When you see a shoebill you might think that they look like dinosaurs - and the awesome thing is, they actually are dinosaurs.

Ah, come on. They're cute....in a weird way.
More like menacing and watchful looking. Like a Royal guard. Pissed-looking spells a fidgeting or lively body movements, like trembling in anger. Like maybe Tasmanian devil, or some monkeys
@Jacob Zondag I'm sure they don't think like that. They are happy about the food - they like what they eat. They are happy about their spouse, young ones, agreeable weather. Happy about friends, like this video shows. We might jugde it's pissed, for its looks. Yet it treats the tourists so gently. Animals no more about how to live, understand life better. It's us people who are struggling.

@@chehystpewpur4754 Yes I try to tell people this all the time, animal populations are never acccurate, we simply cannot account for how many there are. @@outsidechambaz i think we intentionally lower the number for more caution in people
@@outsidechambaz thats what they said about the dodo. gone.
My new favorite bird. The fact that they ensure the continuance of the species in ways that humans think is bad, is probably what's prevented their extinction, at the hands of those humans.
I couldn't believe when the shoebill actually flew. I thought it was a grounded bird like an ostrich or cassowary (which is another quite amazing creature). But hopefully that means there might some undiscovered populations of Shoebill nesting on remote islands.

In person they are fairly docile birds. Wild Animal park in san diego (safari park) you can encounter a shoe bill in there hiking trails in the bird area, it literally will walk up to you and you can tell its studying you. Park advises you not to pet it for obvious reasons. but for the most part it doesn't do anything but I would suggest you don't have food with you or anything it might wanna search for.
