Over the course of about a week, a two man crew installed sheetrock inside this 16x46 cabin (16x40 interior with a 6' porch), to convert this shed into a home. Once the sheetrock was up, they went through the process of taping and mudding the home. This video gives you an inside look at how Atlas converts a shed into a home, and will hopefully give you ideas about how you can do this for yourself. Let us know in the comments if you have any questions, what you liked, didn't like or what you would do differently.

Would you like me to do another video once the home is finished to show the interior fully decorated? Be sure to like this video because if we get 500 likes then I will go back out as soon as it's completed to do a follow-up video! What do you like most about this home?
Yes, that would be great.
Hey I'm in Charlotte NC i want one like this for me and my daughter
What ever happened to the area/construction principle? LxWxH
Yes because this one didn’t show me anything but music
Yes, just leave the music out.
I would like to see this house when it is finished and has some furniture for display.
Absolute hacks doing that drywall
At 10:18 is a mistake I see a lot on drywall, putting a seam in line with the door hinges the joint will crack every time because of the opening and closing of the door use a full sheet around the doors and you won’t have joint thus not having the problem.
Great Video, both men worked really hard to finish those walls. I like how the appliances are marked out on the kitchen floor and the drywall is completed. 👍
Drywall was done poorly
I like to see it finished, decorated.
Good size cabin. But I have been doing drywall for 12 years professionally. And I would fire them for not staggering those butt joints. The finisher hates them for that.
If I were this business? I wouldn’t be showing this drywall process at all. Wow. From standing on the sheets to tearing the paper front to major gaps as well as what you and others have said… yikes.
Also no fairings strips, just nailed it right to the ceiling joists ?
6:21 What the hell? Is that guy a giant or is the doorway 5 feet tall? This video is some crazy stuff.
Just wish it was actually finished after watching the video. Not complaining, but the title misrepresented what I was looking for. But please keep up the good work. I love your videos!!
Looks great!!!
Thanks!!
Yes please another video
Once they get moved in and settled, I will see if they are willing to let me come back out to do a tour of the inside!
I'd especially loves to see it completed.....
I'd like to see an update on this home! The floorplan looks great.
I would like to see another video on the finish shed.
I always thought it would be nice to have a earthship inspired house . Would it really work w / out the tires ?
Love this jason
Que hermosa ❤
its a great idea
16x is nice and roomy
I did a 16x40 mime mansion a few years back. I got a Graceland portable building to do it with. I learned a lot doing it. The problem I ran into was it was when they started the massive price gouging on wood / plywood ect. I waited for over 6 months to buy wood. I refused to pay $60.00 dollars for a $20.00 dollar sheet of plywood. I am guessing Graceland has most all of Florida at the time they where the only ones making a 16x40 portable like this.
I also have a 16x40 I put up osb boards. I put wood clue paste we’re needed just like you would do drywall and primer and paint. I love how my walls turned out and I don’t have to worry if I hit a stub to hang a picture.
You have no ventilation in the ceiling
Would like to know the state in, permit/zoning needed, how much the shed and construction cost and how long it took? Trying to get mine done but contractor took $58k installed the rough in plumbing, took 3 months for that and then wanted more money. Cut electric, no walls or anything else! Refuses to give the money back so I reported him to the PA State Attorney, police, Dept if Lic & BBB Still waiting so Criminal suit is next
Do you have a floor layout? looks nice
I dont see any venting in the ceiling? How would you prevent mold? I can’t see any airflow?
What are the sizes of the rooms? Nice home !!
How much did u spend on drywall amd insulation
🎉 nice 👌
How do people insure something like this?
Like a shotgun house
It looks good but there should have been a space at floor level on the sheetrock and the joints should not come together in a 4 pattern the way it was done.
It’s fine and dandy if I knew what I was looking at nobody said, what was what good job
Can you include some pricing?
Why are they covering the electrical boxes on the ceiling with drywall? Are you supposed to measure and cut opening and then install drywall 😮
I noticed that too, but later there was another shot with the opening cut out.
@carlapierle8623 I seen that after the fact. Too bad I didn't get to see that part on how they done that😃
Really nice, you would never know from the inside that it was a conversion.Does the company do anything a bit wide, maybe 10 or 25 feet wider. Would be very interested in learning more about your company's building's.
Thanks for watching! We can go much wider, it just wouldn’t be portable, obviously. Check out www.atlasbackyardsheds.com to learn more.
lisabibby I did a 16x40 mime mansion a few years back. In Florida 16 foot is as wide as the law allows to be carried on the road / highway. If you go portable most States only allow 16 foot wide.
Would love to see it finished
Perfect size
How much does this cost completed
what side is the Bedroom
To the critics: this IS affordable housing. Also to the critics: are you seriously expecting master craftsmanship at this level? These guys are admirably doing builder quality. As they gain experience and knowledge they will leave to work on more high end construction. You don't have to like this, but that is the way it works. Also: as they continue working they will buy better quality and more specialized tools to improve the details on their finished product. Fact: overall there is a shortage of workers in the trades - our kids graduating high school often look at jobs like this with disdain, they are soft and do not want jobs where they will sweat and get dirty.
Make sure you check with your county building codes people before you buy one..in my state and county they do not allow to live in these...
Yeesh, that drywall job.😬
If i had land near sugarcreek or dundee ohio aera thats what id build on it n i live in a rented shed 12x25 its small but all i need
That is some ghastly taping & floating in this video. I would fire that crew on day 1.
Where is the finished video?
👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
I wouldn't use that foam insulation. A Fire hazard, IMO. I would use wool, it's a fire retardant
The music gets to be too much
Good video, horrible audio I wonder why there’s no stands to hold up the drywall
Now if they made them not to look like sheds
Those guys are good rockers
HA! That was a Joke... right?
👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻♥️♥️♥️♥️
Wherever did you find those drywall guys, they’re terrible too slow and don’t put it up staggered they’re a joke.

A 16x40 structure is NOT a shed, but the equivalent of a single car garage three cars deep.
Where are you located. I’m on the east coast, and not only am I but about 4 other families I know and 2 family members- we all want to do this. Bc all of us have faced homelessness due to the cost of living being so high, and those of who rent, can’t afford the rents. The pay isn’t enough. We all work, one kid left in school. We had no choice but to buy a very overpriced house. Or. Be homeless. And we were homeless before that, bc we had to get up enough money even when using an FHA- nothing is free. But where I live it’s close to the shore. And people are building are monstrous homes. 7 bedrooms, elevators, (yes in one house!) and the homes are easy 5000 sq feet minimum (that’s the smallest) but we don’t want that. Even our overpriced home. Is technically a tiny home. Just not THIS KIND OF TINY HOME! It’s a small rancher. I’d be so grateful to have something nicer and I’ll say- smaller. Bc you have to stay clean and organized when something is just small.
Click Bait🤔... where is the finished House...right now it's not a shed to a house...it's still a shed to me.
LMBO 😂 it's still a shed took me out
LMBO 😂 it's still a shed took me out
Nothing but drywall hanging in this episode.
Omg u think have someone videoing u u would clean up after yourself that place was absolutely trashed by those drywallers thats not very professional you should have a clean and tidy work area if that was my home being worked on i would be furious as to all the trash everywhere
F'n Hell. Even at 1.5X Speed I got Bored Watching this. Had to Stop at 8:43... You Focused on Camera Shots and Music... Not the Actual Completion and Showing us them actually Doing stuff.... And those Sheetrockers SUCK!
Exterior is too plain
What do you think would look better?
matter of opinion. ostentatious is not necessary.
The noise on this video is awful. Won’t watch the whole thing.
I usually enjoy watching these converted whatever videos but this one was hard to watch. It was just schizophrenic in its "organization" constantly moving from inside to outside not concentrating on anything. Not a fan and couldn't watch it all, sorry.
VERY BAD ISOLASION 🤥🤥🤥
@atlasBackyardSheds waiting on finished walk through
