  • Makar really is special. Here in Denver, we are spoiled with this team. We get to watch MacKinnon, Makar, Rantanen, Landeskog and Toews. When Makar and/or Mack go into beast mode, it's really amazing to watch.

Then my struggling Red Wings go more than 100 games without a shorty and score two against the Sharks on the same PK 37 seconds apart. That, in my mind, is also a hat pick.

His play on that goal was brilliant, excellent decision making, a great pass, good hustle back down the boards to get it right back, a great move to open up Campbell and a he blasts it in to win. I like Wes McCauley's antics, but NOT the things like Ovechkin's fire stick thing, because when the players do it, it comes across as unsportsmanlike, as if they're mocking the opposition. I don't think that's appropriate. OMG that Korpusalo save. OMG. OMG. OMG. Campbell's save, to me, isn't a hatpick... it's a dangit, because of the sheer collapse of the Leafs AFTER that save. • Welp, not even 24 hrs later and you've got another one by Makar vs. the Preds from Jan 11. Kid is unstoppable. I hope his goal is to be the next Bobby Orr, because he's on his way. (Not sure that's really possible, Orr was just the man--but still, Makar is like the next-gen version for today's game). Oh the Avs are in so many Hat Picks and Dang Its this year. That game had probably the biggest Dang-it from this week too (OT call TMM), and we've still got the rest of the week!!!

  • The "for .. *fighting*" call by the ref cements in my mind that the NHL style of hockey (like the NBA style of basketball) is a brand of hockey. It's not a style of hockey that can or should be practiced / played anywhere else. This doesn't make the NBA or NHL (or WWE, or whatever) wrong. But it is definitely entertainment.

  • Hertl’s natural hat trick? Come back from down 0-2 to win 3-2 in OT?

  • Well the Preds/Avs game is almost assuredly going to be in “Dang Its”, and I’m a Preds fan. What a joke the officiating has been.

  • The only bad thing about the Makar goal, is not getting to hear Moser make the call.

  • The funniest part here is Grzelcyk is only prominent in like 1 of the 5 plays where he got a point. All 4 assists were secondary aside from the Marchand one. Just unreal luck

  • I can't really say I know Dach personally but I was a volunteer coach for 2 months when he played in fort Saskatchewan so I have met him. Even coached him a bit but I don't really know him. But I didn't teach him to play defense like that lol

  • Two years ago I said I thought there would be a legitimate argument as to who is the better hockey player, Makar or MacKinnon. I feel that gap has closed significantly since then and we still aren't close to Makar's celling.
