Where can I buy that MagSafe brown wallet?
You can pick one up on Amazon here: amzn.to/3vydkhX
I love how this fits perfectly and looks good at the same time.
Thanks Colline!
I need one to go inside the case. I bought a beautiful case for myself and for my Mom. Putting it on the outside would cover the design.
Here's a follow up video that provides more detail. kzhead.info/sun/bLytoJGxpGSjq68/bejne.html
Best ring ever!!! Really impressed by this item I bought
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks. ESR ring worked perfectly on my Spigen thin fit case too! The newer ones come with slightly different packaging and alignment tool. I'm surprised you didn't use the alignment tool method.
Glad it worked out! I was probably a little too impatient on using the alignment tool. :)
Mine already arrived and as said thiss ESR universal ring is good for converting normal cases into magsafe ones.
Essentially you can make any wireless charging phone Magsafe compatible. I made my wife’s iphone 11 Magsafe compatible by using the same technique as yours.
That’s right, great way to add MagSafe. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this! I wanted to buy chargers from ESR and thought that maybe this universal ring is a great product too. (turns out it is according to your vid)
It has worked well for me. Thanks for watching!
By far this is the BEST magsafe conversion ring out right now, I have bought the Mophie version and similar small magnet styled rings and they bearly work! Although the ESR's are not magnets but a simple metal ring it works GREAT. I currently have it on a hybrid clear thin Spigen case on my Note 10+ and using Aukey's magsafe charger. Hover the phone over and it will pick up the charging pad! Waiting for the S22 Ultra to see if I get that or Pixel 6 Pro, but for sure will be adding the Halolock ring to it.
Great comment! Thanks!
Is the mophie really worse? I saw a review and they said that the mophie is stronger than actual magsafe! Thanks
So this ring he attached with the adhesive is NOT a magnet at all? I’m looking for a magnet to attach to my case so I can attach my phone to gym equipment as I’m working out in the gym. This isn’t what I need to buy?
@@Dallasguy1972 correct, this version is NOT A MAGNET, just a metal ring or a metal washer. you would have to get the magnet version (has small magnets in a ring form). You can see the small magnets in the picture when you go buy it!
@@robinrai4973 well in my situation it didn't work, but you can still give it a try or look for more videos, there's more videos now from when I got mine!!!!
I Have a Jauggernaut case, not magsafe compiant yet this solves my problem thanks
Hadn’t heard of Jauggernaut before, just took a look and they look cool
Personally I think most of these rings are just metal, but the type of metal that magnets attract to. I'm not sure anyone needs magnetic rings at all. You just need a metal ring that magnets attract well to. The magnet is in the accessory - the charger, the stand, the pop socket etc. Correct me if I'm wrong but you don't have to search for a magnetic ring. You just have to find a ring that magnets are very attracted too. The ring has to be made of a very ferromagnetic material.
Hey Chris - glad to find a video review of this particular brand. I've tried a couple of other products and am not thrilled with the look or feel - one has harsh flat edges, so it's not comfortable to the touch, and the other is just too thick, although nice smooth edges. I can't quite tell from your video or the product description, but are the edges of the ESR flat or are they (hopefully) smooth & beveled? Thanks!
Steve, the edges are flat, but they don’t feel sharp to me, it’s actually very thin. Hope that helps!
Exactly, the rings and stickers are ridiculously thick, it is crazy
I have an elastic finger loop and lost my wireless charging. It’s pretty flat and narrow. I assume I could open that slot a little to fit around it and should get back my charging?
Commenting for the algo. This solved a major problem
Hey, thanks for the comment and for letting me know, glad I could help!
Hey Chriss! Thanks for the comprehensive video! It looks like this is the strongest aftermarket-magnetring you can buy. But I read somewhere that only the magsafe array on the iphone 12 etc have the orientation magnets (the little stripe underneath the ring) which help keep the magsafe wallet for instance to stay straight. Now my question is: is the lack of that stripe noticeable and does it hinder the use of other magsafe accessories? Because there seems to be a gap where otherwise the stripe would be wich could have the same purpose of the alignment magnets. Sorry for the long-comment...
Olle, thanks for watching and the comment. You are correct that the magnetic ring is missing the alignment strip that normally sits below the ring. I haven’t noticed that being an issue with wallets or with the charger, haven’t tested it with a car mount though. Can the wallet for example rotate a little? Yes, it can, but I really haven’t noticed it as an issue until your comment. Thanks again!
@@thechristaft Thanks for your quick reaction! Good to know that it isn't that noticable unless pointed out. I suppose that, with some handywork, you could use a bit of a second ring to get something like the alignment magnets on the iphone 12...
No
There is a Spigen ring that has the alignment strip below the ring.
Great video! I like your Moft wallet. Could you please tell me which specific color it is?
Magsafe cases also have a ring inside the case itself for better conductivity to the charger. Not sure if my assumption is correct.
Hey chris! Nice explanation. How is the Esr magnet glue strenght? Is it sticks good to the spigen thin fit? Thanks
The ESR glue is very strong, can be hard to remove. Works great on the thinfit.
Question Chris, I have a most wallet as well… love it. How thin is the separation between the wallet and the phone case? Is the gap really noticeable?
Larry, I’ll share a pic tomorrow when I get to my office (I left the case there this weekend), but it’s not really noticeable unless you really look for a separation.
@@thechristaft Ahh yup lll na m.nnj Nmn mbinhmjn .m.b(;-!±0¶
Great video! Do you think this will work to make older iPhones ‘MagSafe compatible’. I have an iPhone XR and I want to use a MagSafe charger, the magnetic alignment seems cool and useful. My phone has wireless charging but no magnets, so I’m wondering if sticking this ring to my case would work.
Hi Juan that actually could be a good idea. The MagSafe charger does work on an iPhone XR, I just tried it with my wife’s phone, so the magnetic ring might help hold it onto the back of the phone.
Adding the metal ring lets you use magsafe accessories with your XR and charge via the built-in wireless Qi charging but it doesn't add "magsafe" charging to the XR. Magsafe charging is about twice as fast as Qi wireless charging.
@@ReitersBlock I want to know if it will work for my iPhone SE 2020 in my case and be able to receive all MagSafe accessories
Thanks for posting about this. Wondering if it’s possible to install on the inside of the case. Sticky side against the inside of the case and it still work?
So these are made of metal and not magnetic, they work best on the outside of the case so they come in direct contact with the magsafe accessory. Mophie makes a ring adapter that is magnetic. That might work on the inside.
@@thechristaft I had the same question. I have a Lohasic case that isn’t strong with MagSafe accessories but I don’t wanna put the ring on the outside for when I don’t have the accessories on I’d rather on the inside. Maybe mophie would work.
@@dannigro8794 I have seen several mentions of applying the Mophie directly to your phone. In my experience, you are still going to have a weaker connection though a case with the ring on the inside, but it could work good enough for you.
I am using the morphine magnetic ring on the inside of a case. I had to Drexel out the inside to get the magnets as close to the edge as possible to be as strong as poosible
Thanks for sharing!
The ring is easy to fit and looks good aesthetically. So slim its barely noticeable when holding the phone. When placed on the MagSafe charger/stand it holds the phone securely.
Thanks Emma, totally agree!
Which is stronger, the mophie or this? Thanks
Thinking of buying this because of how much I love the Spigen Thin Fit too lol. Chris have you found any case that's similar to it and has magsafe? Or are you still rocking the thin fit with the ring?
Haven’t found anything quite like the thin fit yet, so still remember coin the ring, but Cadabe Sheath and Smartish Gripmunk get close to it.
Thank you for being sensible and using the charger to align the template. I see so many people who just wing it and it's off-center. Is it still holding up well today?
It’s working great, no issues so far.
yeah, thats cool, but you have template what does a better job, than magsafe charger, to align the ring... Bet that aligning it w magsafe is the reason of apple logo is not aligned properly.
Could I put it’s inside of a case. I have a dbrand case and MagSafe works but not well and I don’t want to ruin the look of the skin.
Are these rings forsure metal? Could you apply the ring to a non magsafe wallet? Would the iphone magnets or magsafe case be strong enough to hold a wallet with a ring applied to it (assuming it’s not to heavy)
Daniel, since they are metallic, they do hold to a MagSafe phone or case without applying the adhesive. That is one what I am able to line them up correctly, by using the phone's magnetic hold to get the ring lined up in the right spot. I think it would work.
Can I put it under the case, or it needs to be on the case?
Do you know if the ESR Halo ring will stick to a DBrand grip case? Thank you for your information!
Yes, it should definitely stick just fine. I’ve got the grip and while I haven’t put one on, I can tell it should work well.
Does the HaloLock Ring gets hot or hotter than usual when charging with the Magsafe Charger or the Magsafe Battery Pack?
Pete - I haven’t noticed it heating up, and I charge my phone overnight and keep my wallet on most of the day.
could the metal ring be installed inside the phone case? Do you think it will still feel the magnetic attraction between the case and the magsafe charger?
So it really needs to go on the outside of the case. I’m dropping a new video on this tomorrow, but basically, what I learned, is the ring itself is not magnetic, but works to create a stronger hold with the magnetic accessory just by being metallic, so it needs to be as close to that accessory as possible. Having it on the inside of the case would defeat that purpose. Thx!
@@thechristaft thanks for this discovery! I was always confused too. Some rings are magnetic, some rings are just metal. I wonder if it was a magnet instead perhaps it can sit inside the case as a conductor between the phone and the external magsafe charger.
Nice vid, will it work for the otterbox defender case for the iPhone 12 Pro?
As long as it has a flat surface, it should work.
If the case is too thick though it won’t necessarily improve charge times.
Does a MagSafe compatible ring prevent the use of a regular wireless charger? I know they say not to put metal on them so would this prevent them from working?
Great question.... I haven't tested with a non-magnetic wireless charger.
do you think this will work with a silicone case, if not is there another way to do so ie using super glue?
I think it would work fine on a silicone case, it’s not a whole lot different than a pop socket, and they work fine on silicone. Thanks!
Does it work if you apply it on the inside of a case and then try to use it with a MagSafe compatible accessory or a magnetic car mount?
It is the intended to be used outside the case. It should work inside the case, but the connection could be a little weaker. I’m rolling a new video out this week to test different scenarios like that. I’ll share it with you once it’s live.
Made the mistake of not deep cleaning my phone before sticking the magnet. great thing that this is kinda foolproof, it still sticked well though i felt some random bumps on the area. :(
Did it come with two?
Could it be possible to apple the magnet on the phone itself and still get a stronger magsafe? I have a Bullstrap iPhone 12 Pro case but the magents on the case aren’t super strong.
Hi Diego after using this for awhile, I’ve learned the ring itself is not magnetic. It is metal which increases the hold onto the case. But is most effective when it can come in direct contact with the MagSafe accessory, thus the need to put it on the outside of the case.
Hope you see this is there anyway it still works sticking it to the inside of a case?
It’s probably thin enough, but I would be concerned about it possibly scratching the back of the phone. I have not tested it on the inside of a case. It would probably work but I’m assuming the magnetic hold would not be as strong
I bought the Pitaka mount/charger for car, I need to know if this metal ring with work with the Pitaka or not, can you test them?
I don’t have the Pitaka mount/charger, but is your pitaka case MagSafe?
I have a case that is supposed to be MagSafe ,but I’m not too sure. I wonder if this will help to strengthen the magnet in my case
At minimum it will add a stronger magnetic connection to your case.
Would it be possible to apply the magnetic strip to the inside of the case so it doesn’t show?
It's pretty thing, so might fit, but the purpose of it is to provide a stronger connection with whatever magsafe device you are using, so putting it inside the case works against it because you now have the case between it and your magsafe accessory.
Just a few questions, might sound stupid but just need them clarified 1. Does this work through the case? As in if I attached it inside instead of outside the case, would it still work reasonably well? 2. This is technically universal for any phone right? Like using it on an older Samsung (S9 series) and iPhone (X,11) would work just fine if attached on the phone and if a case was added on top?
Great questions… It works best on the outside of the case. If you put it on the inside it will reduce the strength of the hold. Also, it doesn’t make your device wires less charging compatible of it isn’t already, it just makes your phone have a stronger magnetic hold for MagSafe accessories.
Bought similar product, but the double sided sticky tape just won't hold after use the magsafe charger as it generate heat when wireless charge. Does this has same problem?
Interesting, I have not had that issue, but thx for letting us know.
No one ever shows the Android MagSafe cases and converted cases work on non-MagSafe chargers, and ESPECIALLY wireless chargers in automobiles (which none are MagSafe chargers).
How strong are these? compared to like spigens? should i use a metal or magnetic ring?
I haven't found a difference between either the metal ring or magnetic rings. I would go Spigen IMO, here is a follow up video with more detail. kzhead.info/sun/bLytoJGxpGSjq68/bejne.html
how does it goes after these months? I bought something like this, but wireless charge create heat and the rings always get off with the power bank :(
I’ve been good myself, the glue is super strong, however, I do switch cases a lot, so that’s good to know that you have had this issue.
How did it hold up? They specifically said don’t put on a rubber case
Holds up just fine on the spider thinfit, it's not exactly rubber, more of a soft plastic. The rings have a very strong glue, I haven't had any issues.
Hey why didn’t you use the blue-dummy-lightning-connector-aligner??
It’s not sturdy enough and doesn’t quite fit and it was hard to use, kept slipping. Thanks!
Would this work the same attaching to the inside of the case?
Possibly, but by placing the case between the ring and your phone, you are essentially weakening the hold.
Are they really magnetic rings or just plain metal for magnetic chargers to stick on?
The ESR HaloLock is metal, but you can get actual magnets, check out the Mophie ring.
Finally!!!
how its works with a wireless powerbank?
so this ring is permanent. i bought it and you need to align it perfectly or else the charging will be a difficult task to align it.
Can you put this on the inside of the case? So it's not visible?
It's really made to go outside the case... I talk more about that here: kzhead.info/sun/bLytoJGxpGSjq68/bejne.html
is it magnetic or metalic? can the ring by it self stick to a fridge or another ring?
Yarden - it is metallic. The MagSafe accessories will stick to it, but not on its own.
does this trick work if i have a iphone 10 and will it work ok anker 5 charger?
Will this fit inside the case for an invisible installation?
It’s really made to go on the outside of the case.
Can I apply the ring on the inside of my case? Or if I were to apply it to the back of my phone... would it still connect?
kzhead.info/sun/fM2xe7xppaOspJs/bejne.html Nvm lol
Thanks for watching!
if i put the magnet ring on my metal ridge wallet can it stick on my phone or and apple product?
So if you put the ring on your wallet or any other surface, your phone will stick to it, since your phone has a magnet built in.
@@thechristaft that and also I’m thinking about using the MagSafe wallet as an additional to add my ridge wallet I can go both ways.
Hey the problem I have is that this product is just a ring stamped from a piece of sheet metal. And it's sharp edges scratch up the glossy finish of my magnet charging phone holder in my car. So I'm just gonna tell you this
Can you stick the ring on the inside of the case instead of on the back of the case?
It’s pretty thin, and technically would work if there is enough space. You would lose some magnetic strength because you are putting the case now between the ring and the MagSafe accessory.
Can i put mag safe ring inside the cover i have ag matt cover will it affect the attachment
It's not really intended to go on the inside of the case.
Does it include hand held cases?
Not exactly sure of the question, but if it is a flat surface then yes.
Could I his be added to a otter box commuter case for a iPhone 12 Pro Max and still charge ?
I haven’t used that case before, but if it charges without MagSafe without the ring, then it will work with the ring.
Is it normal for the magnetic sticker to get hot while charging?
Good question, I haven’t found that, but I could see that during charging.
Wonder if this will work on then inside of the case. I don't like the look of it on then outside. Don't like seeing the ring
I need this for two smartish cases!!!
It’s only $10 too, so a very cheap fix. Which cases do you use from Smartish?
@@thechristaft gripzilla black tie affair and the gripmunk clear case! I also have the wallet slayer vol 1 but will use these for the top 2
@@reynaldogonzalez5919 nice! I have the wallet slayer, but haven’t gotten the gripmunk yet although it’s on the list.
@@thechristaft the gripmunk replaced the kung fu grip
You are the only channel who reviewed this and I’m thankful for that. I’m certainly looking at this because I have a wireless power bank and I feel it’s a good use case. Put it on the power bank and boom, next time I don’t have worry about exact positioning and be happy with Qi charging for my 12 PM.
Does the ring not come off after a while and loose its stickiness
Not in my experience, these things have a very strong hold. They’re very difficult to take off.
@@thechristaft thank you sir
Is the ring of magnetic material, or just a metal?
The ring itself is not a magnetic, but the metal provides a stronger connection point for cases that lack MagSafe.
Where can I find a magnetic ring?
Hi, do you think it will hold phone on bumpy road?
Hi! I do, I use a magnetic car mount myself and it holds just fine. BTW - I am posting a new video on the updated ring from ESR and one from Spigen tomorrow if you want to check those out. I’d probably recommend you get the Spigen MagSafe ring.
@@thechristaft ok i will check. Thank you a lot :)
Will this work on leather cases?
It will probably ruin the leather if you try to take it off. The adhesive is very strong, so you’ll need to commit to it.
Could this stick on the inside of a case and still work?
Not as well, but should still give you some hold.
will it work with other phone which support wireless charging
It will definitely make the phone connect to MagSafe accessories and should not interfere with wireless charging.
Fairly hideous looking though. Do you know if it'll work if places on the inside of the case, like metal plates do for magnetic car mounts?
I think you would lose magnetic strength because the case would be in the way, but if there is room inside the case it might work.
I would NOT put it inside the case. The ring is metals and have some thickness (despite being thin) and will leave marks on the back of your phone.
Does this work on non MagSafe phones going into that case? Like Google Pixel?
So it will make any phone MagSsfe in terms of being able to magnetically connect to accessories like MagSsfe wallets or car mounts, etc., but it will not impact charging capabilities.
@@thechristaft but does wireless charging still work with it on?
@MarkTomeh yes, including qi wireless charging.
Can I use this for my magnetic car phone holder ?
Yes, I have had no problems with my MagSafe car phone holder and one of these.
Anyone tried these with with the fusion x camo? It has that textured camo surface so im wondering will it work?
Quick question can I put the magnets inside the phone case?
It’s not good to do that, what I have since learned is they are not magnetic, but metallic, so by being in the outside of the case and coming into contact with your MagSafe accessory, they increase the magnetic hold.
@@thechristaft okay thanks
Will this work on a leather case?
Zac, the adhesive is extremely strong on these, so I think it would work on a leather case, as long as the leather is fairly smooth. Thanks!
Thanks for the great video. It is very insightful. Do you know whether it sticks and work properly with these cases? Apple Smart Battery Case for iPhone 11 Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max Leather Case
Not sure on the battery case with the hump, but will work with the leather case, although you will have to commit to using it permanently as it may damage the case if you try to take it off. Thanks for watching!
@@thechristaft Thanks for the response.
Does the glue hold up in the long term? can it be directly applied to the back on an older iphone to make it magsafe compatible?
I would be careful on applying it to an actual phone, the adhesive is extremely strong. I can't get it to come off the case now that I have applied it, so just keep that in mind. Otherwise, so far it has lasted just fine, still has an extremely strong hold. It's not something you can take off and put back on.
@@thechristaft Thanks a lot! I do have a MagSafe case that I got from Amazon but I thought it I can get a ring with his adhesive I can keep the phone slim while still getting MagSafe charging on SE 2.
Would you recommend using this on an iPhone 11 with a leather case? I'm looking at getting one for my partner so she can wirelessly charge her phone. As long there's enough magnetism for her to have it hold in a stand then I'm happy
Does this work with Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra?
Is this a magnet? If yes, then how is the magnetic strength?
So this one is actually not a magnet. It's metal so your MagSafe accessory can grab on to it. Mophie makes one that is actually magnetic. I have a video on that one as well.
Is this just a metal ring or an actual magnet?
It’s actually just metal.
can i put this inside a case?
You will weaken the magnetic hold if you do that, so I wouldn’t recommend it.
Would this work on a galaxy note 10?
I'm not as familiar with Samsung, if it is wireless charging compatible it should work. It will at least make it magnetic to connect to accessories.
Is there one that goes inside case
Not really, they are intended for outside the case.
Can you just put it directly on your phone ?
Not conclusive, you can technically but that defeats the purpose of using a case.
@@thechristaft I prefer no case lol I know I know. I am somewhat of an adrenaline junkie. I live for the rush and danger
I’m with you… no case is the dream!
Can i use on glass case?
Interesting, I would think so, although, probably hard to take off without damaging the case.
Is this product still working great for you?
Yes, adhesion is great, still the best option for non MagSafe cases or non MagSafe phones that you want to be able to attach things like magnetic wallets, etc.
Awesome!! Thank you for the reply. I just ordered the Casetify and didn’t like the look of MagSafe with customization I put on the case.
Is it a magnetic ring or a metal ring?
This one is metal.
Can you share that wallpaper?
Sure thing... I put it up on Google Drive, but I believe you can download it on the APP Walli too drive.google.com/drive/folders/1hAp1zf9Zv6tInGu8QcszSsA8YXcM6HaW?usp=sharing
Can it go inside the case
I don’t think there is enough room.
I would think if you put it inside the case as well, there is a chance the ring would scratch the iPhone.
Maybe if the case isn't too thick and you stick it to the back of the phone itself and THEN put the case over it, it could work... It seems like a very strong magnetring after all
Can I put this inside the case?
You can and it will still charge, but you might lose some strength of the magnetic hold...
Does the ring work with ohsnap
I'm not sure on the ohsnap since it is another ring. I have not used it before. Do you know if it works with other Magsafe cases? If so, it might be fine.
Samsung phone get PITAKA case and for Google Phone get Moment case. Both Cases have MagSafe built in.
Moment is one I’ve had on my list to check out for awhile now
Does it work in samsung galaxy a73?
I’ve put one on my A53. It works to attach to wallets, etc. wireless charging depends on your phone.
The ring end up unsticking
lol you pronounce spigen very differently from me. Now I'm wondering if I've been saying the name wrong. i say SPY-JEN. But anyways, they really are the best cases, I've been using spigen for years, and I was just talking to a store employee about the brand yesterday! and this is the perfect video, thanks!
Thx Bianca, yeah, I could be wrong too on the pronunciation, but they make great cases, thanks for watching!
