And this is why I'm excited for the new competitors to release their games this year 😂 "inZOI" in particular looks really good. I figured if I can really only use the Sims 4 as a way to create pretty characters and houses (with cc and mods), then inZOI would be a good replacement. Dunno how gameplay is gonna go yet but we'll have to see. Honestly more game companies should rip each other off. This is how we avoid monopolies, for one thing. But for another thing, this competition is healthy for consumers, as it forces game developers to think of what WE WANT, instead of what THEY want US to SPEND. If the Sims 5 can't even hold a candle to inZOI, they may be done for good. It's a shame to think The Sims may one day be considered only a relic of the past...

It wasn’t translated as cool in cold, at least in Portuguese. They translated into something like “dope kitchen” (cozinha maneira)
It probably was! I don't think the localisation teams got the memo, though, haha. The Dutch translator interpreted it as "Coole Keukenaccessoires", with "coole" being an adjective to describe something as, well, "cool"!

@@egel7736 yeah the translations have been pretty mid after the sims 4. In the sims 2 and 3 the Portuguese translations are genius. they have so many puns that are very on brand with the old sims lore while also incorporating things of the local culture. I think the sims 3 is funnier in Portuguese then it is in English… there was clearly a lot of effort put it into it. The sims 4 is just ok, I mean, the translation does communicate exactly what the original game wants to say (with the necessary adjustments) butttt there’s nothing more to it, so to me it’s not worth it playing it translated because it’s the same.
I would love to see an in-depth video where you go through your wishlist for a future Sims game. It doesn’t have to be Sims 5, so it can be “unrealistic” or not possible now. Past mechanics, new mechanics, pictures from Pinterest that inspire something, etc

Get Together absolutely deserved that #1. It's easily the most "The Sims" expansion for The Sims 4 and that's something special. The club system is an absolute must-have for the game, yet doesn't feel like it was something they kept from the base game to sell later on (looking at you Growing Together and Seasons). Just perfect.

I love how flexible the club system is. I mean NOTHING was off the table. You can make some really wild chaotic clubs or wholesome ones and it gave all age groups something to do.

Werewolves taking the number 1 spot is EXACTLY what she deserves. Idk what was going on in the EA Sims office when they were developing that game pack specifically but we need that energy for the whole game. We got some of the cutest townies(Rory, Jacob, Lou[My fave🥰💕]) and the world looks small but its surprising big in world. I love making werewolf families and then having them just run around during the full moon. Overall Werewolves is my all time favorite game pack and i think the sims team was cooking when they made her.
I love how Plumbella never uses butlers, meanwhile I hire a butler IMMEDIATELY in every sim family once a second child is born 🤣🤣

GOD, was 2019 Mosquito pack EA Play???? I was there in the audience (standing in the back like a COMMONER) and I remember the unsure claps and confused looks everyone was giving. DO love it for giving us the ability to take pretty nice pictures of sims. I use it to track my legacy households! Also, important to note that First Pet Stuff was an expansion *for an expansion*. You literally couldn't use it UNLESS you had Cats and Dogs, which is even MORE ugly. Not only are they taking out content and making you pay for it separately, you can't even ACCESS that content until you've purchased the pack that they STOLE THE CONTENT FROM. GREAT video as always, thank you for making it! Praying that you and yours are all well!!
I mean you can access like half the content in it without having Cats&Dogs, but that obviously just makes it a ridiculously tiny pack 😅
You can use them separately, and the pet outfits were only accessible with Cats and Dogs, and unfortunately that was the bit they marketed with. Also, by the logic they used for merging them over on home console, cross-pack stuff shouldn't even be allowed on console (because it's locked out of use unless you have another pack and has an impact on whether you buy the product), fun fact.
omg like lol im pretty new to the sims and seeing like oh you can get the my first pet stuff for free was cool, and then learning you can't really use it without cats and dogs, AND THEN lol learning how greedy ea is and how sims 3 had better content, and how expensive everything is😭 and learning about how each pack plays from ytbers, tho ive just been chilling with building and using a few cc ive found

Movie Hangout Stuff will always have a big place in my heart for the solely for the lore in the objects that refer to the Sims 2 Open For Business Families and talk about a tv series that two of the sims started. Somebody was a w***e for lore when they made this pack.
I still fixate on that shit because how can 4 exist in an alternate universe when there's a confirmed in universe reality show that stars sims from The Sims 2 which revolves around stopping in Sims 3 worlds?? 😭 Another thing I fixate on is the damn postcards that reference Sims 3 worlds, especially the Sunset Valley one that makes references to SV being popular in the past?? Wtf was all that, EA??

@48:07 I 100% agree with you. There has to be a reason these things don't get fleshed out. There could have easily been an animation of a football game. There could have been pop ups where you "choose your own adventure" or similar to when you send a kid to school, a rabbit hole style pop up could say " your teammate at the top of the lift starts to slip" and then gives you the option to do one of two things to save the cheerleading move and your team does better or worse. It wouldn't have been that hard! And even if it was a rabbit hole like that, it would have been better than the tiny things it is!!
When romantic garden was free, I almost didn’t even get it - I thought I’d never use it. But then I saw the fountain you could sit on and play in and thought that might be fun and got it. Tried it out. Me: oh my gosh, I need this fountain in every park. Me: oh my gosh now I can throw coins in any fountain from any pack this is so cool Me: Actually this hair is very cute. It was wonderous to bask in the EA travesties that have happened as of late. Every day I think of picking Sims 4 back up, and every day I decide to vicariously live through other people who play it online because it'll never beat being 10 and playing Sims 3 on my Xbox all night
I hadn't played Sims 4 in awhile and I got the urge to play last weekend. I played for like 2 days straight and got my sim through an entire degree at university and then... nothing happened. She can't take classes and she can't graduate. She's in college limbo. No degree and she can't go home. So yeah... if you're thinking of picking it back up, well, good luck

I really don't get why Spa Day gets so much hate. It's actually one of the packs I use in every save. Yoga is a great way to get an easy 8hr buff for Inspired so you can bust out lots of paintings or Focused so you can get those home upgrades done, etc. Love your list! ETA: Forgot to say that I also love having the spa to send my poor sims to after I finish a round of torturing them (doing things that wind up stacking a ton of negative buffs) to sort of reset before the next round.
Finally someone brought up the poly counts of that damn rocking chair 😭 i can literally count them on half a hand

Totally agree about Paranormal being #1, for all the reasons you listed. Plus with mods there's so much cool stuff you can do with the seance table.
RE: Why things that seem needed are missing from a lot of packs (around 47:25)... I work in tech, but not games, and I've seen this sort of behavior a lot; specifically, where teams rush a release without all of the features users/players will want and with bugs. My theory is that it seems to be a function of HOW companies/ teams organize themselves to manage and track their workload. This is a bit technical, but basically "Waterfall" is a method where you iterate on each phase of development before the work goes to the next phase. It has mostly been replaced by "Agile" method, where you break work up into smaller bits and iterate as you go- it's focus is on constantly improving. Waterfall was needed when you shipped software/ a game via a physical CD and couldn't rely on updates to happen. Agile is the main method used today and is seen as the "best" (whether or not it's appropriate for a project). The problem is that since Agile is focused on constantly improving, teams have taken that and applied it wrong. Rather than using it to constantly improve an existing product, instead they use it as an excuse to do the bare minimum in as little time as possible, then give it to users/players and plan to fix the issues later. While it's not meant to work that way, it's how I've always seen things done in practice. And these teams are rarely able to dedicate the time and resources needed to actually fix those issues and almost never go back to add in the missing features. Because management wants them to move into the next thing to release. After working at 5+ tech companies (plus seeing the experiences of friends) this is an industry wide issue in all forms of tech (not just gaming). Not sure how it can be fixed, but hopefully Maxis gets it together and switches to having a more "waterfall" approach to any new pack in the future.
I am a fellow werewolves enthusiast and I saw a post on reddit about how a lot of the werewolf temperaments are a lot like having autism and I can't stop thinking about it because it's such a mood. If I was a sims 4 werewolf my temperaments would be sensitive hearing, feels outcasted, survival instincts, and probably anti-capitalist canine. But instead of gaining fury I gain sensory overload/burnout :') Werewolves was buggy for me for a long time because I refused to update my game after the werewolf patch because the wants/fears system was broken for so long but now I have updated my game and downloaded some mods that also helped me fix the problems I was having and now werewolves are the dream

I might be asking too much from my stuff packs but I really wish laundry day stuff came with a laundromat lot type, you don't even need it to be buyable just a lot your sim can go to and pay to use the washing machines if you don't have room for one in your home or can't afford them.
I enjoyed your assessment of everything! I think you should do another set of videos this time where you're playing only *your* best rated packs and then only *your* worst rated packs just to see how that goes and if it changes your mind at all lol. I'm sure it won't but it'll be entertaining to watch! I LOVE the idea of having a multi-generational blended Werewolf and Vampire family, living in Windenburg in a Haunted House that you've built, creating your own club with some of the activities relevant to these packs (or else SOMETHING for the kids to do) , making money by selling food at the Von Haunt estate or on that Island you can get invited to or at the community pool! Maybe one Sim becomes a werewolf, realizes needing food constantly while slowly changing is ROUGH, and decides to sell it themselves, especially if they go hunting for raw meat as a werewolf. And they go out at night because living in a Haunted House is also rough. Maybe the vampire is the paranormal expert. I mean, very much Three Brothers vibes of James Turner (formerly TheSimSupply) fame but that feels fitting. lol you could even build a very wonky haunted house for it in a Tudor style and also create your own Community Center in Windenburg. We could get multiple videos out of the builds too! Or well you COULD play in San Sequoia but I just want justice for Windenburg because I don't think people remember/realize how massive it is. Get Together got dunked on for years and it's finally getting some recognition because it's not gonna shine on everyone's list but it's pretty solid if you don't hate anything about it.
There is an under wear category BUT it's hard to remember because you have to remove everything already on the Sim and click the undies in order for the other options to turn up so you can change their under wear! And inevitably I forget to do that before I start picking outfits. I'm also not a 100% certain if the change sticks with what you've chosen after you put their clothes back on in CAS since for example they also count as tops and bottoms overall. I usually forget so I still haven't checked with any Sim I customized the undies on, then keep switching their clothes with laundry on the lot so they get stuck in them until they wash and dry their laundry. Also, in the base game there's literally only 3 different styles for bottoms and bras with 3 swatches each. (At least for feminine choices. I can't recall what the masculine choices arebut it's probably the same amount of options.) It's also frankly annoying they're making us pay for the under wear... I haven't looked in a while but they better have given us one more option in a free DX drop when that kit came out because that's just... raw. If they didn't make it so hard to customize I'm sure they'd have tons of players DEMANDING more options. lol It's the same reason I constantly forget about tattoos and COULDN'T FIND THEM after accidentally stumbling onto them, changing stuff, then wanting to pick something else and BEING UNABLE TO GET BACK TO IT because I didn't know how I got there in the first place. You have to have enough skin visible to click on it because there's a body category and a head category and it makes sense that the tattoos are in the body category but it's not easy to find them IMHO. (Edit: I could just be dense but I can't be alone in that... right??)

I also adore paranormal stuff and it's at the top of my life, around Halloween I love playing with it to get into the spirit of things. One thing while I was playing with it though is I went "I feel like there could be a bit more to this" but then I remembered it's a stuff pack and not a game pack, it feels too good, I forgot it was only a stuff pack. 10/10
Only note: I'd revisit book nook kit. Can do some great builds with it and the stacking books are a fun touch!

it is so tough being a strangerville lover in this world lmao. i get why some people arent fans of it but its in like my top 10 PACKS not just game packs ALL OF THEM. i do wish the world came with more lots but nothing brings me more joy in the sims 4 than making a little weirdo shut-in sim, giving them the strangerville mystery aspiration, plonking them down in that disgusting trailer, romancing erwin pries at the curio shop, forcing my sim to get infected and possessed by the mother plant, defeating ms mother plant, and then getting all the random crap in the mail with the strangerville hero reward trait. i literally cannot explain why it appeals to me the way that it does, like i fully get why it doesnt appeal to a lot of people but somehow someway it found its way into my heart
I love Strangerville too! it's one of my favourite packs. but I also dislike seasons so I am used to having my opinions alone haha
It's the replayability that fell short for me. Overall, even though the lots that come with the world look somewhat "questionable", it's genuinely absolutely beautiful if we choose to skip it over. If it sells for alot less that what EA asks for I'd put it the same beauty as Tartosa in My Wedding Stories.

I love this kind of content Jesse, and I’m excited to see more of this style. But for most of the video I was wondering if my earphones were broken or if it was the video. My dad plays his music quite high so headphones are quite necessary for me and my neurodivergent brain, but I ended up muting the volume as it sounds like the mic is cutting out at parts. One of the greatest downfalls of the sims 4 dlc is that they didnt clearly define what constitutes an expansion vs a gamepack vs a stuff pack vs a kit. Not only does it cause people to constantly be disappointed, its what causes nearly half the arguments and poor expectations in the sims community. Most people speculate its based on the budget for the packs which is why for horse ranch, people say it feels like the content of a gamepack, but then people argue that horses are expensive to animate. But it feels weird as a comparison to other expansion packs when they have more items or features. The difference between expansions vs gamepacks should be more clear to the consumer.

I'm so happy about such a long video! The only thing I noticed, especially with headphones, is that either the noise suppression or the pop filter makes you cut out a lot. Unfortunately my spicy brain can't deal with that. But I'll try to finish it on speakers!
