I understand the meaning of “word salad” now: the art of putting a few “key” words, big words, personal info and statistics together in sentences and phrases that sound good initially, but don’t mean much upon further inspection. Whereas Mellody’s comments made sense, were intelligent and easy to follow, and were grounded in years of experience. Mellody attracted me, to her and to her message. Meghan distracted me with her title, her jewelry, her privilege, her references to Harry & the royal family, and her constant need to tack herself onto the end of everything Mellody said, which annoyed me bc I wanted to fully hear Mellody.
Spot on, and if you focus your microscope a little more deeper you'd notice the word salad comes just after she manages to slip in her pre conceived narrative in her opening statement. 1. Media and social media is bad because it monetizes through toxicity, it only targets women and young girls. (she then goes on to further cement this narrative later in the conversation when she jibes "tabloid newspaper should come with a warning label". And if you look further you'll see she is currently entangled in a court case with a British tabloid newspaper where she has been found to have misled (lied) the court in 2 different occasions. Meghan said something very important- the parity of wages the workplace would build this country in significant ways. Women on average, still don’t make the same as men do.
