I wish content creators would stop covering the natural sounds of the work being done with annoying music.
Because this is all recycled/stolen video and music from other real creators... this youtube page is spam and should be reported as such
I just use my Mute button.
@@hhl31636 Why watch a video in silence?
Yes the music sucks
How about getting sick of the fucking bullshit ads you have to watch.. Sick of youtube
Constructive criticism: Your music is so bad and so overwhelmingly loud that I couldn't bear to keep watching. Make better videos by keeping the music slightly above audible threshold when the primary purpose is anything other than a music video and don't fade it louder. Your audience is not watching these videos for the music.
100% agree and came to the comment section to say the same thing! I don't know if I am alone in this thought, but to me, the sounds of the work itself are the real music that I want to hear. The sawing, chopping, hammering playing over a backdrop of ambient natural noise. Music to my ears.
Humm just turn the volume on your device down. Duh !
@@gillesgoulet2545 How do I do that?
@@brendonbentley6617 if you don't know how to adjust the volume of your device you should be watching you tube videos on "how to adjust the volume on any device " duh ,!
hear! hear!
Missed a lot of steps there, making it look easy. It's not
The music makes it hard to watch
AMAZING !!!! Total skill, very impressive ✌️
Just saw Erik Grankvist make his log cabin alone fresh out of high school, with no prior knowledge and with only ax and saw (hand tools), some measuring tool.
No music either 😍😍
Yes loved his videos and work ethic. Mesmerising effort from Erik
I built one in a pine woods when I was 12 years old with just an axe. No help from anyone. I really don't think anyone ever knew I built it! lol
@@jimfurr81 so that's where Noah learned how to build a boat...
I've never actually seen someone use a template for the notching. Makes sense. Those logs are going to fit so tightly together. I've never seen a chainsaw used as a sander either.
You make the best use with the tools you have.
I was in central B.C..........we used a chainsaw for cuts down to a 1/8th of an inch (building a house)....only used a skill saw for trusses and a table saw for cabinets ...50% chain saw, 30% table saw 10% chop saw and 08% skill saw and 2% jig saw!
And the full length of the log groove...how did that suddenly happen?
and a perfectly round timber ?
@@mortenpetersen8888 they run them through a mill to get them straight and round. They're not as they came right off the forest .
Fantastic and fantastic work
"Tutorial: Using a chainsaw like a scalpel"
Fun fact: chainsaws were originally invented as surgical tools. In childbirth.
That...that is not that hard.
Going from debarking to milled lumber without a beat was a bit... interesting.
To say the least.
I caught that too. I was thinking, wait, we missed a number of steps here LOL! Pretty sure that was kiln dried too...but not sure.
@@grc5618 It sure wasn't wet...that chainsaw wouldn't be cutting through it like butter.
Using a straight up mortise and tenon joint saved a little time, ya think? Same thing for the "V" horizontal joint. Need a sharper ax.
I would think a 2 inch timber framing chisel would be easier \ more precise than using the axe to finish what the power saw couldn't.
I’ll bet this guy does wood carvings with that chainsaw too. What a talent!
Debarked log.... Straight to a turned and milled log. Wait what happened?
Nice some Swedish cope and Norwegian wedge notch mixed in the same cabin Not everyday you see both styles on the same home. Was waiting to see some Butt and Pass next
When you appeal in the logs I thought you were building but I see you have milled them all into great big dowels
33 seconds and I am exhausted!
This is great thank you!
You made that groove in that log the hard way😂
Amazing skills!
It's amazing, how you are able to choose what tree, how to pull the log with simple l e machine, and not get hurt or splinters on your hand, legs . I am totally amazed.

Nice Job, man, and ...No wonder, you are using Fiskars Ax, Made in Finland, best in a World !!!;o), and,..yes I am a Finn, here in South Florida, and my GrandFather and his brothers, they were very Famous Builder group for big LogHouses, Laukkanen Brothers,.... in Northern Finland, 1920',30', 40, 50, and some 1960', they built more than 30 big School and other State buildings, which are still straight, and Up !!=), I usually spend couple nights in a Log Cabin, Hotel on a Lake, at Arctic Circle, which Main Building and Sauna they built 1952-1954 !!
This guy knows his stuff. Thanks 👍🇨🇦
They're probably only soft pine logs but that saw is super sharp...👍
Brilliant! Work smarter, not harder!!
9:20. Those are some nice tight joints. I'm impressed.
those notches fail since they trap water.
@@Frostified Really? I thought these were the best type of notches!
you noticed they turned them after cutting right? I don`t see how those trap water
@@robertsvareid1451 Scandinavian scribe with the round notch on top is by far the best. The 600 year old cabins still standing are a testament to that. I just noticed these are done right. I think I commented on the wrong video lol.
Nik Rijavec and Erik Granvist have entered the chat. Carrying nothing but axes.
Why would you not cut a bunch of straight lines down to the blue outline? Then you could chip them out much faster and cleaner.
That's exactly how I do it.
That first guy wasn't comfortable using the chainsaw to carve, and was getting too close to his shins...
he makes it look easy with is the hall mark of a skilled tradesman for sure very nicely done.
Use a reciprocating saw you will get a better fit
What a beautifully crafted joint.
Good video but i dont like music. I like to hear building sounds not music. Great work.
More efficient to cut logs to 2×10 and lay them up. It's tighter and more easily insulated. Have a portable sawmill stop by and build your cabin better for half the price.
Great skills - that music made me throw my laptop, though.
Do you put any type of sealer or some type of covering to keep the outside weather out and the heat inside during cold and raining seasons.
Yes
@@jacobheitmann6795 ok
If you're talking about between the logs you put chinking in-between them
Whale fat.
Great video 😍
Wow this reeks of ambition. Kudos M8
It's nice the tree gods make all the trees the same diameter so your juig fits exactly. In my part of the world the tree gods need a jolly stern talking to.
Well atleast the fella is doin somethin creative...
Good job of cutting with the chain saw.
All right 58 seconds in and the music drove me crazy, it was a short trip.
I like the floor scraper for debarking
Amazing Skils Bro💯💯
Awesome video, thanks :)
this is perfect... now i just need a huge lathe for exact log diameters
Exactly!!😂
An axe works well but an adz might be easier on a curved surface ......
Felicitaciones que buen trabajo una elegancia
you missed a spot on your knee...............too close for comfort there friend!
Muy buena técnica de construcción...!!. Gracias !! Saludos desde las sierras de Córdoba Argentina...!!! 👍👌💪🇦🇷
Amazing!
This is so cool. I've always wanted to build something like this 😎
@Read A book finances,lol
@Read A book just a dream of mine...anywhere secluded haha
Pro tip: Watch in 1.5x speed.
Was anybody else bothered by how overcut that notch was?
On your INITIAL cuts I would've used the tip of my saw to lightly cut in the scribe lines ! Kinda like when you use a utility knife before you cut out for door hardware !!!
Exactly - half the time and effort of axing out the final cuts
Good video and good skills
Peel logs in spring when the frosted winter sap begins to run. Easy to remove. Let logs air dry.
Incredible hand/eye coordination
Awesome peeler ! Much more effective than a draw knife !
What a skill !
This is great, but my logs are not all from a lincoln log kit turned to a perfect consistent diameter with that nice cope right down the side.
Pekná práca chlapci
What’s with the annoying noise?.....Not the Saw!
Yuo
1:08 - Well he cleaned the log with a shovel only. ))
gives shivers to watch that chainsaw in action
The notches look like they're level. Will you slope the notches to drain water out and away?
They seal the gaps. I would be more worried about footings, as I saw grass underneath the logs.
@@DL101ca if this was a log home manufacturer doing this, the grass you saw was probably in their yard. Each log for the building is exact cut and the home assembled in the yard, then taken apart and shipped to the buyers lot. I use to see this alot in WI at a few log home manufacturers.
I would probably of had sharp tools before starting this but I liked this
Um belo trabalho. Mas gasta muita madeira pra pouca coisa.
You make it look like it's a lego build, but I'm pretty sure that's not the case.
You would never clean the bark off a spruce or pine from s Dakota. Branches every foot at least
Fine
Wake up! That is the way log cabins are built. Where have you been?
Your jig for the saddles only work if the logs are uniform .. and they never are unless you work for a company who builds them professionally but great video nonetheless
Pfuuu Excelent video! Direct like 👍 from România 😉
Excellent !
This dude could probably give a haircut with his chain saw. Outstanding precision and skill.
Thank god for fast forward!
LOL savage.
Great chainsaw skills...but don't understand why half way through you spend half your time chopping away when you could just be careful and do everything with a small chainsaw. You're obviously skilled
you should put amazon links to that chainsaw and make some money
Well the saw is sharp. But log house building has come a long way since the fifties:)
video is good except back ground music.
