  • The Ovi - Sid debate is fun, but it's also really weird because those two are really not comparable. They play entirely different games on the ice. Ovi is Ovi and Sid is Sid, and neither plays like the other. Other than both being hockey players (and forwards, and captains), it feels like apples and oranges. I hate him on the ice obviously but I have a deep respect for Crosby's game (as a Caps fan if it wasn't clear). He has incredible skill and only a fool would think otherwise. His skill set is completely different than Ovi's though. It's a bit like comparing a defenseman to a goalie (to a lesser degree, naturally). There's never going to be a clear answer and I've resolved to just appreciating them both for what they do.

    @boerhae@boerhae2 жыл бұрын

    @MaTtUR50@MaTtUR502 жыл бұрын
  • I dunno, personally I think it's more impressive that it's done in the first 50 games, with a cold start. Seems to be a harder task to accomplish too, with guys at a higher skill level seem to have been the ones to accomplish the feat... Gretzky, Hull, Lemieux... There's also the excitement of what the player will do with the rest of the season after such a start and now that they have the ball rolling and line chemistry firing for the end of the season stretch. There's a reason a classic 50 in 50 is such a rare feat. Matthews run is still an impressive feat, but the list of guys who have also done it get much longer once you change it to be 50 goals in ANY 50 game stretch. Nobody is saying Matthews isn't as good as Charlie Simmer, Cam Neely or Alexander Mogilny. But it's not QUITE the same as the short list of guys who managed to get themselves and their line going right out of the gate, notching 50 goals by the 50th game of the season.

  • I'm 99% that even though the Canes would make it to the finals, they wouldn't appear in the NHL plays of the week. Feels weird man.

  • Imagine liking your job as much as the announcer for the Oilers

  • I remember back in 2017 when all of the hockey outlets said the same thing concerning the draft. Unlike 2013,15, and 16 their was no game changing talents that were available. New Jersey takes a chance on this kid named Nico from Switzerland first overall. LOOK AT THAT PLAY!! That makes Mcdavid jealous!!

  • Lots of love for Matthews setting some franchise records, and even Josi for his. But I'm surprised you haven't yet mentioned Jonathan Huberdeau breaking Florida's franchise record of 97 season points (now at 105). Or his record for MOST assists in a single season by a left wing (71, but now he's at 77) IN NHL HISTORY!!! The Panthers have recently passed their franchise records for most wins in a season (48, now at 52), most points (104, now at 110), and most goals in a season (300+). I know you're a Leafs fan, and of course you don't have time to acknowledge every NHL record, but not mentioning a single one of these is crazy! Loved the video though!

  • I love trevor zegeras' style of play. Very creative. It's funny cause he is so happy to score, like ovi and sid. Unlike Matthew's who acts like he is a god or something 🙄

  • Sid was on an absolute mission that game, two of the three goals and an assist on the other. Crosby's Really turned it on at the end of the season which is impressive considering no camp because of wrist surgery and missing games because of COVID and sickness.

    • Him and ovi are so close I think sid is going to play his ass off the rest of the season to pass him.
