You know you normally do the review as soon as possible but this one, you don't know what to say do it. weight is the determinant factor about this this fight simple as that.

I wanted Jan to win because his story is amazing and because if Izzy lost he would still be a dominate middleweight. I also was rooting for Aljo because he's American and I root for people with the same nationality. He's black and his opponent was white. Why would your root for an athlete of your own race over one of your nationality?

    • @Rainbow Dirt Great so you're comparing LHW fighters to MW fighters, this should be fun ... Rockhold got slept by Jan in his one & only LHW fight, everything else for him was in MW & the same's true of Jacare ... Anderson's no longer in the UFC & had zero chance of making the MW limit, and if he's getting lamped by Jan who's not as agile as Izzy or Rob, what do you think Rob's going to do to him, don't forget Rob doesn't fear the ground like Izzy does, he took on both Yoel & Jacare in their MW primes standing & on the ground. You may not have been around to know that Anderson Silva had several forays into LHW, beating James Irvin, former champ Forrest Griffin & his fellow TUF season 1 finalist Stephan Bonnar, he also stepped in against DC at LHW on short notice for the UFC 200 ppv, and gave DC some troubles on the feet before DC got him down & grinded his way to the UD. Costa only had 3 fights in the UFC before fighting Izzy, and proved with that fight that he's simply not on the MW elite level yet (yeah yeah he was 10-0 coming into the UFC, but if people get to dismiss Khabib's 15-0 pre-UFC record, then Costa's means even less imo). Jimi Manuwa got dropped & stopped by a lot of guys that weren't even on a prime Anderson Silva's striking level (the version of Anderson in recent years is so far from when he was owning the MW division that it's basically two different fighters). That's where I'll leave this comment

It was more of a point scoring chess match, props to Jan though. Jan walks around much heavier than Izzy out of the octagon regardless of Izzy's walking weight. Also there's plenty of guys that walk around heavier or same weight as Izzy in the middle weight division (he's just taller, but that's not his fault). Height and reach advantage means nothing if you don't have the fight IQ to use it (which he does well). Even Teddy Atlas talks about how well he does this. If he can make 185 comfortably and be at the top I don't see what's the issue, good on him. People hate on Izzy for that but celebrate Khabib, who is normally quite big for lightweight. • @Maurice Gay My man, you need to understand what was said by other people and remember better. Jan did attempt a submission in the 2nd round with a standing RNC. The commentary was biased for Adesanya, very badly so. The 10-8 round is a stretch, but I do agree that Jan won 4 out of 5 rounds and I agree that the fight might have been 10-15 seconds away from being stopped in the fifth. Also, OP said it was interesting to see Izzy get caught so many times, not how much damage Jan did to Izzy. Jan caught Izzy with jabs all day, sometimes 2-3 in a row. It was with the ends of Jan's punches that touched Izzy, hence why he might have not put visible damage on Izzy. This implies that Izzy struggles with range when fighting a man with similar reach to him. The range he holds with middleweights to slip punches suddenly was getting him tagged, as he always has a significant reach advantage on the middleweights thus far. This is what OP is saying. You replied to my first comment that Izzy is no scrub and he can bang, but I never questioned that in my comment. I just agreed with someone else that Kevin Holland has a good chance to beat Izzy because Holland has the reach advantage. Holland can also grapple well, since he hung in there with Jacare Souza; maybe Holland will attempt to emulate the Jan vs Izzy fight. We will see just how good Holland's striking is as he faces more and more elite competition. I hope Holland will keep winning so we see the Izzy fight.

    • @Maurice Gay Check the comment section of this very video and any other UFC 259 video and you will find a very, very large amount of comments saying that the commentary was pro-Izzy. You are right in Dana saying he thought it was a 3-2 for Jan, but Dana himself in the past has said that the judges are the only people that matter when scoring fights. It is possible Dana has an Izzy bias himself, because he was rapidly becoming a superstar in the UFC. In terms of the 3-2 or 4-1 argument I do think that 4-1 is correct because the numbers say that Blachowicz was busier than Adesanya, and landed more than adesanya each round. Each of the three rounds of standup were close and competitive. The round I feel Adesanya won was actually the third round, because he stunned Blachowicz for a moment with a left hook. Weasle describes it in this video. The debate if the fight was 4-1 Jan or 3-2 Izzy is ultimately a pointless one because the right guy won the fight. Only Izzy nuthuggers thought he won. I do acknowledge the argument that round 5 probably shouldn't have been a 10-8, and the final score should have been 49-46.

His breath was OK but his muscles was sore and out of power and all he could do in 4th and 5th was to start round with jabs and kicks then he was unable to defend takedown. Opposite to Jan who was puffing like a tycoon but his hands and legs had enough power to take Adesanya to the ground and keep him there to the bell. How tired Adesanya was you could see at the end of 5th when he completely had no power to defend himself from the ground and pound ... 30s more of that round and it would be TKO loss.

Jan only lost to Thiago because he was rushing in and got clipped, a fight he was winning, by the way, same goes for when Jan fought Gustafsson, he was winning that fight on the feet to Alexander as well but lost the decision. Jan lost to Thiago in Feb of 2019, over 2 years ago and lost the decision to Gus almost 5 years ago. Jan has gotten so much better, Jones is getting worse.
