    • @@fonziramos2007 if she can inhale scream now, she can learn false chord, inhale scream for a lot of people is the gateway to getting started without wrecking their vocal chords because they haven't learned how to do the false chords and vocal fry in a healthy way yet. It's HARD to figure these things out without a teacher that can coach you properly. For every single person that learns this by themselves, there are 5-10 more that have WRECKED their voices trying to learn it. I'm not even in the music industry and I know 2 chefs in my industry(culinary obvs.) that have absolutely wrecked their vocal chords trying to be metal singers without proper training.

    • @@lauramccoy5262 It's not fast food. You need to improve the palate in order to actually experience it. No one starts listening to metal and goes straight to black death or grind. Usually the beginning is through metal core, alternative, grunge, power, and then the rabit hole begins... Doom, symphonic, gothic, progressive, djent, slam, trash, nu, folk, extreme/tech avant gard, etc etc. Same way for alchoolic beverages. No one can say they have enjoyed beer the first time they have tried it. The fact that people are not willing to enhance their hearing will make them miss out on such great musical experiences.If I had to listen to a melodic death metal song when I began my metal journey 15 years ago I would have despised it would be too much for me to bear. Even today I still struggle in enjoying black metal. Apart from that I can enjoy anything else, especially progressive death metal or melodic technical metal. Such as Opeth, Ne Obliviscaris, Between the Buried and Me.

  • A lot of people dont realize that some metal and most deathcore singers are not necessarily meant to be understood, but that they more or less become an instrument of this metal euophoria that many who understand it find satisfying and enjoy the energy behind it. There is a reason why they call these types of acts vocalists rather than singers... I often find myself feeling a sort of reverse psychology behind the music actually drawing out my frustration and rage rather than emphasizing it like many would expect. Its definitely not the sort of genre to just jump into and expect to respect and understand but its more like a fine wine or a whiskey that you therefore develop your tastes for to really see the flavor amongst the layers.

    @commanderblood2147@commanderblood21472 ай бұрын
    • That's exactly how I feel about it as well. I used to not be a big fan of the harsh vocals and then one day it clicked. Their voice is just another instrument that blends in well with the rest of the instruments playing. It's an epic and excellent feeling to listen to a vocalists lows.

    • I've never understood the attraction to these kind of vocals. I mean, I can get behind it to a certain degree, I am for example a big fan of Sepultura. But that's where I draw the line. More than that, and it starts to sound ridiculous, like a parody of itself. And it's a shame, because I know I'm missing a lot, there are often excellent music in these bands, but when you add on top of that something that sounds like a pig getting slaughtered, I don't feel like taking it seriously.

      @theslay66@theslay662 ай бұрын
    • @@theslay66 I totally get it, i can also understand that perspective. The thing i admire about metal is that its incredibly diverse. I grew up listening to megadeth so i respect thrash metal for sure. I eventually worked my way up to slipnot and eventually wage war and extortionist. Along the way I broadened my tastes with sleep token and currents (both highly recommend). On the far end you have Lorna Shore, Signs of the Swarm, and Suicide silence if you want something more old school style of deathcore. Probably one of the absolute best deathcore songs ive ever heard was "I, the Devourer" by synestia and disembodied tyrant. Maybe you might like some of those groups ive mentioned, i could go on and on 😅. If not, no worries

    • @@commanderblood2147 Thanks you for your suggestions mate, but you know, I'm 50 years old, I heard it all, even listened to some of it when I was young (bands like Cannibal Corpse or Deicide), but came back from it when I realized it wasn't really that interesting to me. Sure, some of them are impressive but... expressivness is in fact quite limited, and overall it sounds flat. There's a good reason some bands started to mix in some clear vocals for variety. Well, that's just my opinion anyway. But like you said, metal is incredibly diverse, and to each his own. Have fun out there, that's the only thing that, in the end, really matters.

  • 2, and 3 aren’t gonna have those voices in three years if they don’t stop inhaling. It’s actually doing the most damage to their vocal folds. There is no healthy way to inhale scream. I know from experience. Just because it sounds good (which in my opinion, eh, doesn’t mean it’s the right way to do it.) Took six years for my voice to heal. Now I only do exhales, and never looked back. I mean yeah the dude was exhaling his highs, but the way his voice cracks while he’s doing it, you can tell there’s a lot of vocal damage there. Might actually be too late for recovery. Not trying to bash on them. Trying to have people read this, and not make those mistakes, Like I did when I was starting.

    • No, this requires years of study so as not to ruin your throat, one of the most important mistakes that are usually made with this technique is the fact that the vocal cords are not used to do that, the ventricular bands are used that is why it is so difficult to sing that, because you have to control something that you have never controlled in your life.

  • Honestly, I find metal, rock, alternative, nu metal, and oldies more enjoyable and soulful than the pop and rap auditions, especially when they give their own unique touches to the song. To each their own, but when you hear the same pop, rap, R/B, country songs, and the like sang more times than a broken record, it looses its flavor and zest.

    • If you want a genre like that I'd recommend starting with early metal core (2005-2010 era) and working your way up. The more you listen to it the more accustomed to the genre and you understand the words being screamed.

    • I am the same way actually there is one vocalist that is the exception for me like I adore GG6 by Amaranthe and Boom!1 while I usually do not like songs with mostly growls but his unique style of rap growling makes it interesting to listen to. What the other person said is true though slowly mix those bands in with growling vocals and eventually you will like it more. Bands I could personally recomend are Amaranthe they have 3 vocalist including one growler GG6 and Mikael (the new guy) are in my opinion their best some songs to check out: Insatiable, Damnation Flame (introduction of Mikael), Digital World (some GG6 now), Breakthrough Starshot and Helix. Another good band is Ad Infinitum songs to check out are Marching On Versailles, Animals, Serpent's Downfall and I Am The Storm. Lord Of The Lost is good to check out as well depending on what you like since they change sub genre every album so some songs to check out are Drag Me To Hell, For They Know Not What To Do, Future Of A Past Life, Black Halo, Morgana and Loreley. These are some bands that made me appreciate growling vocals more so maybe it could do the same for you.
