Luke Rockhold is a former Strikeforce Champion and a former UFC Champion. But some may not remember or be aware of that, considering how he is viewed now in the MMA community. Here is a look at his run to capturing the UFC Middleweight Championship. #ufc #lukerockhold #shorts
Dude was incredible. MMA fans generally don't remember shit
Worst sporting communities in terms of remembering things. Probably the drawback of having weekly events looool
@@Thawhid seriously it’s insane. Every time a new champion defends their belt a few times everybody’s like “Is he the new GOAT???” Irritating af.

@@mackattackgameclips4648 lol @khabib
Seriously.
Dude only has losses to TRTor, Bisping, Romero and Blachowicz, all champs or extremely close to it.
Thank you for stating that. Nobody else ever brings that up.
And they all hit hard as fuck. Yes even Bisping. Dude was a former 205er with a big KO ratio who's broken people's ribs and cheekbones and jaws in his career. Rockhold's chin isn't even bad tbh. That left hook from Jan and Romero would've killed many other fighters, yet he wasn't even out until they landed again. He's just a little too comfortable leaving it out there.
@@TheStraightestWhitest Na his chin is kinda bad
@@joemarron9079 it is now due to him leaving it out there over his career but definitely underrated in his prime
@@d.g4466 yeah I’ll be honest I don’t like him but he was a very good fighter in his prime

He was legitimately one of the most talented fighters ever. He was quick, dynamic, powerful, picked his shots well, balanced. He had it all. Then Bisping literally ended him. Cracked his jaw and his mindset.
He never had defense nor a jaw tho, so he had almost everything.
@@josemarialaguinge He wasn't any worse at taking damage than most fighters. And the only real knockout he had before was to a roided out Vitor
@@chrisredfield6274 Yeah now that I rethink it you're right, still had weak defense, and well, The Count finished his chin, he is still a force to reckon with tho.
Bisping's win over Rockhold for mentally sound fighter would've been an opportunity for self improvement and change in technique. I think Bisping had nothing to do with Rockhold downfall. His own ego destroyed his career by blinding him from reality.
@@lukefrombkI agree, he had talent, but his ego was out of sync with his talent. He could have got even better if he hadn't always believed that he is already a legendary fighter.
He was legit until his defense/chin let him down And probably his ego too
He had a nasty top game but people figured out that his answer to anyone throwing on him was a check hook, leaving him very vulnerable to an over the top left by basically anyone who noticed.
His hairline let him down too
@martini stirred no im not a samurai sadly
@@er7776 of course you're not Because you haven't _conceived_ it. So you don't _believe_ it. Which means you'll never _achieve_ it.
He still is legit..
He will always be a former champion. Respect.
Wish prime Luke fought Izzy would been a great style matchup for Luke
Prime Luke, like Strikeforce/early UFC Luke, would've been a crazy good match up against Adesanya.
Prime Luke or Weidman vs Izzy would be good
@@deadlysinner100 Weidman would get beat I think. But I got a sneaky feeling Luke might have taken it.
@@TheStraightestWhitest I think luke would have leg kicks are insane decent striking to where Izzy would not put him away quickly, and he’s bigger than Izzy I think if Luke got him down maybe more than once he would really mess Izzy up on the ground and win... but who knows
@@qsjwsbjns25 It's a wrap if it goes to the ground, Luke takes it quick.
This man defeated himself in the end. He was a specimen for sure but his mindset got him.
That or like everyone else his chin only had but so many hits it could take before it took a toll on him and unfortunately he ate a nasty high kick from TRT Vitor.
Well basically it’s his glass chin and his defence which is failing him.
Prime Rockhold is arguably the most complete middleweight ever. A master technician on striking and grappling.
@@tonicmix Nah dude that's dumb, Rockhold doesn't have a "glass chin" like people claim. He just doesn't have good defense and let himself get caught by power punchers. He won every fight up to the title even after losing to Vitor. He even crushed David Branch after getting caught by Bisping. He just got caught by a sneaky Romero afterwards.
Silk sheets.
That transition from a sprawl into a triangle was a work of art!
Damn Impressive
That question mark kick is legitimately insane!!!

Luke was scary AF at one point. Always sad when these dudes fall off. It's funnier that it was Bisping that started it though lol
What's even crazier is that Bisping brutally lost to Rockhold their first fight, accepted a short notice rematch as a replacement, and talked shit about how he would knock Luke out and ended up doing it. Like how do u have that kind of confidence after getting wrecked the first time and end up doing what u say u will? Bisping wasn't the best but he sure did believe in himself. I respect that

This dude had it all. Honestly I think he could of beat Izzy in his prime.
Facts. He was Blachowiz's size so he could have just out wrestled him. He just started getting caught. Can happen to anybody and it can definitely change you.
Not enough wrestling skill to get Adesanya to the mat, and he'd get chewed up on the feet. Luke's BJJ is incredible but his wrestling was never great.
@@boredgunner disagree on the part where he would get chewed up in the stand up, unless izzy is juicing (which probably not) luke could give an even fight to izzy on the stand up. his left kick actually injured romero before he knocked him out.
@@allrounderal2958 Rockhold's kicks vs Adesanya, a kickboxer with countless fights? Romero is a wrestler, there's no comparison. Ultimately Rockhold always left his chin way exposed which is suicidal against Adesanya. I do hope Rockhold vs Costa gets made though.

Why? What happened to him?
He was a BEAST, literally super entertaining to watch his fights. Nice balance of striking and grappling. Plus he has one of the cutest question mark kicks in the whole UFC roster
How the hell can a kick be 'cute'?

Retired august 20,2022 🙏 a great career in the sport with both ups and downs
His question mark kick is a thing of beauty, one of the best I’ve seen in mma.
That’s till into the submission was absolutely amazing.
Prime luke still lives in our hearts 🥺❤
"Head movement, Head movement"
I mean he was just awesome. It's so unfortunate how his career trajectory went after that.
That’s the weirdest ending after making him look so good for almost a min 😂
One of the most underrated fighters ufc ever had
If Khabib lost his last fight he’d be memed. “Fan” opinions literally mean zilch.
Yeah i mean gaethje was cheered by all the fans but once he lost to olives they started saying his chin is sus and that he is the weakest matchup in the top 5
that’s why nobody in the top 10 wanted to fight against him only one to say yes was Dariush Islam beats everyone in the top 5 the hardest matchup for him would be chandler
Memes are only made up by people that wish they could have gotten anywhere near the levels of those they mock. Rockhold was a solid fighter with loss of talent, everyone has their day and ultimately they will have their fall.
Luke was one of the best grapplers MMA had ever seen
Skillwise he is one of the best to ever do it, he could strike and grapple impressively.
Bisping was never as good as rockhold you cant change my mind. His skillset was insane but missed the most critical skill - defence.
Obviously, he handily beat bisping the first time. He's like the alistair overeem of the middleweights. Crazy skillset, but has a glass chin and overconfidence issues
He knocked him out cold, what do mean he was never as good? By good do you mean well rounded? Because that doesn't automatically make you a better fighter, Adesanya is not well rounded at all, neither was Khabib but they're dominant champions
@@cadencressman Rockhold was the superior athlete is what they're saying. He was stronger/bigger. But as they say, size isn't everything in a fight.
I think the most critical skill that he was missing was having his ego in check
@@cadencressman i mean he beats him in every martial art comparison when it comes to technique and speed and probably beats him in mma 7/10 times. Thats the vibe he gives off
I understand there’s a whole new wave of mma fans from the Conor era but I hope some learn about the strike force days and how many killers came from there.
his question mark kicks are beutiful
Bro that scramble to the triangle/americana was soooooo butter
I used to love Rockhold and those damn kicks! Then he started talking...
Luke was a unit back in his best days. Watching him beat Chris at the time like that was crazy
He really did “de-livered” with that body kick
Imagine someone with Luke’s frame and skillset but with a humble mindset. Could’ve been one of the goats.
Before he put glove magnets in his chin
Now any top 15 would KO him flat

Mann, Luke at his prime was force to be reckoned with. With his creative striking and crafty ground game, he would give a lot of current MWs a run for their money. Sadly he just lost focus and his demise was just as quick as his success. I really want him to win and find his redemption.
Michael Bisping at the end 😆, such a great trash talker
Luke was a beast at one point
He had the sickest 1-2 year run seriously the grappling the striking next level
Luke became a champion in 2 different organizations hes a badass
I missed out on the Rockhold days but I like the guy. Seems like a great friend. Mad talent.
People are so fast to forget fighters good years after they fall. Luke was a beast when he came into the UFC.
It is kind of funny when people look back and see Bisping as this absolute legend but Rockhold was way more dominant than Mike ever was.
That triangle was art.
Man I remember he’s kicks where scary af
His fighting style was truly art
I still can’t believe Chris threw that damn spinning kick in their fight.
His fighting wasn’t his downfall that’s just life it was when He spoke
Luke and Costa is the best ufc comedy combo that can make you laugh even without having em uttering a single word.
One of the most talented fighters we’ve seen in modern MMA. *has chin like mine
No one denied how good he is, just funny things happen. No one can question his talent and skill.
The snap at the end of the kick is stupid good
His strikeforce career made him the legend he is.. thanks for an amazing career Luke
In these days , luke was my favourite fighter , he was very talented .
That’s triangle on the sprawl was pretty lit haha
That Tim Boetsch submission was crazy.
He really was amazing back then. Crazy how a ko or 2 can completly change trajectory of ones career
He's one of the best MWs evee
He's 1 of my favorite fighters since the days of strike force
This is why I’m a Luke Rockhold fan. I never forgot.
He was a monster I hope his comeback is great cause the dude can bang
Incredible how a single knock out can single handedly ruin a career
Dude that second clip was brilliant
Prime Luke Rockhold gives Izzy some realllllll problems
Prime rockhold beats every champ before and after he was champ. Out every champ in their prime against eachother and I really believe rockhold would dominate. Izzy on the ground, bisping w kicks, and Silva w brute force and clean strikes. Whittaker we the kicks as well. Maybe it’s a stretch but he was literally Perfect making his way to the title clean as fuck all finishes
That last takedown was me in football before you learned how to tackle correctly
His strike force highlights insane
It wasn't his skill set that made him a meme, it was his attitude
This dude was legit before he became a samurai.
Luke is the epitome of the word “prime”. It came and it went
One of the best question mark kicks in the game
Dude was so legit at one point
It’s funny how quick ppl forget how good a lot of these old fighters were in their primes.
That switch kick though...
Went out on his shield. True warrior.
Love seeing the respect for Luke, he's still a high level fighter. Hopefully he can get a W in his next fight.
Before the glass jaw was activated. Dude was honestly the perfect complete martial artist. Was beautiful to watch him fight, but age and the wear and tear at the high level finally caught up to him.

Luke is dangerous when he kicks , he gets in trouble when he just tries to box
Conceive, believe, achieve! Look at those scrambles.
Before Luke Rokhold became meme, he used to make memes
we need a 5 star prime luke on ufc 4 🤞🏻
they would rather put bisping who was an absolute garbage fighter in his prime
In some era… This guy was a monster on all levels
He became a meme after "do you spit or swallow"
What? Elaborate, did he say that to a ring girl?
Love him or hate him, dude was a legit fighter.
Bisping literally took his soul in that second fight. Never was the same
His defense was his only issue. That's what's gotten him KO'd. Dude's all around style was majestic.
"Luke Rockhold de-livers"

He was just all over Machida. Been looking for that fight to rematch. Great performance.
He was a monster for sure

A prime Rockhold is easily one of the best and most talented fighters ever.
When he was fighting unranked guys he was dominating. When he started climbing into the top 5 he got his ass beat every time.
In his prime he had really good striking and great grappling and was elite
He once cleaned up the division. Crazy!
Luke's top game was always crazy
