Flying Over New York in a Small Airplane! - The Hudson River VFR Corridor

Last year, we fly the Hudson VFR Corridor for the first time. We just got to putting the footage together! A lot of anxiety, planning, and learning went into flying down the Hudson, but it ended up being a breeze! The Yankee Stadium TFR prevented the classic run of the Hudson River, so we ended up getting flight following into the Bravo at 1,500 feet. The New York air traffic controllers are some of the nicest and most patient controllers we have dealt with! They were so amazing and should not be feared! Thank you New York!
AOPA: "You can cruise the Hudson River under New York’s Class B airspace on your own personal tour of the Big Apple. This corridor gives pilots an exclusive perspective on such iconic landmarks as the Empire State Building; the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum; and the Statue of Liberty."

  • That's pretty. I would love to do that one day. What year is your Cirrus?

    • 2003 and it’s the “centennial” edition... kinda squished between a G1 and 2... she’s great though, made it to Oshkosh and back without a hiccup last year! We still use your preflight, once we get through the right side we figure we can always finish the left once we get to our destination! What a time saver 😂

  • As a New York Private pilot, I have done the "Hudson Cor odor" dozens of times. It is nice to see out of town pilots enjoying the sites we here take for granted , flying here in the NY / NJ area.

    • That’s really nice of you to say! I’ve flown all over the country and that’s the most worked up I’ve been for a flight. I can’t imagine learning in that environment, must be great experiences Edit: and those sites.. wow... it’s insane. Can’t wait to do it again

  • Ah good old youtube, suddenly introducing some of the good stuff from the vault. Caught your Oshkosh series, plus this one on a slow news day and thoroughly enjoyed them. Hope there are more to come when the madness abates.

  • Yes, learning in the NY/NJ flight area is quite challenging. It is such a congested area with Newark, Kennedy and La guardia class "Bravo" overlapping. You do learn to use the "System" that is out there for our safety, such as flight following, NY departure, NY approach and ATC. It does make a student or seasoned pilot more proficient on the radio, taking vectors, changing Frequencies Etc. Getting cleared through or over a class B, such as Newark is Very cool. Your in a Warrior flying at 3000 agl and directly over Newark airport, with A320s, 747s, 737s flying under and over you, as you merrily fly along at 120 Knots, that's what it is all about in GA. I LOVE IT !

  • I’m watching some Osh Kosh videos and you popped up, haven’t seen your videos in too long, where are you? I started watching when you were doing $100 burgers to Cedar Key and the area. Hoping to see new videos soon.

    • Thanks for watching! I wish we could, we gave ourselves 2 years to gain some internet traction and we just couldn’t do it. So it just got too expensive. So unfortunately, that’s that. Glad you enjoyed what we made though! It really does mean a lot!

    • @@7ZeroProductions Lol, I know you said it's one of your pet peeves but it really does make sense. Stadiums full of 50,000+ people in the heart of a city could be easy targets. Terrorism is actually one thing I always worry about when I go into big crowds!
