The Kool-Aid Man is a Marvel character! ► • Food Theory: Kool Aid ...
Fries are one of the best foods, especially fast food fries. From McDonald's and Burger King to Wendy's and Arby's, there are TONS of options to chow down on our favorite fried potato treat. Today, I want to figure out how to get the MOST out of my order of fries. Which restaurant gives me the most fries for my money and are their order sizes a TRICK to make us spend more on less food? I volunteered to eat my way through to the answer!

  • As a former McDonalds employee I can tell you that we're told to underfill the fries so that they can make more money off of people, I've actually gotten yelled at in the past for filling them too much, but I didn't care and always filled them up with as many fries as I could when my managers weren't looking to give the customers what they were actually paying for.

I didn’t listen to those directions usually cause I didn’t feel like it was fair, but it did get me in trouble a lot with the managers…

  • I can only imagine what an average dude in Matpat's town thinks of him. On Monday, he walks into the movie theater and watches every showing of the same movie. And he takes notes while watching. On Tuesday, he plays video games all day, and seems to repeat the same action over and over again, taking notes every time. On Wednesday, he orders 1 of every kind of french fry order, and conts every last fry in each one, all while taking notes. On Thursday, he strands himself on a deserted island and takes notes on how best to survive in terms of murdering companions.

For his masters thesis he decided he was going to find the optimal meal that you could get at McDonalds, with optimal meaning that you could meet your base nutritional needs for the day at the lowest cost possible. Hilariously after months of work he completed his model and ran it only to find that hundreds of ketchup packets was the “optimal solution” due to it having all the essential nutrients and being free

  • Worked at Arby's myself for a while, even as a manager, and can confirm that a large and medium curly fry are the same. If someone mixed up these two, a fairly common mistake, you could pour one into the other and it'll still be full. I can't however say if this was intentional or not.

  • Over here in the Netherlands I used to order a supersized menu (Large) but always had issues with eating all the fries and also noticed that my 1 cup of sauce was not enough (but 2 cups of sauce was too much). So instead I went with a Medium menu and had found the perfect size. So for me at least they do have more fries in a Large than they do in Medium.

  • Back, when McDonalds had a "Super Size", the carton was quite a bit larger than the other sizes, and it was often well filled, while the other sizes seemed to be inconsistent or underfilled. At some point, they dropped the "Super Size", and in fact, the Super Size cartons became the Large size. The medium size started using the large cartons, and even the small size started using the larger bags, that the mediums had formerly been occupying. In addition, maybe around the 2010's or so, they started filling the cartons and bags as much as possible. That meant that a small could potentially round your meal off nicely, depending on the store. As far as quantity, I haven't had any complaints about McDonald's quantity for a long time. I consider the Large to be excessive, and Medium to be fine, in most cases. I mainly order large, when I'm with a friend, that doesn't order any fries for herself, but likes fries. As far as Orange Hi-C, I'm just overjoyed that it's back.

Mediums would tend to have fries sticking out but firmly in place while larges would end up with a sloped fill that couldn't hold any extra fries. I would try to fill them up more (it's not my money and you basically couldn't get fired at this Arby's) but the fries would usually still spill out. Or worse, tip over after I place them in the warming area, losing the extra fries before they end up in the bag.

    • In a dance competition for our school's so-called "festival of talents," our teacher fed us one fry (yes, a singular fry, one shoestring) each, and it was the coldest soggiest fry we'd all ever eaten. Thing is, we actually won. There's a running joke among the class now that if you want to win a dance competition, every member must eat a cold, soggy shoestring fry. *fixed a typo Edit: the whole class was a total of 50 students, and we were all one team. That's the reason for one soggy fry each.

People think I am soooooo wonderful because of that 😇. BUT...the truth is, I have OCD and don't trust that others are clean enough with their food preparations. So I bring what I want to eat and only eat what I brought. 🤗😁 That way, others are happy and I don't get sick 🤮 from watching people touch food with unwashed hands. #FoodTheory

  • Hi Maccas worker here and at my store it really depends on the employee packaging the fries, if they’re good sure maybe but if there bad medium and large fries are way easier to fully fill with fries compared to a small packet. Small fries is probably half the amount of fries compared to medium
