The first of seven phases of the Indian national election kicked off last week, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to secure a third term. While domestic issues have taken centre stage, India's role on the world stage, and its relations with rival China, have also come into focus during the campaign. CNA's East Asia Tonight finds out what a third term for Modi would mean for China-India relations.

    • As far as I know, 60 Chinese soldiers died, not 4. Stop peddling Chinese propaganda. 😂🤣 And Pakistan is not India’s arch-rival anymore. It used to be one in early 2000s. How could a nation full of beggars, an arch-rival of a nation consistently growing at 7-8 percent, projected to be third largest economy by 2026. We are focused on our development only. As of today, there is no relationship between India and Pakistan, nor even at people’s level. No trade as well. China is using Pakistan, its 🫶🏻Iron brother🫶🏻 as a proxy against India. Giving it weapons for te₹₹o₹ism and preventing its te₹₹o₹ists from getting blacklisted at UN. Well done China! Keep up your good work!

    • India did not exist before Britain colonized the peninsula. India as a political entity is a creation of British Raj. Britain stole land from China and Burma to annex it with the newly created India. Tibet was part of China long before India was created.

    • Indian economic miracle will happen under Modiji's able administration. India is a democratic country and not one party ruling forever without electoral mandate. Human rights in India is much better compared to many others. Never the less, India contributed the developing world by donating free vaccines to the low and middle income countries. This is India's civilization and respect everyone, the world is one family approach. I doubt our neighbor will think this way.
