Our ten car line up consists of the 2019 Subaru Forester 2.5i-S, 2019 Hyundai Tucson Highlander, 2019 Ford Escape Titanium, 2019 Nissan X-Trail Ti, 2019 Mazda CX-5 GT Turbo, 2019 Kia Sportage GT-Line, 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan 132TSI Comfortline, 2019 Holden Equinox LTZ-V, 2019 Honda CR-V VTi-LX and the 2019 Toyota RAV4 GXL 2.0. As a Subby Forester owner for 3 yes.... All I can said is....... Best handling Compact SUV I'd ever drive. Though the Aspirated power train is not as strong as the Turbocharged but its always fun ride especially driving during rainy days
This review is top notch!! Real world tests and solid conclusions. Great job Drive.com.au !!
Really nice video, I love watching each vehicle doing the same tests, especially the emergency braking tests. Seeing some of those cars hitting the plastic test vehicle's rear end was eye opening. Well laid out and explained video...Well done.
I love that you did all those measurements. Other "reviewers" drive vehicles around for a while, and then they grade them based on how they FELT the vehicles handled. No numbers, no inflatables, no cones, just feelings.
Brilliant compression guys; very informative and absolutely relevant for the average consumer - Well done - other channels could learn a lot from this review..!!
I'm looking for this type of tests for a long time. This is the best and very practical. Thank you
Fantastic review! I've always had confidence in my Forester, but seeing it pitted against 9 other SUV and coming out on top is the most confidence boosting feeling. Also there's the plus side of finally getting to see it perform the "Moose Test" and perform it flawlessly!
The most valuable car comparison video I've ever watched on YT. Very well done you guys!! Liked.
Absolutely loved this review please do this for other types of cars too !!
That's pure service to clients Great work 👏👍
Forester hands down the best SUV for the money here!
One of the best and most inclusive safety reviews of these SUVs on youtube. Any chance you can do another test for 2020 which includes the newest generation of Rav4? This one was very informative, again thank you for all the work and the video.
Just got my Forester this week. It's the most impressive car I've owned since the Mazda RX-7 I purchased in 1978, when I was very young and foolish.
One of this channel's best videos!
This is the most comprehensive test comparison ive ever seen online, and its so eye openning its rediculouse. I bought a forester because of your review, thanks so much, and i love my SUBIE😍😍😍
This review is brilliant. Keep the good work. Foerster is my favorite there.
This review helps me decide on my new car. After very long consideration on CX5, CRV and Xtrail, I'm already leaning towards the CX5 for its design and performance, but after this review, it just check the most impontant box on my list, safety feature. Thank you and plz keep up with great work!
Excellent review! Unbelievable how much content is packed in it!
Excellent evaluation! Hope you perform another with the 2020 models; specifically CR-V, Tiguan, CX-5, Forester, and RAV-4.
Fantastic and comprehensive review, thank you!
great work, you should include this type of test with all your comparisons... and for selfish reasons any plans for one with the bigger SUV's :) (eg Pajero sport, Everest etc) it would be good to know how safe these actually are (or not) in normal road driving.
Wow, this is honestly the absolute most well-made vehicle comparisons I have ever seen.
Thanks Taylor happy you liked it!
Thanks. I did a lot of research and decided the 2019 Forester Touring (top spec here in the U.S.) was the safest car I could find with the balance between economy and cargo capacity I need for work. So I bought one. I saw this video after I bought the car, and I'm happy to see my choice was likely the correct one.
Love this! Absolutely grateful for videos like this. Kudos!
Wow ... great effort and excellent review ... out of the box review not like any others
I like the RAV4 being present. I like the reference point it provides.
Great study and great video! You made my decision for my next purchase.
Just bought first ever Subie Forester 2020. Couldn't be happier. Best buy of my life.
Great review, let's see if the SUV vehicles ( manufactures )race to improve on safety features across the range offering and not just the top of the range on show in this segment!?
Please make this review on midsize hatchback or saloon please, excellent and informative review
Subaru ❤
Great review, this is what more everyday car reviews need to be about. If more average buyers heed this advice the road will be a safer place. Subaru are doing great things with there eye-sight systems across the range. I was very impressed with even the base model Impreza and would recommend to anyone. This is not a paid post, I don't work for or am affiliated with Subaru in any way. I own a Toyota, I just think they're doing the right things very well.
Subaru has Toyota inventing in it. Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru) : Currently, the company makes Subaru brand cars, and its aerospace division makes parts for Boeing, helicopters for the Japanese Self Defense Force, RaytheonHawker, and Eclipse Aviationbusiness jets.
Best car review on things that are important. Other reviews never mention or test safety at all. Thumbs up.
Thanks!
Drive, good review guys.. keep it up.. more comparison reviews of vehicles in the same category !
Brilliant segement - thank you! I'm loving my '22 Forester even more now! :-)
Very informative review, thank you.Been looking at SUVs in particular & this video is just the ticket.
Mark Thomas buy the Forester. It’s simply a outstanding vehicle for its class.
Ricky Sharp I might take one for a test drive based on this review. I’ve taken the Mazda CX-5 out for one already & very tempted by the ride comfort & performance.Do you own one?
Mark Thomas I own a new 2019 Forester 2.5i-S. It truely leaves everything in the segment behind when it comes to a perfectly composed all rounder vehicle.
My one is Outback 2.5 and I love this ....Little over 400Km driven but just less than half tank. Subaru ? you name it....
Can you please do the same type of comparison for larger SUVs (Santa Fe, CX-9 et al?)???? 🙏🏼🙏🏼
It's no surprise, Subaru is the Japanese Volvo when it comes to safety
Don't Volvo sell cars in Australia? Was expecting an XC40 or XC60 in this test
Christopher Martin Yeah they do but Volvo is a premium car brand whereas the cars in this video were mainstream car brands.
Volvo WISHES it was as safe as a Subaru.
Excellently well-done video. My favorite is Subaru Forester... forever ... :)
I have a 2012 Forester and a fully loaded 2015 3.6 Outback. They are amazing cars. They handle extremely well, are very reliable and have a low cost to maintain. The CVT in my Outback robs the vehicle of performance but is still pretty decent and it's still plenty fast for a family vehicle. Sure there are many more capable vehicles but the bang for your buck is excellent as is the resale. My 2012 base model forester I paid $15K for in 2015 as a certified model. That same year still sells for $9500 retail. The dealership offered me $6500 trade (November of 2019). I'm looking to upgrade but there is nothing wrong with it so I will hold onto it for a while.
Excellent review, these are the kind of reviews that we need instead of sheer performance based reviews !!!
I have investigated potential fraudulent claims. Below is the way that these matters are usually dealt with. If the insurer suspects a claim is fraudulent they will normally appoint an external investigator (usually ex police) to investigate the matter. The investigator will interview her and will record the interview on tape. She will be given a copy of the transcript when it is typed up. The investigator will ask questions covering: your driving experience/record vehicle servicing vehicle condition, i.e. did you deliberately prang it because it was insured for more than it is worth your financial circumstances events leading up to the collision, i.e. where had you been, who had you been with, where were you going, had you been drinking circumstances of the collision itself She will probably be asked to provide copies of her phone call for the month prior to the incident, as well as bank & credit card statements and a copy of her driving record. They may interview anyone you had been with in the period prior to the accident. They may speak to whoever services your car. They may even talk to your neighbours. It is hard to say exactly what path the investigator will take, given that I don't know why they suspect the claim to be fraudulent. The description of the collision, a straight forward collision with a pole, would not automatically ring any alarm bells. Things that will trip the fraud profile are accident happened late an night (possible PCA), rego/insurance due soon (financial problems), insurance taken out just before accident, etc. Essentially the insurer is trying to prove, on the balance of probability, that the claim is fraudulent. The most common reasons for fraudulent claims are financial or the driver was PCA. If the insurer formally rejects your claim the next step is to go through your insurer's dispute resolution process. It is pretty rare for the insurer to overturn their original refusal for fraud. The next step is to go to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority. If that does you no good then you will need to take it to court. Obviously something our of the ordinary happened for the insurer to have the black box examined.

give me one car l dont have money
@@stevethea5250 Why do you keep saying "she"?
@@jeffhudson7076 It divides alot of investors the gold question. Holding physical gold is like an insurance policy. It goes up when everything else gets risky. Investing in financial products that are linked to gold is not necessarily the same thing though. Alot of people are saying the markets are in for a rough ride. Recession is coming. Holding some gold will be good if that happens. Selling it at the right time is important. You really have to do some research n make this decision yourself. If your not sure, and you sound unsure, dont go buying things you dont understand.
Best test ever! I hope you will review again for next model of suv
excellent test, thank you
subaru forester it is! Thanks!
Matt Just signed on the dotted line for my Forester, its on a slow boat from Japan, cant wait.
Just wondering why the Outlander wasn't available and if you did get one how do you think it might have stacked up again the rest? Also which model would you go for to make it comparable?
This is a really good comparison. Any chance of getting a 2021 re-hash?
For me i choose Mazda CX-5, is beautiful and most fun to drive!
brilliant review 👏
I suggested my parents to buy the Subaru Forester and I find the video and showing the Subaru Forester at one of the top
Great video. I would have been interesting to see the test done with the same brand and model of tyres on all cars. Tyres are a very important part of safety and driveability. I got an 2014 XT last year and to me, it's the perfect do-it-all car👌 With a mild stage 1 tune it performs great on tarmac, and the cars that are quicker there can't follow med into the terrain 😊
Love my forester and ascent. Best buy.
I think that Ascent has the lowest initial quality title...
It's a good technical test for the SUVs, however you should have shown us also how responsive there 4WHD systems are
Really great test 🐨
Brilliant quality content
Well done Subaru! #love
thanks this video, helps a lot
nice test.. keep it up, I am glad I have purchased the Forester.... Safety 1st !!!
Please do similar kind of comparision on sedans such as Mazda3, subarau Impreza, ford focus, holden astra, Honda civic etc
This has to be the best All-SUV review/comparison/shootout video ever made! Outstanding work!
Great video guys! Thank you
This Forester was tested with the Bridgstone tires with 17" rims. The Limited has 18" rims and superior Falken tires. Great test! I actually like the look of the Forester, but mainly the interior and dash set up is really nice. Get the 8" infotainment screen.
I bought a Tiguan Highline. Very fun and safe to drive. Although regret not chose r-line package.
Nice dry, sunny test day. How does Subaru's eyesight AEB camera-based system do when in the rain, or in direct sunlight, or a dirt road that puts dust on the windscreen?
Fantastic Drive.com.au the best review I have seen till date from your company. It is really helpful of families buying based on safety
Great vid 👍
Brilliant info,thks.
Brilliant review
Fantastic report. Most auto reviewers tick off the safety features, such as autonomous braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring. However almost no one tests them. This report shows they are not all equal. Just wish you'd also tested adaptive cruise control, because I suspect there are some significant differences between makes.
I no longer need my Pickup ... I am looking for a good, safe AWD and this is the BEST testing I have found on the internet ... congrats ... I will buy a Forester. Thanks
Bought mine two weeks ago and extremely happy in every respect
I think the best car is the ANCAP. It can handle the accidents like a champ and cheap to repair. Sick camber on the wheels.
Can you do this kind of review with the three row suvs?
It’s a shame that the outlander is unavailable, I have one and absolutely love it, had a close call on the motorway where someone had a rear end right in front of me and the aeb got me down from 110kmh to 50kmh which was then a safe speed for me to be able to swerve around the accident
nissan xtrail lemon by ex owner.... i bought a 2012 2.4 xtrail and took it to the beach which is the most common off road environment.. it could not drive the wheels out of the sand.. just revd a little and nothing... stuck.. i checked the gear ratio of 1st gear which has an overall ratio of 10 to 1... way to high... other suv are 15 to 1 overall in 1st and can pull out of the sand...i sold this lemon within a month and bought a mitsi outlander... no problem...spins all wheels in the sand.. this is a diesel as at low revs the diesel has more torque and hp than the petrol ....the 2l version xtrail has 15 to 1 overall ratio in 1st... overall includes the diff ratio
I ❤️ my CX-5
Nice Comparison Video!
Very informative video.
Excellent reviews....
Love my Forester. So comfy, so safe, so easy to see out of. :)
I have the Subaru Outback XBreak. Beautiful car 😍
I've had a 2019 Forester Limited for 2 months now and I love it.
Greatest visibility i have seen in a viechel, feels like a airplane's cockpit!
Pity they are so underpowered and have a CVT
Outdated and overrated
I love Nissan X Trail but lost with Subaru 😮
Thank you for this amazing content. In my country we have interesting situation. WV and Skoda have enormous adv budget. That is why tiguan and kodiak are bestsellers. Ordinary consumer doesn't know anything about high technologies of safety in Subaru. Ordinary consumer in Russia doesn't know anything about Subaru brand. Marketing and budgets rule the world... P.s. owner of Hyundai Tucson 2019
Very good working tanks you
I'm deciding between the 2019 CRV and Forester... This was very helpful!
Kathlyn Irons go forester
Erik Giovani Test drive tomorrow morning!😊
Kathlyn Irons I got one since this comment lmao
Subaru buddy!!
Perhaps just swapping in some STI or Brembo brakes in the Forester and it'll ace even the stopping test! Good video review BTW!
What about the Outback? Do you have a rating on it in its class?
Subaru in Spain is pretty expensive, also the Tiguan. Finally I bought a Tucson and I'm very happy.
Both my Mother and wife drive Subaru Foresters and they love them very capable and reliable vehicles
I really like all the cars involved but wish the new rav4 was included! that model is now old in the usa at least
Bought this model in January 2019 , love it
I love how you say Sportage.
Mark Larry we also pronounce Mazda, Hyundai and Nissan differently 😊😂
As an American, I'm never pronouncing it the American way again.
It’s like y’all are watching my searches. The forester is the car I’ve been eyeing for a bit now. In all honesty it’s been my favorite car I’ve looked at an test driven. And somehow it’s not huge but it has the most amount of space compared to all of the other cars I’ve looked at
Thanks a lot. Was undecided btn X-Trail and subaru now I know which car to go for
Glad we could help.
love forester!
Todas las opciones son buenas, pero Subaru Forester se diferencia. Es la mejor.
Subaru Forester Sport in white pearl.
What about it?
Looks great and that's fully loaded without the leather seats at 35k CDN. With the X-Mode feature that will get you out of heavy snow, mud and sand. All Subaru's offer the X-Mode, yet the Sport X-Mode works even better. Of course it's a matter of taste what SUV looks better than the other, but this video shows the Forester competes and excels all of its competitors. Subaru's new global platform has put itself above many of the competition. The interior fit and finish are excellent and at par with the Honda's and Mazda's. Consumers Reports named Subaru as the best company for 2018. Largely due to the Forester and Crosstrek. Here in Ontario Canada, there was a waiting list for 3 mths to get the new 2019 Crosstrek. Forester had many car journalists saying that the new global platform Forester is the best ever. I've always been a Honda guy for years. I love Honda but I'm seriously considering the Forester and Crosstrek in 2020
@@speedy510 Uh, maybe he or she likes the white sport model? What do you think they mean? What about it? C'mon!
@@speedy510 What about it? LoL. Means they like the white color sports model. If you don't, that's your choice and you have the right to your opinion. As does everyone on here.
Brad Creber you tell ‘em! So tired of these kids and their trolling! Btw, the new Foz is a wonderful car. You won’t regret it if you decide to purchase one 👍
Hmm...at 10:11 I see the hazzard lights on the forester come on automatically in the emergency braking....fantastic idea to warn driver behind you!!
Yes, most cars these days either flash the hazards lights or brake lights, or both under hard braking. I believe all SUV's in this video do that in one way or another.
Since 2012 most cars have it but never use it, yet
My vw does the same thing. It’s a 2013 model.
My hyundai i30 (2013) has got that too😁
Great comparison. I agree that the Subaru is an all round great product and the “eyesight”system is very confidence inspiring.
Subaru new cars have 113 problem per 100 vehicles, a ton of recalls (not very good for a company with just 8 models), they all burn a little oil (some are real bad), the CVT is numb and zaps power, shudders and bucking wile coasting , poorly built, paint, sheet metal, interior noise, then you hit 60K miles and the power train warranty is up.... one rear wheel bearing hub, then the other rear hub, the the front axle shafts, when you need the AC it will be dead (all of these are more then $700 for each repair) not to mention various other electrical issues.. Beware of all the propaganda on social media, Subaru forums and TV....Subaru should spend more on better engineering and less money on cute dog commercials. The better choices in the segment are "non Japanese vechiels" with conventional transmissions... Good luck
