Officially the craziest thing Coyote Peterson’s ever done: stick his arm into a box of 200 angry Yellowjackets.
“Hey Coyote, will they still be angry at you if you stick your arm in the box after 15 minutes?”
Yeah Coyote. Yeah they will.
If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if you stuck your arm in a Yellowjacket nest,... here’s your answer! You’re welcome.
Honestly, how much do you think this man’s insurance plan costs? It’s downright ridiculous.
Anyway… Coyote vs 200 YellowJackets. Guess what happens.
IMPORTANT: Risk of allergic reaction or anaphylaxis is possible after receiving a sting from any stinging insect. Call 911 or other emergency services if you're having a serious reaction to an insect sting. Do not try this at home.

I got swarmed by wasps around age 8-9, and it was incredibly traumatic. It's been over 20 years now and I still vividly remember how it felt. My dad and my sister were swarmep at the same time, and after escaping them, my dad had to try and get any off of us that were stuck in our clothes, then find the nearest chemist to get antihistamine for us ASAP. The headache, the nausea, the tachycardia, the swelling and burning, and getting these twinges of electric shocks at every sting. My whole body would spasm randomly for hours, then it would itch but your couldn't scratch it because it was like stinging yourself. -10/10 would never recommend
My dad disturbed a nest at work. It nearly killed him. He had to wear an epi pen on his hip for 2 years. Disturb a nest ? Wtf you think is gonna happen?
@@paulwalsh6734 The nest we disturbed was pretty much invisible inside an embankment. Basically my sister hit a fern out of the way with a stick like if she was sweeping the path, and the vibration was somehow just enough to disturb them. It was in the late autumn when they were in hibernation, so there wasn't any flying around back and forth to indicate a nest at all. My sister was terrified of wasps after getting swarmed at around 18 months old after being left unattended by our mother, and had been told that getting stung again had a high chance of triggering anaphylaxis, so she had grown up petrified of them. If she'd seen even one, she wouldn't have even walked on that path, she'd have had a meltdown and refused to go. I think the fact they were still so drowsy is the only reason the injuries weren't worse. Some even fell asleep in the wrinkles of our clothes, and many didn't manage to give a full venom dose. It's like if it was mid summer, we'd probably have been screwed, but it also probably wouldn't have happened at all because we'd have known about the nest because of active wasps
@@paulwalsh6734 Bro did you even watch the first minute of the video? You can just step on the buggers without knowing.

Wasps in general get a bad reputation just for these guys! They're more aggressive in late summer/early fall because food gets scarcer. Wasps really aren't that bad, folks! They just like their space and, unlike bees, can sting multiple times. (Believe me, if bees didnt die after just one, theyd sting as often as wasps!) Edit to add, it doesn't help their nests are underground and impossible to see unless you catch a glimpse of the ones outside.
@@JuliusCaesar2005yellow jackets especially are just extremely curious creatures. They want to know what you have, what you are wearing, etc at all times. I used to hang out outside the cafeteria at my college, where they had massive wasp issues. I say "issues", but those guys buzzed around me all day without the slightest intention on stinging me. Mostly they preyed on the abundant fly population. Then one day I got it in my head to go and sit on a bench around the corner of the building. A single yellowjacket calmly, premeditatively, landed on my bare knee, and stung it. Far as I know, I had had no previous interation with this animal, but in retrospect I realize that I must have inadvertantly gotten to close to her nest for comfort. Lesson learned: stick to where the bugs ain't bothered by you.
They are aggressive and very dangerous especially to a pet or a kid. Best way to deal with them is when you see a ground nest wait till night and pour gasoline down the hole then light it up.

Actually each bee sting increases the chance of an allergic reaction
@@DirtyDanAvidan Good to know they stimulate the reaction rather than decrease. Thank you!
@@tch1724 the reason why is pretty interesting, actually. When taking a sting, your body attempts to neutralize the proteins in the venom and slow its progress through your body (hence why its important to stay calm after a venomous sting or bite). Now your body attempts to remove these proteins (histamines) by creating antihistamines (what normally causes you to sneeze, cough, and make you get stuffy). However, your body can go overboard and cause your throat to close, and send you into anaphylactic shock.
@@CasualAatroxEnjoyer isn't it the other way around histamines promote coagulation / swelling and antihistamines reduce it.

And then someone releases the outtakes
Tips: If you are in a wooded area and disturb a yellow jacket nest, you may be able to shorten the chase distance by ducking through foliage. In my experience, they chase farther over open ground, but not as far through dense foliage. The other side of that coin is that you are more likely to encounter another nest in a wooded area than on a trail or road. If you are on a trail, fail forward - run in the direction you were going anyway, otherwise you'll have to wait a long time for the nest to calm down, and any pheromones you got on you may only antagonize them faster. It also helps to be near the front when hiking in a group. Whatever is lurking on the side of the trail is more likely to strike or sting after a few people have passed unmolested. Finally, I'm not sure if this holds for yellow jacket venom, but bee stings are a cure for some kinds of arthritis. I think Coyote may be able to check arthritis off of his list of worries.
We need Coyote and Houston Jones to do these together.

Can we just appreciate that Coyote does this for educational purposes and have the strength to do this kinda stuff. We love you Coyote.
Yeah he doesn't do anything for the views and the money that comes along with, no. It's all for purely educational reasons
My dad was weed eating in his field and stumbled across a nest. Idk how he did it but he remained calm and walked normally to a pond nearby and walked right in the water and submerged himself. Got rid of most of them. There’s no telling how many stings he endured but he was sick for days. Still impressed he was so calm in his actions while he was being stabbed a thousand times all over his body. Always knew my dad was a man of steel 😍
That’s a tough man.
A neighbor down the road from us was mowing and ran over a nest. Didn't know he was allergic to them. Ended up in the hospital for a few days. Thankfully he was alright tho
Your dad is a fool. Why did he walk to the pond? So he could get a hundred extra stings??
It would be smarter to run tho. Way less stings
You are SO BRAVE ❤😂
As soon as I saw the box of yellow jackets, I was like "Why? Why do this?" lol
This guy has to be the bravest soul on earth.
he became her!
Agreed
Crazy brave 💀
He’s like Steve-o but with science
Он просто - долбойобушко!!!)))
"Blame the algorithm" That's one hell of a one liner
“So the moment i put my hand in the box i knew i messed up” I mean. Same lol
I work in pest control and one of the most annoying things to deal with is definitely yellow jackets. i don't think that I have ever successfully eradicated a nest without taking at least a half dozen stings
So basically you get stung for a living? Hope the pay is good lol
Isn't there some kinda protective suit that can prevent that? 🤔
They definitely seem more wiley than other similiar insects.
@@4dojo they almost always get through them anyways. And at a certain point you just toughen up and don't care quite as much.
@@insatiablefondu4587 Dang. That's a job I will leave to someone else. 😅
One thing thats crazy about yellow jackets, it doesnt seem to take much for them to sting. You see a lot of insects and animals hesitant on this channel but yellow jackets dont mess around its a swarm and lots of stings
I was swarmed by yellow jackets in July of 1981 while prepping a bivouac sight for troop training. I can only remember the first few stings before the training officer ran in to pull me out of that situation which saved me. He was so brave and I am so grateful to him.
Coyote continues to be a trooper for this kind of content.
Coyote and the camera man hossing it after he's been stung loads while techno music is playing was the highlight.
I like how the man has been stung by so many things, yet even something as simple as yellow jackets will mess you up
They're amazing little feats of nature very effective
Different feeling when you get stung a hundred times in the space of 30 seconds
yeah 200 of them
The no hard feelings where he puts one of the wasps on his hand got me laughing so hard 🤣
It's hard to believe I've watched for almost 10 years. Love this channel, hope my near 2 year old son gets the chance to love it as well.
Any swelling in mouth/throat? Liver/spleen tenderness? Heartrate that night? Breathing? Thirsty/hungry?
I was 5 and stumbled upon an entire nest. My mom was across the yard mowing the lawn with ear protection on and still heard my screams. They’re no joke.
Oh my that didn’t sound good. Were you stung or they scare you that was the reason for screaming?
I would of punched you in the face
Coyote is like the Steve-o of the nerd community
He should collab with Steve o 💀
Nerd community?
Oh my God 😂😂 I can't unsee this

That seemed like it had to be more than 10 seconds, especially with the struggle of getting the lid back on, as well as him waiting to decide when to take the hand out. That had ti be at least 30 seconds
I love how wholesome Coyote is. He so happy, even when being chased by a swarm of yellow jackets
I went 22 years never being stung by any kind of bee until this summer. I got my first job in conservation out of college and that meant working outside in the middle of the woods everyday. Got stung by a yellow jacket on 2 separate occasions and both times I had to go to urgent care due to insane pain & swelling, those things are no joke 😢
I went 25 yrs without being stung by bees, wasps, hornets, until early May of this year. I took a job as a tree trimmer one tree we pruned had the biggest wasp nest I ever seen on a branch I had cut and grabbed, got stung 18 different times.
Yo de chico era el destructor de panales de avispas, hasta q un dia dije ya no más. El dolor de la picadura todavia lo recuerdo por eso he evitado cualquier contacto con esos bichos
I went 18 years without getting stung by any flying insect, until I went on a school hiking trip and walked straight into a beehive hidden under a low branch. Got hit four times on the back, and half my class saw it happen. 😅 Fortunately, the bees were just Asian honeybees so it wasn’t that bad. The four stings together hurt about as much as a intramuscular tetanus shot.
I went 32 years without being stung, then one day while walking my dog I felt sharp pain on my foot. It was a very uncomfortable and burning sensation. I knew right then and there it was a wasp.
I think my streak is about 3 years of not being stung now, but the last one sucked, it wasn’t a Yellow Jacket, thank god, but it was a Mud Dauber, living in FL makes it pretty difficult to not at least run across a nest of wasps but I was doing a job for an old lady one day where i was cleaning out some old outdoor kennels of hers, and out of nowhere a Mud Dauber flew up and stung me square in my FACE. Thankfully, the pain was very tolerable and was just annoying to me but the swelling sucked the most. I live in the woods now where there are plenty of Flying Insects around to sting you but i’ve managed to avoid angering them to the point of a sting.
I remember a couple months ago when mowing my neighbors lawn, and I got attacked by them yellow jackets. They got my ankle area. I got stung about 5 times and the pain was so horrible that it lasted a few days. I couldn’t imagine doing something like this. Their sting is a immediate burning shock feeling
the end, " I need ice cream" Had me dying
This dude just doesn't stop!
