Between 2011 and 2016 when the tennis field was at its absolute strongest, filled with peak Murray, peak Wawrinka, peak Del Potro, peak Nadal (until 2013), near-peak Federer (until 2012), Djokovic dominated the era. Yes, he may be benefitting from a relatively weak era in current times, but he is also way past his prime now. His achievements during his prime are too phenomenal to ignore and this should be enough to cement his status as one of the greatest athletes of all time, although maybe not THE greatest

Respects his own team and invariably compliments the accomplishments of others. Despite being not supported by fans he is not petulant toward them except for occasional mild criticism. His play is superb. Fighting spirit second to Nadal. Shot making ability next to Roger's. Consistency next to Medvedev's. Fitness beyond all others. Yes he does break his own racquets. He is not perfect. Compared to where he started as someone who claimed to need lot of medical attention, tanking matches, etc. way early in his career, he has matured into a fine human being and a great champion whose accomplishments have surpassed those of Roger's and Nadal's. And in my opinion he is worthy of the mantle of being the king of tennis. I would now be willing to see him play tennis as I would have Roger and Nadal in their heydays.
This guy is a LEGEND. That is the best word to describe him.

I am subscribed to TSN and I notice there will often be some technical difficulties in Novak's matches. They must really hate the fact he has surpassed all of their tennis idols, but their tears taste so sweet to us die hard Nole fans. What a summer it was for Serbia. First Nikola Jokic winning the NBA title and then Djokovic winning Slams #23 and #24 (dedicated to Novak's friend Kobe Bryant). Amazing unforgettable year!
