flight. Not to mention me bonking my head into some of the bigger plane's props at the hangar I work at. I've been traumatized!

  • Thanks everyone for the great feedback! This was a short, relatively last-minute flight. That morning, the plan was to put Peyton in the left seat and get her acquainted with basic stick-and-rudder flying in VFR weather, but the clouds just wouldn't lift. We were going to just scrub, but decided that since we already had the plane fueled and pre-flighted, lets just go do an IFR proficiency flight for myself. It was fun! Thanks for watching. Please leave any feedback you might have in the comments!

  • The one thing I have admired for several years about your channel...... you make aviation appear much more accessible than others do. Whether in a King Air, SR22T, or a little Cherokee, there’s always a sense that you couldn’t be happier in any other plane at that time. I hope your voice to the next generation of aviators is listened to because it’s refreshing.

Could not have been farther than the truth lol. Day after my checkride I flew my Grumman across FL from FXE to DAB and wow was that a learning experience. One of the best days of my life no doubt, but I was left with more questions about flying, weather, aircraft systems, than I had while I was a student. • Outstanding video! Hopefully she wasn't overwhelmed with all of the IFR info. I got my PPL later in life and glad I was able to focus just on the VFR portion. Decided to just be a proficient VFR pilot as I have no commercial aspirations. When faced with IMC, I will always delay or divert, but your video's are always overflowing with great info. Just an aside, I always ask for hood time during my BFR's and fly safety as often as possible for the IFR folks, to keep sharp on basic instrument skills/procedures.

  • Josh, I liked how you kept the iPad with ADSB on the screen so that we could also see the other aircraft.
