Everyone who hosts this says that it is the toughest room they've ever played. It is a group of people who are used to keeping their personal reactions in check. For that room, he was getting a strong reaction. He did a really good job.
Because corporate media has been telling everyone to be scared of the brown people they terrorize, bomb and massacre by the millions, but now a brown person is shining the spotlight back on them. Of course it's uncomfortable to be faced by their crimes.

It's so weird to hear Hasan mispronounce his own name because this was before he felt that people would care enough to pronounce his name correctly :(
He was speaking from second person's POV
He was speaking from their point of view when he joked that in a “few weeks” his name will be a code used to label Muslims. When he said “My name is Hasan Minhaj”, that was his own introduction of himself.
No one is perfect but I totally get ur point. Since then he’s even talked about the correct pronunciation of his name on Ellen!
"Only in America, can a first generation Indian American Muslim kid get on this stage, and make fun of the President!" By far the best line in his entire speech. Real heart warmer, considering I fit every word in that description perfectly.
That`s like saying only the US got freedom and democracy. There many countrys where that would be possible. He did a great job anyways, but that was some "murica fck yeah" stuff.

He's at a White House Correspondence Dinner and I don't think he needs to be held to a global standard when he is trying to give a message of hope to the US. If he needed to pander to some American ideal to get his point across, let him.

He has such an expressive face, natural way of speaking, and just high energy, which helps him, unlike MIchelle Wolf's rather unpleasant voice. I mean his way of speaking and his energy helped make people like him. He is also the funniest of these WHCD things I have ever seen.
i know i’m very late but the best part of the correspondent’s dinner is watching the dead crowd (all the people who aren’t allowed to laugh trying not to laugh)

Ivo Koster he's not only hilarious but also impartial. He didn't shy away from criticizing everyone left and right. From all Jon Stewart children he's the only one who kept his neutrality and he's doing a great job now with his Patriot Act.
This guy dominated! He was able to keep his emotions and reactions in complete check. Not an easy feat.

Late reply but a lot of the reason is because events like this do not have great setups for recording the audience, if any, like a stand up show does.
