    • Don’t go near their nesting areas when they’re raising young. Canada Geese are some of the most brave, loyal, committed lifelong pairings of animals on the planet. They’re beautiful, too. Don’t bother them and they won’t bother you. People, predictably, love to trap, gas, slaughter them en masse for the pettiest HOA type nuisance pretexts. It’s hard to think of a species who wakes up every day and chooses violence toward other species more than humans. Small animals run from the sound and scent of us faster than their usual predators. We’ve wiped most wildlife off the planet. And cage and torture domesticated animals on a staggering scale and to a sickening degree of violence and suffering. So, no, Canada Geese are pretty sweet and harmless actually.

The horned owl kept staring at the eagle until it suddenly decided to lunge right into the eagle's face! Great horned owls are big, but bald eagles are *bigger* so it looked pretty crazy. However, if it were to be a Cooper’s hawk or something that has brighter, distinct plumage (that resembles it away from the great horned owl) then the crows only mob it for a while. Edit: other

    @foreignbirb2579@foreignbirb25792 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah, it usually depends on the circumstances when it comes to Cooper’s hawks. Our neighborhood flock of crows occasionally bickers with juvenile Coopers, though they do have their moments of coexistence. They are also fine with vultures flying around the area (as scavenging b.o.p., vultures don’t have the feet or talons for hunting, so they’re not much of a threat to crows), but with most other raptors, it’s on sight lmao

  • The reason why I searched up this video was because I spotted these owls late last night, and suspiciously close to a colony of crows, which seems completely stupid considering all of the issues facing owls you stated were perfectly destructive. The marshlands near my house are home to dozens of species of bird colonies, varying by season. And of course, during the winter my area has TONS of Canada geese harassing humans and animals alike.

  • I'm fortunate enough here in North Texas that I can still hear the Great Horned Owls hooting at night. I've also noticed, while camping in East Texas, that they'll hoot all night, but once dawn approaches, their calls give way to the blue jays, and once the sun is really out, all I hear are crows.

  • I had a friend, who is a goat fancier same as I, lost one of her geese to a great horned owl. She would’ve lost another one, if it wasn’t for her guard dog. She said, that her dog would’ve made short work of a coyote, could stand up to a pack of coyotes, but the horned owl inflicted some damage with its talons on the poor guy. Fortunately, it didn’t want the dog in one of the goose, predators, do not take chances, unless there’s a reward that justifies the chance.

I call it the 'Hank Green' problem, where he starts a new education channel, people sub, and then Hank leaves the channel to start another one and leaves the old one with a new presenter who isnt as good. you guys have done a great job avoiding that issue.

  • Squared-cubed law. More North the Owl lives, plumage surface area increases more in comparison to the volume of the bird itself. The birds volume, or body mass, is relatively the same, but added feathers increase surface area in which convective energy is transferred.
