Or maybe he wasn't joking when he said he was fighting at 30%, considering he was hurt in the Meek fight not to mention other injuries he had at the time like his knees. Yes his striking is better, but I also think he is taking more risk which is both good and bad, people would complain if he got ko,d saying he should have stuck to what he does best and he probably wouldn't get a title shot any time soon. Biggest highlight of Usman's career thus far. KO'ing Jorge Masvidal is no small feat, its on a par with submitting Nate Diaz if not bigger.
You could see usman getting a bit emotional/angry in the first round. He went back to the corner and then came out in the 2nd throwing his jab and keeping his punches straight and tight. He was ducking and swinging crazy in round 1. I was like come on usman start jabbin quit slangin. That Trevor Whitman 10,000 IQ corner advice bro he is so valuable.
Usman seems to be a slow starter. Once he gets a feel for his opponents and receives corner advice he really turns it on and gets into his rhythm.
I noticed it too, that he seemed to pursue a little too much after a few tags and compromised his own positioning. But yeah he seemed to get calmed down in the cornwr

@@bobsag1164 According to Dustin Poirier who is a fellow training partner at ATT (and who seems honest and credible), Jorge was training hard for months to prepare in the event he was ever matched up with Kamaru Usman (which he eventually did) so its not like he was getting up off the couch. He also earnt his title shot with three rather spectacular finishes so it only makes sense Jorge was training to prepare for the biggest fight of his life. I think the real story here is that Usman only had 6 days to prepare for Jorge, who is a completely different opponent to Gilbert Burns.

That was one of the most technically beautiful punches I have ever seen. That follow through was incredible. There was no doubt or fear when he threw it. While Masvidal was wasting focus and energy showboating and taunting, The Snoozeman was planning perfection. Hats off to the champion, a masterful display of skill.

I watched this live and I have to say, one of the greatest moments of my life. Hated seeing all the hate Usman got. Even tho just like everyone else we wanted Masvidal to win, but seeing Usman finally get his respect is satisfying. Jorge was way too confident, and worried about the wrestling. Once I saw simple jabs landing on Masvidal I knew he was too focused on the takedowns.
Same here. Wasn't the biggest Usman fan, but the constant hate against him made me root for him
I agree mate, great Performance by the champ. but i wouldnt say usman got much hate but to less respect. His last 2 fights were fire. But his road to champ was just boring as hell. Thats why i really aprecciate his improvements

I just think he is corny and when he says shit like "I was there to remind Francis that it's okay, it's okay to be great. Because coming from where we come from" blah blah trying to sound like him and Francis went through the same hardships. It just doesn't help how I persinally view him. However I have always respected him as a fighter and don't think he is a "bad" person or anything. I just think he seems fake with how he presents himself.

I love wonderboy and would love for him to get a shot but im scared for him against usman, wrestling aside, from watching WB's fights with his style he has always been bad about getting clipped with jabs as he slides in, normally it's no biggie but usman has a hell of a jab and I think he will clip him everytime he tries to come in with his hands, WB does have those kicks though but idk

If he can get past Burns, he might get his shot again, who knows? Getting pass Burns is not an easy task for him though, and I'm a Wonderboy fan.
