  • The letter "E" is important for code breaking. If you do a frequency analysis on a substitution cipher, it is easy to figure out what symbols are used as code for the letter "E." This is simple code breaking, but it's best to start with the fundamentals. These books, that omit the letter "E", always remind codebreakers to expect the unexpected when people really want to keep secrets hidden.

  • If I had to take a wild guess, based off the title alone, the book doesn't simply just "th whit dog was slping" Instead, it takes a "Roundabout" way of saying the same sentence, which normally isn't needed. Therefore, that's the title.

  • In Argentina we use the -e to make the nouns gender neutral (eg instead of "linda/lindo" we can use "linde"). Most of the population are against the use of that letter so I found the book interesting and funny for our current reality in the country

    @enahueltorres@enahueltorres2 ай бұрын
    • As a Spanish I say you "can't" use that because it's gramatically incorrect. Also, they are trying to be more inclusive by substituring the final letter by an X. So instead of "linda/lindo" they want to say "linde/lindx" which is... not it. With all respect.

    • @@stormofapril As a teacher who wants to encourage his students to feel free and confident on themselves, and as a person part of the lgbtq+ community who also has friends from the same community, i will do my best to integrate those who feel apart, even if that includes changing a simple letter. Also, no nos hagamos policia de la gramática cuando se acepta el uso de palabras como "almondiga" o "septiembre". Si vamos a quejarnos por cómo alteramos la lengua, no nos centremos en una sola letra y planteemos el debate de por qué otras no tienen éste problema del genero. With all respect.

      @enahueltorres@enahueltorres2 ай бұрын
    • @@enahueltorres Y yo nunca dije que esas palabras se tengan que escribir así solo porque la gente laa diga mal. Y tú deberías ser quien nos diga cómo se origina el lenguaje y cómo ha evolucionado hasta llegar a ser lo que es hoy. Hablar y escribir bien no debería ser una ideología política si no una obligación. Además, el género neutro en inglés siempre fue asignado para cosas u objetos, no para personas. Si quieres animar a que otros se sientan a gusto adelante, pero eso no lo hace hablar correctamente porque actualmente las normas son así. La RAE rechazó el lenguaje inclusivo.

      @stormofapril@stormofapril2 ай бұрын
    • @@stormofapril Mirá, cualquier cosa que hagamos, en mayor o menor medida, está influenciado por nuestra opinión y por la política. Que la RAE rechace el lenguaje inclusivo es una decisión política. Que vos no quieras utilizarlo también es una decisión política. Ahora, que vos no lo quieras utilizar no tiene por qué influir en si otra gente lo use o no. Que yo sea docente no significa que tenga, cómo obligación, explicar cómo se origina el lenguaje o cómo evolucionó, porque para éso están los lingüistas. Ahora, ¿En qué consiste hablar bien? Porque en inglés también se cometen decisiones/cambios gramaticales como usar solo was con I, cuándo antes se podía utilizar tanto was como were, y la gente no se quejó de ello.

Not Oprah book club big deal like The Many Lives of Mamma Love, but readers were definitely talking about it and loving it. For some reason I always associate it with a book that was released around the same time called Balzac and the little Chinese Seamstress. They have nothing to do with one another but I remember they would always be on the same display table.

  • this reminds me of a book i drew/wrote when I was in first grade where everyone was aware of the narrator and just got one. The main character didn't want one so she kinda ran away and broke the narration of the book, and the mom had to go find her daughter with only dialogue I think. I didn't get very far in writing it b/c I was eight and writing stuff only in dialogue is basically impossible. I have no idea where the heck this book went but istg I had silly little pictures of it and I wonder how I thought of it lol
