I love how the hawk kept looking around thinking "this is too easy, must be a set up. " Lol
I literally thought the EXACT same thing hahaha
Elmer Fudd says "Daerrs smthun squewee hearwah"
"Damn humans just made my entire build redundant."
That was one suspicious hawk..
You should add these phrases to your list:" Freedom to Tibet", "Taiwan is a great country", "Liberty to Hong Kong"..
🖕China
Free the Uyghurs!
Also try "Where is Peng Shuai?"
He already used Tibet.
recent key word where is peng shi
The only change it needs, is to have a recessed "bait cup" so that the mice don't wipe off the bait when they slide in. If it's recessed in a cup, the bait stays on indefinitely. Install on a taller 7+ gallon bucket to hold more mice.
The scent is still there
I wonder if the bait could just be put on the under side?
@@recklessroges if it's sticky it'll cause the ramp to stick to the bucket.
Have a bait hook coming from the other side of the bucket with the bait just past the end of the ‘plank’. The bait hook would be made from steel wire with a freely rotating tube around it to stop the mice climbing on it.
@@Frankybroadcast 😆no it wont
That isn't smoke, its steam. Steam from the steamed buns we're having. Mmmm steamed buns!
Yummy! They make me feel like winnie the pooh after I eat them
Lol
I ate ten.
Glad to see the red tail hawk feeding so well. It's a beautiful animal. Those stamps had me rolling with laughter. An excellent move, Shawn.
what did they say?
@@hubbcap18 Those were anti Chinese video copycat
@@hubbcap18 "Baozi Xi Jinping"
This "Steamed Bun" idea is very clever! If someone publishes that in China, they, apparently, could go to jail... just don't accept invitations from there, then.
That's why he does it, still pretty easy to censor though.
"Winnie-the-Pooh" watermarks also drive the Tyrant of Beijing up the wall as well.
Why is this phrase/Kanji banned?
@@Zibarian “Baozi” or “Steamed Bun” has been Xi Jinping's nickname online since his surprise visit to a Beijing chain restaurant in December 2013, in which he ordered buns, causing a flurry of state media coverage that many netizens felt overstated the significance of buns in Chinese cuisine. The nickname Baozi also has a negative connotation as the expression “Tubaozi” means “country bumpkin” in Chinese.
@@Zibarian Apparently, it is a hidden reference to the president of China. Sort of dog whistle in Chinese.
Your pet mice have such shiny, sleek coats; in between trap tests, they are clearly riding the gravy train on biscuit wheels!
The genius of this design is really the magnet I think. It means that there's no feeling of instability and the mouse has confidence to continue moving along the plank. The actual moment of imbalance is so brief that they can't usually react (though I've noticed one or two clinging to the plank for a few seconds before they slide off). It's so clever!
thank matthias wandel, he invented it in 2016
@@natalieisagirlnow I'm pretty sure I have seen magnetic ones before that.
Shawn I bought one of these when You showed it in 2017. It is still working very well when needed. I also purchased one of Your ‘Mousetrap Monday’ T Shirts when You put them for sale. I have really enjoyed watching Your channel and was so happy when You had the 1 M Subscribers video. Keep up the the good work. 🤠
I just built my own design and placed it on my cold attic with engine coolant so it stays liquid through the winter... Will see how many I'll have caught by spring... xD so far it's like 10 voles.
@@Tsuchimursu I did the same with my travel trailer that I have stationary in Wisc.
He should pin this comment
I couldn't help but laugh when the packrat's just chilling on top of the bucket and when the mouse dunked itself, looks right into the camera like "Did I do that?" LOL
I'm glad you explain the meaning behind the Chinese writing found through out the video.
Glad it's working too!
I think its there so China knock offs don't use the video to advertise their product. It's like a watermark.
Was just going to ask about that.
On that is so clever.
it was almost like saying Xi Jin Ping the Pooh, but saying he's idiot. Which will end you banned or fined or jailed in China if you shared the video and got reported
Bravo on your trick to prevent theft of your video!!!!! I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me as I saw the faint Chinese characters flash by. HAHA. You're absolutely brilliant. Oh and I love your videos too. 👍👍👍
Yeah. I was wondering why those Chinese characters kept popping up whenever a mouse fell in the bucket! Very creative.
The Winnie the Pooh trick 😀
This was GENIUS! I saw the characters and google translated it and it took me a minute, but hilarious!
Just curious, how do the random Chinese letters prevent theft???
What do they mean?
That pack rat was ginormous!
You could always send all those live wild mice to youtube headquarters.
The most interesting part of this video is, why is "steamed bun" a phrase banned in China?
Did a quick Google search, it's an insult to Chairman Mao.
I love Winnie Pooh
@@022107 Oh, the poor dead diddums. lol!

China? Oh, you mean Western Taiwan. 中国?哦,你说的是台湾西部。
The 2nd smaller trap was like getting blue balls. I was expecting to see so many mice!! Then nothing...
I appreciate your knowledge of native species and non-native species. I think that's valuable. And I appreciate your thoughtfulness towards the mice themselves and the animals you feed them too.
KZhead is out of their minds. That they're upset because the bucket had water in it is LUDICROUS.
Amazing to watch these perfectly trained pet mice, how well they are performing their stunts. Really, a very professional staff on this channel!
they are highly-paid, too.............. and live in a mansion...........
Good attempt...
Certainly one was a good eater, he needed to go to Jenny Craig!
"INCONCIEVABLE!" 10 years on KZhead with a 'Mouse Trap' channel and you still have all the mice in the world living in your garage.
He has to be releasing the females. No way he has that many mice on his property.
@@spacefren3826 mice breed like crazy, especially house mice.
Let's just keep it a secret between his viewers and his channel. No channel when the secret is out.
I was so confused when those characters kept appearing on screen, thank you for taking time to explain it
steamed buns? i thought we were having steamed hams?
This proves conclusively that, contrary to Walt Disney would’ve had us believe, mice can’t talk…
You should name one of your pet mice "Winnie the Poo" and mention it in every video. Xi Jinping does not like to be reminded he looks like the Poo.
Then he will be in troubles with Disney
@@cesarsantis5116 Willie the Poo then
@@cesarsantis5116 I didn't think about Emperor PalpaKathleen.

Two questions: 1: What would your barns/outbuildings look like if you weren't constantly culling the population? 2: The hantavirus is rare in Oregon, but do you take any precautions to protect yourself given how frequent your potential exposure?
Have an original WTP trap in the garage. Up to 37 in the garage this winter. Agree with your assessment, one of the best.
Lowe’s user rating is low😮
This is a rather enjoyable video! It's gratifying to see someone able to efficiently catch varmint mice.
All of a sudden you are coming up on my feed again. Good to see you again!
I love the forbidden Chinese words. I imagine some would be content thief watching and suddenly freaking out when steamed bun pops up, thinking he’s about to be dragged off to some gulag for his internet history.
love how the pack rat was like 'hold up, is that a camera? well, I'ma head out...' lol
Like "Hell no, this is a trap, fk this!" 😂
A workaround for killing the mice in water would be having only an inch of water with some cooking oil in the bucket. The water will wet the fur of the mice causing them to be too heavy to jump out. The oil should cause slippage when they try climbing out. They should still be alive [but wet] in the morning. FYI - I'm getting one of the small ones. I want to use it outside. I'm going to cut the hole in the bucket right at the top and put a lid on it. I will put the bait in the center of the bottom side of the lid so they will see and smell the peanut butter but never be able to reach it.
He's used about an inch of oil in the past in some videos for this specific purpose. I wonder if KZhead punished him for that too.
Shawn already did a video involving a cooking/peanut oil trap. Worth a watch.
@@ragnarocking that video is still up thankfully. I can’t believe that so much of this man’s hard work has been deleted from KZhead due to their ever revolving policy’s. It’s pitiful that people hate on him so much for being a way better person than they are. Tbh it pisses me off even tho it has zero to do with me
We had a complete enclosed plastic version of a trapdoor trap (water optional) back in 1980's - cheese or other bait at end of tunnel with a trapdoor , after a ladder into a rectangular plastic catcher
Your barn seems to have a lot of mice running about looking for a feed! Reminds me of the bad mouse plague we endured in South-Western Qeensland Australia this time last year. The roads had mice running all over them. It was absolutely horrible & devastating for farmers! Locals used the bucket system where an old whiskey bottle or glass bottle sat on a chair horizontally, with half the bottle & neck sitting out over bucket. Bucket sits just out from the base of chair. I think some oil was rubbed alomg the neck & peanut butter at the very end of the neck... as mouseys run along bottle, they slip on the oil & fall into tall bucket.
i started watching your videos for help with mice but now i just really like you and your videos lol
This definitely works with elephants, too, but "You're gonna need a bigger bucket..." 😁
We are seeing more and more of these cool inventions when are we going to see larger versions implemented in cities that have issues like NYC and I've seen Australia too.
KZhead still lets you use the word 'water'???
Awesome video, thank you for sharing!
Another great video Shawn. Thanks so much.
I was losing my mind keep seeing 包子 on my screen. Thank you for explaining!
The rats are terrifying…..
You should totally print a "Winnie the Pooh Xi Jinping" sticker on the buckets. That way you don't need to worry about the watermarks! Still an ingenious idea to put on the videos regardless!
8:15 LOL I like how that mice is so dumb it just falls on its own without the trap.
Great video!! Educational and interesting as always
With all the mousetraps you now have, you could probably start up a museum.
I'm surprised that the mice were able to jump out more easily with the bucket with the lid.
I like just having the water in bucket covered with sunflower seeds floating on top with no plank to walk, the look of surprise on the mice faces as they go thru the seeds is even more precious.
DC needs a big politician-sized one of these.
Credit where credit is due: Matthias Wandel built this back in 2015 and gave detailed build instructions.
That guy is awesome!
facts
I just can't believe how often his name comes up on very different videos and forums. Wooden gears, sirens, mousetraps, woodworking. The internet is huge, but his name keeps coming up.
I wonder what is or why does it show a Chinese message whenever the little mice fall
If you watched all of the video he explains why at 10:45
So the Chinese don’t steal the video claiming it’s their traps for sale.
Also wondering why "steamed bun" is a banned phrase in China.
@@dkgong I was thinking the same.
@@dkgong Apparently it's a nickname their Glorious Leader Xi Jinping doesn't appreciate. You know you're doing government good when you throw people in prison for two years for calling you a name you don't like.

Thank you Shawn. Nice trap.
I would buy one of each of those. They seem to do well.
Noone puts more time and effort into their videos than Shawn Woods. Thank you for your dedication. Would love to see more of your primitive videos brother.🙏
He did that is because he is getting 20k usd a month from these videos. Its his job.
That hawk must feel like me at Texas Roadhouse with the buns.
I bought a similar product, it is a ramp attacked to a full lid with an area you put the food and then they flip into the bucket. So far not once mouse has been caught, but there are still mice in the house. I am using other methods as well, including the baking soda method. Other traditional spring traps I have had mixed results, and the electric shock trap hasn't caught one mouse either (I think the hole is much too small and the food tray is not the best (should be larger), I should have bought the electric shock rat trap instead, some of the mice are very large.
That Red-tailed hawk is very similar to the Common buzzard we have here in the UK.
Great to see the hawk get a feast. So the internal one works better with water in the bucket
i cant with how one of them just jumped into the trap itself
I wish I knew the balance point/ dimensions. Thinking of trying to make some myself. Seems like a fun little project
Fantastic Shawn! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️🔥
Shawn! Long time no see. KZhead stopped recommending your content. Finally caught on and am back. Hope you and your family are and remain well.
LOL I noticed the anti video-theft water mark. This is smart. FYI today is the Lunar New Year. I think this make the perfect Lunar New Year Present HAHA.
a little suggestion, for the bucket too small, you could use a cône they will fall in but cant jump back ;)
Now, That's a great idea!!!
it's more practical to use it as a drowning trap
@@patmitskey839 Thank you for your positive comment ;) I expected a comment like "it's more practical to use it as a drowning trap" . Yours is much more appreciated.
@@redgiredgi a cone is a ramp. if the hole is at the bottom, they walk up the ramp. if you put the trap door in the funnel, you don't need the diving board or cover. your idea is irrelevant with this trap
@@natalieisagirlnowI see the cone like a slide, they will not be able to climb back out. They also will not jump on it because of the slope , so we still need the diving board. Its just an idea, its ok if you don't like this. I see it like a live trap or just to help Shawn to keep his catch's.
A bucket with bran flakes (chicken fodder) floating on six inches of water works a treat, and you only need a ramp, no 'trap'.
I was at Golden Panda Buffet this weekend. You should have seen the look they gave me when I ordered the "steamed bun."
LOL
Love your vids dude
I love your videos have watched for awhile! I have to buy one of these now; because my cats are getting old...
That thunk sound is so satisfying. ,;-)
Nothing beats the bucket of water and seeds
Have you come across something similar for meadow voles? A repeating type trap that does not depend upon trapping them at their entry/exit holes?
Odd that it's one of your favs. We bought two on your advice. We caught one tiny mouse and when I went back later, it had escaped the 5 gallon bucket. I've caught more with old-fashioned snap traps.
apparently you did not use it correctly. Either use a taller bucket, or put water in it. And use better bait.
Extremely entertaining!!!
that hawk "seriously? this has to be a trap"
KZhead finally put one of your videos in my feed! Only been like almost a year
That pack rat “oh boy that was close”
Haha.. Thought the same. A pack rat is in the imperial fighter class for rodents.
Another well made video, friend.
A layer of used deep-fry oil on the water makes a good scent lure. Just a little, 1/4" floating on top.
Me: Go to the gym three times a week to get well trained shoulders. Shawn’s packrats: Hold our peanut butter.
I was wondering what those characters were. Very slick idea. Maybe a watermark of winnie the poo would also ensure they couldn't be viewed in china. :)
Sick contraption
We used to catch mice using this trap in a 55-gallon barrel. No escapees, no parole, lol.
Wow. What an injustice!!!
Bring on the stunt mice! 😃
Little stuffed bun, eh? Well...there ya go. I could have a mouse stuffed bun if I were "hangry" enough.
"Unfortunately these are an invasive species and I cannot let them go". Brilliant, I may borrow that statement next time someone tries to make me feel bad about killing mice in my greenhouse. AND, it's the truth ! Not so common nowadays.
The one that got away was huge ...have to catch it for sure
While you were catching the wild mice, it looked as if there was a video display on the trap, which lit up with some Chinese characters (which I can't read) every time it caught a mouse.
I remember the old vids
Winnie the Pooh eats Steamed Buns in West Taiwan!
小熊维尼 has no sense of humor.
9:41 Bird lookin round like he expecting another predator to show up and finish what he started. surely this pile of delicious mouse meat didn't magically appear. Is this a plank? yes.
Curious, what are the hieroglyphs that appear as a flash overlay at the 4:54 mark?
Good work Crawdaddy.
9:31 trash panda like "Nah, lookin' for trash."
What did you use for the bait? And did you superglue it on? Great stuff
PTSD alert for the pet mice. ;-)
Watching him handle the mice grossed me out, I wasnt ready!
number 2 mouse was suspicious😂
I feel like the more surefire censor is a simple 6.4.89, definitely more bannable than a simple steamed bun even though it does refer to XJP.
