Why is a comedian a better political interviewer than national news pundits?
My guess is that there's a level of real talk that they can bring to the table that would be seen as traditionally 'unprofessional'. But I think some journalists and pundits are finally noticing and borrowing similar tactics.

watching hasan talk like a normal human to these political mannequins is really surreal
It's hard to get a real, genuine response from these politicians because they know that every word they say will be used as a sound byte if it's even remotely controversial. Trudeau is one of the good ones, he actually breaks the act a few times and is genuine with Hasan, even if his decisions are not quite in line with his act I still give him respect for actually engaging with Hasan and trying to answer his questions without setting fire to his agenda or his party. Whether or not his agenda is 100% in line with what we believe to be best is a different story, but at least he sticks to his guns unlike the Cheeto Mussolini we have in the Oval.

I didn't understand the scandal because I didn't try to. Someone else Trumped it with some bullshit or other.
But how does that improve the situation? I'm voting Green in this election and I know that Trudeau will most likely win again with a Green-NDP-Liberal coalition, so I want to think this is somehow a good thing, but I don't understand how it is. Just an FYI: we do indeed produce far less CO2 than the USA does, but we are one of the top five polluters per capita, which is just appalling. We are spoiled by all our land and resources.

@@elithompson4167 Freedom of speech applies to a lot of things but certain things can harm the morale of people etc. When you speak to a Prime Minister, you could literally affect an entire nation with just a few words that could turn ugly. Some Prime Ministers even have had to intentionally hide things during interviews because they simply couldn't be allowed into the public view. Essentially what we are saying is that the reason it is controlled is to avoid adverse effects.

Mainstream news is all about parroting whatever spokespersons of government institutions say, regardless of whether it is true or not. There are very few investigative and fact-checking news sites.
Local news tends to be good, but local news rarely covers federal matters. As for why comedic coverage is good - it's a low tolerance for bullshit.

One of the things I love about this show is Hasan's interviews. He's a great interviewer that doesn't hold back and manages to ask difficult questions directly and respectfully. That's one of the things I lament the most about the loss of this show, I'd love to seem him get even better at it and talk to even more people.

The conservatives are worse (see my above list or google it yourself), but don't forget there is another option to Trudeau and the Liberals and that's the NDP. The media never talks about them but if you want what Trudeau promised to do and never did. The NDP is your party. The Liberals are corporate democrats, they believe you can be fiscally conservative and socially progressive. But you can't, those two things are contradictory.

climate change is #1 when i'm tryna vote - i have been an adult for two elections (both times Trudeau was the liberal party leader), he was never a good option in my opinion. Hasan really nails the issue here - the liberals say a lot of stuff you want to hear, but if you really dive into actual numbers and policies, its obvious they don't care about the climate. Only NDP and Green have provided climate plans that seem okay. And yeah its kinda cool that Canada has painted a nice image for itself in terms of its treatment of minorities - unfortunately this is not true either. Our indigenous people are subject to more discrimination than black people in america (there are incarceration/ unemployment etc. stats for ppl belonging to these groups that prove this). Indigenous women are murdered at a rate so high that some are defining this as genocide. IDK what the fuck that religious symbols ban was. Quebec is different. And I say this with a lot of love for Quebec but that ban is ridiculous. But you know what else is ridiculous? How low their carbon emission is. Quebec ban have a part with history cause the Catholic Church was basically running Quebec until the 1960. Than Quebec became a laic government and a lot of people rejected the Catholic Church.
