  • Hey everyone, I'm making a concerted effort to branch out beyond KZhead and make sure TierZoo has some longevity to it independent of platform. If any of you are willing, it would help me out a ton if you'd "Like" my Facebook page here facebook.com/thetierzoo It takes 10,000 followers and 30,000 views to become monetizable on Facebook, and reaching that threshold would be a huge boost to the amount I'm able to spend on each video. So please, if you like my channel, it would help so much!

      @markwackerman5593@markwackerman55933 жыл бұрын
    • @@markwackerman5593 of course it’s viable, or else it wouldn’t be so widespread. Tierzoo seems to think that a lot of the time the only traits worthwhile are those that improve fighting ability, and animals that can’t fight well suck, even if they’re actually great survivors. He says that autonomy is stupid because you lose your weapon, but in most cases if the lizards didn’t lose their tails when attacked they’d just straight up die then and there. Better to lose your weapon than die completely.

    • Honestly, the worst part about his comparison is the whole "max HP" thing. A lizard dropping it's tail affects it's *resistances*, making it more vulnerable to diseases, and having a less energy stores. It won't make the lizard weaker in a fight. ...Well, okay, no. That's just the worst unintuitive part. Obviously the actual worst is that he talks about an objectively positive trait as if it's a negative.

      @gckbowers411@gckbowers4113 жыл бұрын
    • @@scaledjames98 Exactly, TierZoo didn't really do his research on the Tegus. Tegus rarely drop their tail after reaching maturity/high bulk, and instead drop more during youth where it only takes around 2 months to regrow; it is easily the difference between an early death or not, especially when they're not strong enough to use tails as a weapon. Plus they can control how much of the tail to drop, making them immediately better than lizards like the iguanas where its all at once. This is important in the sub-tropical areas most tegus live, where potential predators for a young tegu are far more diverse than what a terrestrial monitor might encounter in an arid environment. For most of these lists, he doesn't seem to realize that negative traits are eventually bred out, and stick around for a reason...

  • Overlooked features: Iguanas have pretty devastating bites. Tegu can raise their body temperature during breeding season, allowing them to be active while other builds still need to bask. They also have a very strong bite and can run pretty fast. Geckos - some of them can not only shed their tail but also their skin, making grappling attacks much harder to land. Also some gecko species spec heavily in the 'cute' factor, forcing human players to keep them as pets which not only protects them from other pvp players but also results in a good and steady supply of xp. Monitors not only can run and breath at the same time, their circulatory system has some pretty unique features in their heart resulting in a much better seperation between veinous and arterial blood which means better endurance. They also have a pretty high intelligence for lizards which results in some of them being able to make use of human players as protectors and xp delivery persons - like geckos.

    @methanbreather@methanbreather Жыл бұрын
    • Geckos should go a little bit higher if only because they come in such a huge variety. While many geckos spec into the climbing ability (like my beloved crestie), others (like beloved AFT gecko) spec into ground dwelling/desert survival specs. This gives geckos a huge range to live in.

  • I love anole lizards. I've seen many in my patio here in New Orleans changing color as they move from branches to leaves but it wasn't until I lucked into a house lizard that I really came to appreciate them. Fruit flies are a common curse here. They are so tiny and numerous that swatting them is hopeless. There may be hundreds in a swarm. Living in an 1850's building I also am cursed with cockroaches, not the tiny ones from the north but 3" giants. I have tried everything to get rid of them but they nest in the empty spaces behind drawers or in walls. About 4 months ago I noticed an anole lizard on my kitchen wall. They are so beautiful, brilliant green with those inscrutable ultra-black eyes. I welcomed it but was unsure whether it could survive in my apartment. There was a big hatch of fruit flies over one of my counters. The next day there were less and by day 3 they were completely gone. I assumed the lizard got them. But then the cockroaches started to disappear. Where I might have seen a dozen or more every day now it was more like 1 or 2. Finally they disappeared too. I can only speculate that the lizard was eating all their eggs. A few tiny ones started showing up with a rare teenage one and I was afraid my lizard had died of starvation, (no more eggs!). I was heartened by seeing just the end of a tail twitch in a crack but the next day there was a tiny lizard body lying on my dishtowel. I don't know why it died. Maybe hunger, maybe age, maybe it got sick but I cried for it. BUT the next day I saw another tail so it's relative has taken up the fight. Got roaches, flies, fruit flies, moths, get a lizard!

Plus, with our usual camo and excellent jaw strength we have no problem defending ourselves. If we fail some of us still have our self amputating tails. Our only predators are birds and a few snake builds. Still, I’m happy to be listed as a descent C tier.
