  • I'm tolerant when vibrancy is enriched by diversity. Unfortunately, a white male was included in this piece, and furthermore, he was in a patriarchal position of family authority. How is this acceptable in 2017? Couldn't we strive to be more inclusive toward alternative family arrangements? Perhaps the vibrant black lady could have been one of the five wives of an Imam, or maybe, a multiracial group marriage of transsexuals and/or gender-queers could have been included. It's 2017, stop the hate and bigotry.

    • The only political party with a chance of winning that you can trust to lead this country is the labour party. Liberal Democrats cannot be trusted as they've said in the past they would do a coalition with Tory Government. The greens have removed 1 of their candidates from a constituency where labour will have then a higher chance of winning and will do the same in other constituencies if needed be. People voting for green please vote for labour as your party is backing labour to win. It's a very smart move and it shows how much the greens care about this country and trust labour as the best next political party to rule this country on the same or similar principles.

  • I think this advert shows a startling lack of insight into the public mood. It's not going to convince anyone who voted brexit, it's just going to alienate them further with it's moral superiority and dim view on why they voted that way. A lack of understanding and branding people as hateful racists is ignoring real people's concerns. Wake up! It's embarrassing to call myself a liberal these days...

    @Kleeonik@Kleeonik7 жыл бұрын
    • That's because you're accepting this at face value. This really isn't about keeping the UK in the EU. It's a desperate Lib Dem tactic to win back some much needed support from Labour. The left is dead in British politics. They are fighting for scraps at the table.

      @jimbeam5891@jimbeam58917 жыл бұрын
    • They aren't trying to convince anyone who voted brexit, this ad is quite clearly trying to get votes from people who voted remain, as that's still a big part of the electorate.

  • Continued membership of the single market means continued open borders to Europe and being unable to negotiate our own trade deals. It'll be like we never left. If you're a true democrat and accept the referendum result then we must leave the single market.

    @Yorosero@Yorosero7 жыл бұрын
    • FYI you can be a member of the single market, but not the customs union. They're two different things. Norway is in the single market but can negotiate its own trade deals. We have never had "open borders" to Europe, we've always had our own border checks. "Open borders" is a phrase Brexiteers like to use to make freedom of movement for European citizens sound threatening.

The UK economy has been bolstered by the upsurge in therapy sessions for those middle class who voted Remain. Ironically these are also the same people who given the choice decide NOT to send their children to schools with high numbers of translators. The Libdem hypocrisy is comedic in it's content and delivery.

  • Looking at all of the media you'd think absolutely nobody voted for Brexit and it's the cause of all evil... We send millions to the EU daily and don't get anywhere near that figure back. You said that the pound fell, like it would do directly afterwards before increasing back. We've got an increase in industry on the way, too. Please just give it a chance and at least show some people who voted Brexit who aren't criminals or have a negative vibe...

    @RetroGUY77@RetroGUY777 жыл бұрын
    • The pound has gone back to where it was? You wot mate? Pound was at about US$1.50 before the referendum, now sits at US$1.24 and is very volatile (was US$1.20 as little as 2 weeks ago). This volatility could very well cause the pound to loose it's reserve currency status. Nice work Brexiteers!

      @danielmorse922@danielmorse9227 жыл бұрын
    • Actually, I think people voted leave for a lot of different reasons, and yes, some young people voted for the reasons you cite. However, when you consider that certain minorities actually voted in favour of Brexit (in particular the Sikh community) this does not mean that the vote can be taken as a rejection of multiculturalism. A lot of people want it to be that, but just repeating it over and over won't make it so.

      @danielmorse922@danielmorse9227 жыл бұрын
    • As for the pound, they might not care right now, but they will care if inflation sets in. They can only hope that it turns into a classic inflation cycle of prices pushing up wages pushing up prices ad-infinitum.

  • If you support open-mindedness, if you support tolerance and if you support an equal and fair playing field, then support the Liberal Democrats. If you want to bring up broken promises about tuition fees, the Liberal Democrats have learnt a valuable lesson and it would be far from the party's interest to break another promise. Tim Farron voted against the raise in tuition fees and overall comes across as a resilient man who is not prepared to give up on his views nor his support for liberty. To those saying the Liberal Democrats are trying to block brexit and go against what the people voted for, this is also false. Tim Farron opposes a "hard brexit" and, when Teresa May returns with the best possible terms and conditions of our exit from the EU that she can muster, he wishes for a second referendum to make sure the public are happy with these terms. That is democracy.

    • Socialistic? When has the European Union told member states that there must be collective ownership of the means of production?

      @RossStalker@RossStalker7 жыл бұрын
    • Ross Stalker ummmm how about Airbus, multiple parts are sourced from multiple countries on order of the EU. These countries include Germany, France, Italy and of course the UK. now I'm not necessarily saying that the UK's 30% share in it is a bad thing but it is an example of collective production. Try researching before you come back with a response that has such a simple answer...

      @RedSquareNebula@RedSquareNebula7 жыл бұрын
    • I've not done my research? You're the one who apparently thinks that managed capitalism is socialism.

      @RedSquareNebula@RedSquareNebula7 жыл бұрын
    • That's not an example of socialism though. If the EU forced Airbus to become a government-owned company, that would be socialism. Countries in the EU can really span quite a wide spectrum of economic policies from right to left. Also, what is your source for this Airbus thing because if it's about the R&D subsidies I think you've missed the point entirely.

Our MPs and consequently our government are representatives, not delegates. This means that they should act using their own intellect and judgement as opposed to being a mouthpiece for their constituents opinions. Maybe instead of being angry about the way the Liberal Democrats are against Brexit, you should look into whether or not how the country is run is what you're fundamentally against?
